Love after Divorce

59: Awkward Moment

Ch. 59 / 127 Apr 15, 2026

P.O.V Paige

A few days have passed, Mason is back to acting the same way he did before what happened at Sarah and Ethan's house. It's like nothing happened. At first it was hard for me to understand why, but later I understood that he regretted what he did and that it's better to function as if nothing happened. Like him I went back to my cool attitude and my comments that we are and will be friends.

The trip is getting closer and closer, and I am feeling anxious. I have even looked at the weather in those countries we will be visiting to know what kind of clothes to wear. I even have an alarm to start organizing my suitcase days in advance, yes as you read DAYS.

Emily on the other hand, insists that I buy new clothes for the trip to surprise Mason with a new style. I refuse to do anything like that, there's no point in changing.

"Dear, it's not for Mason, it's because you might meet a man during this trip. You never know what might happen. You'll be away for a long time, visiting many countries," she says, smiling.

"You're not going to stop insisting, are you?" I respond with a question because I know her well, and I know how she goes about getting what she wants when she sets her mind to it.

"After all these years, you still ask," she replies, shrugging.

"You're right. I don't know why I bother asking," I say, getting up from where I'm sitting.

"Well, we have two weeks left to get everything ready, and I'll start organizing everything. Beauty salon appointments, buying lots of clothes, swimsuits, underwear, shoes, checking the weather to see what kind of clothing you should bring. There's a lot I need to organize. Although..." she says, smiling like the Cheshire Cat.

"What do you mean, 'although'? You already had everything planned," I respond to myself.

"You know," she laughs.

She takes out a notebook with a list of things we need to buy, as well as things I need to do. I sigh and realize I need to be patient because there's a lot coming my way in such a short amount of time.

I read in silence, and when I come across a part that surprises me, I close the notebook and say to her, blushing, "This doesn't need to be on the list."

"What's wrong?" she asks, confused.

"The type of waxing is something personal to me. It doesn't need to be on the list you made," I say.

"I just added it because you might forget to do it. It's not like I'll accompany you and tell you how to do it. You have to consider that you'll be wearing swimsuits, and your image is crucial to captivate a man. Later on, it's about getting to know him and seeing if he's really worth it. You have to be fully prepared for this trip. It could change your life in a month and a half," she comments, looking at the other items on the list.

I don't answer since there is no point and she is right. Emily checks the calendar and tells me what day we are going shopping and the funny thing is that the salon leaves it for the day before we leave. I don't question her, there is no point. If she has everything planned, I shouldn't have any doubts about what she tells me.

After leaving ready the days we will go out I go home, today I feel with a lot of energy, and I take advantage that Mason went alone to the office to do some exercises. This time without going out has me with extreme mood swings.

I hit play on my playlist and start working out. My musical tastes are quite strange, I like all kinds of music, which is funny to Mason every time he comes with me to work out.

I spend about two hours in that place, Simba is outside playing with his favorite ball.

I go to my room and fill the tub, I need a bath, I still have a lot of energy and I feel that no matter how much I do it will not diminish. The tub is ready, I go to get my towel and when I take it out, I see underneath all the ones I have my favorite toy, just like Simba I have my favoritism with some things. I smile and proceed to lock the door so as not to be interrupted. Although no one is home and I am in no danger, however, better safe than sorry.

I start playing with my little boy, who is not very small. I get wet very easily, touch where I know it melts me and end up playing longer than I wanted to. I imagine many things, without realizing it I whisper Mason's name. I recognize that I imagine him with me, maybe that's why everything felt better.

I enjoy myself in a way that leaves me shaking. My legs feel like jelly from everything I felt.

I struggle out of bed, go to my toy and towel. I lock myself in the bathroom and drop slowly into the tub. I close my eyes and fall asleep.

I don't know how long it is that I spent in that state. I only realize it's a long time because of the knocking on the bathroom door. I shake my head as if shaking my head to react and wake up my brain.

Mason is pounding on the bathroom door too hard.

"Paige! Enough is enough. We've been asking for a while. I'm going to break down the door," my husband says, very serious.

"I'm fine!" I raise my voice, but it's useless.

At that moment, I see the door being forcefully pushed open. Mason appears in front of me, worried, and when he sees that I'm okay, he sighs.

"We thought something had happened to you. You've been in here for a long time without responding," he explains his actions.

"How long?" I ask, confused.

"Well, I got a call because you've been in there for over two hours. Then someone knocked on the door, and you didn't respond. When I arrived..." he looks at his watch and continues, "well, it's been over three hours now. I spent more than 15 minutes banging on the door, and we didn't hear anything from you," he says nervously.

"I understand. Don't worry," I say, calming his anxiety.

"I shouldn't have done it," he says, frustrated.

"It's okay. Don't beat yourself up over it," I say, smiling.

The only difference is that I look at myself and realize that I'm naked, with barely any foamy water left, and my favorite toy is sitting on the sink, waiting to be washed. I blush and think about how to get it out of the bathroom without looking in his direction.

"Just close your eyes and don't move, so I can grab a towel," I tell him, covering certain parts of my body with my hands.

"I can leave," he says, trying to move.

"No! Just close your eyes," I nervously request.

"Okay," he says, closing his eyes.

I quickly get up and wrap myself in the towel that I conveniently left nearby. I silently move to the sink and place my clothes on top of my toy, so it's not visible.

"Ready," I say, smiling and taking his arm to leave the bathroom together.

"The important thing is that you're okay," he says, kissing my forehead and leaving my room.
