Love after Divorce

57: Strange Night

Ch. 57 / 127 Apr 15, 2026

P.O.V Paige:

I find Mason sitting on the bed, looking at me as I enter the room. When he sees me, he pats the space next to him, as if telling me to sit there.

"Come lie down," he says, smiling.

"How much did you drink?" I ask as I put my bag on a chair.

"Not that much," he replies.

"Then why didn't we go home?" I insist.

"Don't be like that, don't get mad. I just wanted to sleep here," he says like a little punished child.

I roll my eyes and sigh.

"I don't know what you think you're doing with this but get on your side of the bed and sleep," I say as I turn around to see what I'm going to sleep with.

The door to the room makes a sound, and I open it. It's my friend bringing me pajamas.

"Thanks, friend," I say, taking the pajamas she hands me.

"You can thank me tomorrow," she says winking.

I don't understand what she means, but when I enter the bathroom to change, I understand everything. The pajamas she brought me are very small and short, leaving nothing to the imagination.

Damn it! I say to myself.

"Why are you taking so long in the bathroom? Are you sick? I'll come get you," I hear him say.

"I'm fine..." I don't get to say anything else because he opens the bathroom door.

"Wow, you look... really good," he says nervously.

I remember that I'm wearing the very short pajamas my friend gave me, which I now doubt if she really is a friend, and I cover my breasts with my hands at least. Because the pajamas are only lace in that part.

"Well, I'm sleepy now, so I'll go to bed," I tell him as I pass by him.

I can't take more than three steps because his arm stops me, holding me by the waist and turning my body.

"What are you doing?" I say, moving my body away from his.

"What I've wanted to do for some time," he replies, bringing his face closer to mine.

"It's not a good idea," I answer, quickly distancing myself from him. He sighs in frustration and takes a deep breath.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you do something you don't want to," he says, embarrassed.

"It's not that, I mean... forget it, let's just go to sleep," it's the last thing I say before lying down and turning my back to pretend that I'm asleep.

I hear him pacing back and forth before lying down. I feel the bed sink under his weight, and I still don't move. I hear him sigh again while lying down, and I still don't move.

I close my eyes and try to think of sheep to fall asleep, but it doesn't work. My body is too disturbed by what happened a few minutes ago.

I don't know how much time has passed since we went to bed, but I feel a hand on my waist that makes me tense up. Mason's body moves closer to my back, and he hugs me. I feel his breath on my neck, and I hear him whisper,

"I really am sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable," he says, leaving a kiss on my bare shoulder.

Not so bare, as the pajamas have a thin strap that rests on my shoulder. His lips feel warm, and I really want to turn around and look into his eyes. However, considering how drunk he is and what just happened, I think that would be a mistake because things could escalate. That wouldn't be good at all. It would ruin our agreement and his happiness over a drunken mistake.

He presses our bodies together with the embrace he's giving me from behind, as if he wants to merge us into one. I'm not an idiot, and I can feel his "tension," which is what stopped me from turning my body.

After a few minutes, he falls asleep in the same position as before. I sigh in relief and relax a bit. Eventually, sleep overcomes me, and I fall asleep too.

I wake up to a kiss on the forehead, accompanied by a front hug. I open my eyes, startled, and see Mason facing me, embracing my waist.

"Good morning, sleepyhead," he says, smiling.

"Good morning," I greet, trying to distance myself from his body.

"I won't let you go," he says teasingly, noticing my attempt to escape.

"Escape? I just need to use the bathroom," I say nervously.

"Just let me ask you something, just one thing," he insists.

"Go ahead," I say, waiting for his question.

"Did I make you feel very uncomfortable last night? I really didn't want to make you uncomfortable, and I genuinely hope that our relationship stays the same as it has been, and that what happened last night doesn't change things," he says, sounding concerned.

"Don't worry, it's fine, and everything is still the same," I respond, smiling.

After that, he finally lets me get up to go to the bathroom. When I'm inside, I look at my reflection and slap my forehead with my palm. I forgot to cover myself with the tiny pajamas I'm wearing. How could I forget that detail? Surely Mason saw my entire backside and breasts.

I step into the shower and take a bath. When I come out, I wrap a towel around my body and another one around my hair. As I exit, I see him waiting for me eagerly.

"Why did you change your pajamas? I had such a beautiful view," he says, laughing.

"How funny. Well, I hope you enjoyed the view because you won't have it again in your life," I reply, sticking out my tongue at him.

He mumbles something that I don't understand, and I pretend not to hear. He goes to the bathroom, and I dress in the same clothes as yesterday, but without underwear. It's not the first time I've had to go around like this, at least until I get home and change.

I leave the room before Mason finishes showering, and I arrive in the kitchen to find Ethan preparing breakfast. That's something I've always liked about him; he always brings breakfast to Sarah in bed. It's something that charms me every day.

"Good morning, I just came to say hello and goodbye. As soon as Mason finishes showering, we'll go to the house to change clothes. I need to see Simba, and I'll have breakfast there," I quickly tell Ethan, so he doesn't say anything to stop me from my plans.

"How did you sleep?" he asks, laughing.

"Fine, pretty normal, actually," I reply with no expression on my face.

"Good morning," Mason greets from behind me.

"I'll wait for you in the car," I say, passing by him and leaving the kitchen.

I don't know what they say to each other, and I don't care. I just want to go change clothes to see my baby.
