His Forbidden Soulmate

Chapter 3

Ch. 3 / 44 Oct 20, 2023

Freya

What's striking about the moon, is wherever you go it's always right there in the sky as if it's watching over you. Why are the things that seem distant the closest to you, like the sun, the moon, and the stars but the ones that are within reach, seem the farthest?

The first night at my new home, I stood at the window just like I did back home and cried, gazing off into the sky at the half-shiny moon.

The morning I didn't hide my puffy red eyes from wailing all night, instead, I went straight downstairs. There was no need to disguise it, for what has happened to me was too sudden.

A strong scent of pancake and chocolate syrup, welcomed my nose as I entered the kitchen.

Zira stroke a strand of my long, dark hair while Grandma brushes my cheek, seeing how miserable I was.

Grandma took my pancake to the dining room along with a hot cup of peppermint tea. I followed.

"There you go Hun," she puts it before me as I sat.

"You'll be merry soon," she told me before heading back into the kitchen as if she could foresee the future.

My fork played along with the chocolate syrup on top of the pancake, drawing the moon. A chocolatey moon. I've become so attached to the moon for looking at it every night while I cried, that it is all I can think of sometimes.

"Grandma, I'm going outside for some fresh air!" I yelled feeling the need to.

"Okay, Hun, don't walk off into the forest, there are wild dangerous wolves out there!" she yelled back from the kitchen. Soon I heard the laughter of her and grandaunt gossiping.

My bed slipper was so comfy and soft. My feet felt like they were wrapped in the softest cotton. I went outside with them refusing to swap them for an outside slipper.

I took a deep breath in and exhaled already appreciating the fresh air. My body relaxed at the comfortable feeling of the breeze, standing on the porch.

It felt wonderful seeing so much green. A large field that seemed endless with lowly cut grasses, and beautiful flowers at the side of the house. That was the garden. My grandma's house was the only house within the area. It may seem lonely to others, but not for me. I dug both hands into my pocket and stride to the back of the house. The back was the gateway to the forest, it was filled with so many trees. The little section of the tree allowed you to see, that there was a way in between them had barely any light. I stood distant from it close to the back of the dark blue home, gazing into the forest. I felt the need to sit and so I sat down onto a large stone moving closer to it. My body curled into a ball while both feet rested on the side of the stone.

A snapping sound from the forest causes my eyes to quickly move to it. I was stunned and immediately came from the rock seeing it was a wolf. A furry wolf, with a mixture of light grey and black. His yellow and dark eyes peered into mine with a look that read. Who are you? Why is it the first I'm seeing you here? my eyes return his stare in awe, at seeing my first real wolf.

"Freya," I heard Grandma calling me, causing me to turn away from him.

"I'm coming," I responded.

By the time I turn to look back at the wolf he was gone.
