Vanya's POV
I was well aware of Theodore's formidable influence in Los Angeles. Ever since Mr. Winston acknowledged him as his grandson, he had firmly established himself in the city.
Theodore's style was rather ruthless, akin to a desperado.
In the business world, every enterprise had its unsavory secrets, and the tricky task of disposing of this evidence often fell to Theodore.
Thus, no one wanted to make an enemy of him lightly.
"Alright, let's start with everyone introducing yourselves to get to know each other better, as we'll be spending a lot of time together," Derrick said with a friendly smile.
One by one, the students introduced themselves.
They were all animated and boastful, flaunting their family businesses, studying abroad experiences, and so-called "great achievements" in society.
When it was my turn, I simply stated, "My name is Vanya," and then ended it.
The audience exchanged glances, and I could sense a silent agreement among them.
In their eyes, I was nothing more than Cliff's wife.
Recently, the circle had been abuzz with rumors that I only got into Wolfe through resources provided by Cliff.
Despite my looks, they looked down on me with disdain and ridicule.
"Wilmot," Wilmot then coolly announced his name, and stopped talking.
In everyone's minds, both me, the married woman who supposedly used illegal dealings, and Wilmot, the notorious violent playboy in Los Angeles' high society, were probably only in this class because of our connections.
"Meet me at the entrance of the second teaching building after today," Wilmot suddenly whispered beside me.
I didn't respond. I just listened quietly.
The self-introduction session ended quickly.
As soon as class was over, Wilmot couldn't wait to leave the classroom. I noticed Derrick's gaze fixed on him intently.
I deliberately slowed down, pretending to organize my notes. After everyone left, Derrick rushed over.
He looked worried and asked, "Vanya, when did you get involved with that little bully, Wilmot?"
"Involved? I haven't," I feigned innocence.
Derrick didn't buy it, "Don't pretend. I can tell. You must be deliberately trying to get close to Wilmot! Vanya, I advise you not to provoke him. The person behind him is Edwin, not someone to be trifled with."
"Don't worry. I know what I'm doing. Thank you," I picked up my bag and slowly left the classroom.
In fact, Derrick was right. I did intend to get closer to Wilmot.
Although everyone knew Edwin was ruthless, they didn't know that in the future, Wilmot, his younger brother, would be even more difficult to deal with.
If I could make friends with Wilmot in advance, my path in the future might be much smoother.
However, Wilmot had a unique personality, and flattery or deliberate ingratiation would only make him disgusted, similar to Cliff.
In my past life, I had tried so hard to please Cliff, only to be despised by him, even to the point where he wouldn't look at me when I was dying.
But I also found that when I stopped caring about them, they would come to me instead.
Therefore, I deliberately avoided the main entrance of the second teaching building and did not meet with Wilmot.
As the sky darkened, I woke up slowly, my head foggy and confused.
I looked out the window and realized it was pouring rain outside, the heavy raindrops hitting the glass and blurring the outside world.
As a werewolf, I shouldn't be troubled by ordinary illnesses.
But my current weakness was due to the instability of the mate bond.
That invisible force was raging inside me, making my wolf's power extremely weak, leading to these symptoms similar to illness.
At such times, I could deeply feel my helplessness, as if I had lost control over my body.
I was about to get up to find some relief when my peripheral vision caught sight of the bedside table.
On it lay a white note, clearly stating, 'There are daily necessities and medicines in the bedside cabinet.'
With a hint of doubt and anticipation, I slowly opened the drawer, and sure enough, it was neatly arranged with cold medicine, fever reducers, and painkillers.
Seeing this, I couldn't help but wonder if this was prepared for me by Theodore in secret.
He was always so meticulous, quietly paying attention to my life.
As I was lost in thought, a sudden phone ring broke the silence in the room.
I reached for the phone, and the caller ID showed Cliff.
I frowned slightly, feeling a sense of helplessness, but still answered the call.
Immediately, Cliff's cold voice came through the phone, as if it could penetrate the speaker and pierce my eardrum directly, "Where have you been?"
