Freya
I thought Jurius would return to school and one of his arms would be wrapped around me while we ate our lunch together, and we'd strode along the length of the corridor just like the students who were in love since we were soulmates, but I didn't see him.
I played with my food, worried if he was okay. I was concerned if his alpha had somehow found out about us and killed him. My heart raced at that thought. I didn't know much about real wolf shifters other than the made-up ones in the novels.
"Excuse me," I told Dolly as I got up from around our lunch table.
"Where are you going?" she asked inquisitively.
"To the lady's room," I told her as I walked away.
"Okay, don't take too long; we have a lot of things to talk about!" she yelled.
Dolly was anxious about the party after the football championship. She wanted to talk about the outfits they'd wear and how their hair would be done.
I'm not sure if I will be going, but if Jurius asks me to, I will say yes without hesitating.
I went into the bathroom, locked myself in the toilet area, and sat down on the covering.
I needed some time alone.
Before Jurius and I went our ways, I wished we had exchanged phone numbers, for I was worried stiff if he's somehow hurt and is laying down somewhere taking his last breath by his cruel alpha.
I shook my head, not wanting to think of such a thing.
I washed my hands and exited the bathroom, not wanting Dolly to be concerned about why I was taking so long.
"Who will you be going to the party with?" Dolly asked as I sat down.
"I won't be going." I answered.
"Come on, please come." One of her arms wrapped around my shoulder as she begged me.
"I can't," I said.
"Please come, Freya; if you're worried about a date, I can help you with that," she said.
"What date?"
Our gaze went to the right side after hearing a guy.
"This is Matthew, one of the members of the football team," Dolly introduced us. A blonde with lowly wavy cut hair and blue sapphire eyes.
I waved at him, and he smiled.
"So who's looking for a date?" He then went on to ask.
"Freya for the championship after party," Dolly said as she nudged me.
"No, I'm not," I said shyly. My head lowered as I did.
"I'm also looking for a date," Matthew informed me.
Wow, that's great!" Dolly said loudly, "You and Freya can go."
"Will you like to go with me?" Matthew asked.
"I'm sorry, I can't," I said, hoping that I didn't hurt his feelings.
"Okay, whenever you change your mind, let me know," he said, then ran off.
I watched him as he started playing with his friends, throwing a football around.
It was the first time a guy ever asked me out. If Jurius wasn't my soulmate, I probably would have, just to experience what going on a date felt like.
"You're such a letdown," Dolly complained.
"I'm sorry," I apologized.
"No need to; I will never compel you to do anything after you're a friend to me now," she said, hugging me at my side.
I smiled.
I was so glad when school was dismissed that I drove home immediately, hoping I would see Jurius Wolf at the back of the house. Likewise, I didn't see his wolf.
"Jurius," I softly called, hoping somehow he could hear.
Immediately I stopped, and I turned around, hearing someone from behind approaching me.
"I saw your car, and it was empty, and I was wondering where you were." My grand aunt stood behind me.
"I just came to look at the beautiful forest. It's always a good sight to look at," I said.
"Okay," she retorted.
I followed her inside and went upstairs.
Disappointedly, I threw my backpack away as I locked the door behind me.
"I just came to look at the beautiful forest. It's always a good sight to look at. You little liar," I heard Jurius say behind me.
I ran to hug him, and he held me in his arms.
"I've been so worried about you," I said.
"I'm fine. After I've parted in the forest. I decided to come here and wait for you until you return," he said as both hands went slowly to my waist, holding me firmly.
I blushed.
"If I'd known, I'd come home with some excuse to leave school early," I say.
"It's okay; I don't mind waiting on you," he said, leaning in for a kiss.
His kiss was like the first kiss we ever had—passionate and sweet.
Soon our lips parted, and I was left breathless by his kiss.
"How was school without me?" he asked.
"Lonley," I said. "I even had to turn down a guy who wanted to go on a date with me to the championship." I told him everything.
"What is its name?" he asked, becoming upset.
I was stiffed by the question. I was too scared to tell him, for his eyes were shifting back and forth into his wolves.
"Forget him; I'm only interested in you, my soulmate," I said, kissing him on the cheek.
His tense body was loosened by it.
"Someone is coming," he said telepathically to me, and he hid at the side of the door.
I looked at him nervously before answering. When I opened the door, it was my grandmother.
"Are you ready for supper?" she asked.
"Not yet," I said with a tight grip on the door, praying she didn't want to come in for a talk.
"Okay, I'll be downstairs whenever you need me," she said before going off.
I nodded.
Jurius was now sitting on my bed when I closed the door. I was so nervous when I saw him and at the thought of him one day marking me as his own.
How does it feel? I wondered.
"What are you still nervous about?" he asked.
"How do you know I am?" I asked inquisitively.
"I smell it all over you," he retorted.
I parted a few strands of my hair, placing them over my ears, and motioned to him.
Jurius patted a section of the bed right next to him to have a seat. I hesitated.
He pulled me into his lap, and my heart felt like it skipped a beat. My arms went around his neck, fearing I would fall, but I knew he would never let me.
We admired each other's eyes. I bite my bottom lip edgily.
"What else can your kind do?" I soon asked, wanting to know more about him.
"It's better if you don't know much about my kind," he said.
"But what I did to you," he went on. Speaking telepathically, some wolves can only do so with their soulmate, but I can do it with anyone, for I am a soon-to-be alpha."
I was speechless at what he had said.
"Your father is the alpha?" I asked appallingly.
He nodded and got up with me, placing me on the bed. He then walked over to my window.
I watched my alpha mate with concern.
"Is your father a cruel alpha like the one in the shifter romance novel?" I asked.
He turned around, chuckling at what I'd said.
"Is that why you weren't afraid of me, my weird mate?" He said this as he came over to me and held me in his arms again.
My cheek was red from his question.
I felt my heart pounding against my rib cage, and he carefully moved his head down to my neck.
I wondered if he was going to bite me.
My eyes closed as he sniffed my neck, and he moved his lips to my right ear.
"Do you want to know something that's not within your crazy wolf shifter romance books about me?" he whispered in my ear.
I swallowed hard and was afraid to ask.
"Don't be scared; it's nothing to be scared of," he said. Sensing I was.
My head then carefully nodded.
One of his hands went around my neck as if he was going to choke me, and I laid my hand against it, frightened.
"We are more of an animal than a human. This second form is no different than clothes to travel your world without being noticed," he told me as his hand tightened around my neck.
Quickly, his lips went to mine, and he started kissing them hard, leaving them with a tiny, hungry bite. I moan loudly.
"Freya, are you okay?" I heard Zira calling.
Immediately, I moved away from him.
"I hit my foot against the bed foot," I said.
I heard Jurius laughing softly, and I pushed him, feeling embarrassed.
"I hope you didn't hurt yourself badly," said Zira.
"No, I didn't," I answered.
Jurius was laughing like crazy, and I hid my face in the palms of my hands.
He came over to them and moved them.
After what he had told me, I didn't know if I should fear him or not, for he wasn't human at all but a beast wearing human skin. He wasn't compared to the werewolf romance novels; he was more fearful.
