P.O.V Mason:
After dinner, as we're about to leave, I tell her about the "surprise" I had for her. I didn't know how she would react.
"In a month, we're going on a trip. I have everything organized. Your university degree is already in process, so you'll have it before we leave," I say nervously.
"Really?" she asks, excited.
"Yes, everything is ready. We'll be visiting many places, and it might take more than a month. I've also taken care of the person who will be in charge of your company and mine. They'll keep us informed about everything at all times. I haven't overlooked anything," I inform her, smiling.
"Where are we going?" she asks.
"Where we won't be going is better to ask, my wife," I reply, laughing.
I love seeing how her eyes light up with what I said. It's clear that the idea makes her happy, and if she's happy, I am too.
"You can't just tell me that. You have to tell me where we're going. I won't be able to live like this," she pleads.
"We'll start with Central America, then a few countries in Asia, and we'll finish in Europe," I tell her, as if it's not a big deal.
"Wow! I can't wait to go," she says, sighing.
"If you want, we can leave earlier. It's not a problem for me. But you have your degree, handing over the company, and the procedures they're doing for that," I remind her, mentioning why the trip is in a month.
"I know, I'm excited about traveling so much. You know, if I end up liking any country and decide to come back to live there after we divorce, I like the idea," she says, excited.
She didn't realize that those words took away the excitement of the trip for me. I don't want her to leave when we get divorced. I want to keep seeing her. I feel like she's already and will always be a part of my life.
Paige narrates:
Dinner was fantastic, I ate too much. Mason's surprise was the trip, I would like to leave as soon as possible. I need to stop thinking about everything and enjoy my last few months with Mason.
When we leave there will only be three months left, after that we will each go our separate ways in life. Mason can be happy with Peyton and I, well I'll just look for love somewhere else where it will be reciprocated.
My attitude of a cold woman who takes everything with humor is a facade, I told myself one day that there was no point in being sad to end the three years with Mason, he will be happy, and it is totally true that when we really love just by seeing the happiness in the other person we are happy. That is the mentality I have had for a few weeks now.
I feel lost for the future, that's why I made that comment that maybe I will stay and live in another country, because I might find a man in one of the places we will go, well that's what I want to think.
Nobody takes away that I may fall in love with someone or some place to live. It all depends on what happens.
This day I don't have to go to Ethan's company anymore, Mason when he finds out invites me to accompany him to his company, I accept since he will inform me about some things of my company.
We arrive together, and before getting off the elevator, he takes my hand. I look at him, and he says,
"We have to pretend until the very last day," winking at me.
We move forward, and the secretary, who already knows me, greets me with a smile. She has always been very kind to me, and I've grown fond of her.
"Good morning," I say, smiling.
"Good morning. Shall I bring your coffee?" she asks, looking at me.
She knows that I love coffee, especially the way she prepares it.
"I want one too, if it's not too much trouble. Remember, I'm your boss," Mason says jealously.
"I see you every day, sir. I always bring your coffee just the way you like it, so I didn't ask. Don't be jealous," the secretary replies, causing me to laugh.
"It's not funny, I'm not jealous," Mason grumbles.
"I do want a coffee, though. You know how to make it," I say, winking at him.
"I'll bring you both a coffee right away," she says, looking at both of us.
I watch her leave, and we walk to my husband's office. As we enter, I try to let go of his hand, but he doesn't allow it and guides me to the seat in front of his desk. I sit down, and he releases my hand to sit next to me.
"I thought you'd sit in his chair," I say, nervous about his proximity, though I don't show it.
"I'll have my coffee first," he replies, smiling.
I nod, and when the secretary enters with both coffees and sees us sitting together, she smiles. Before leaving, she says,
"I'll make sure nobody disturbs you unless it's a matter of life or death." I hear her laugh as she leaves, and I shake my head.
She asks the secretary to bring us food, she tells her to choose, that we don't care. We wait while she tells me how far we have come, and it is quite a lot. Well, we have been at it all morning.
