Vanya's POV
Before I could compliment the place, Derrick hurriedly complained, "You see, I told you Vanya wouldn't like this style! Girls prefer everything to be filled with girlish charm, right?"
I smiled and turned to Theodore, my eyes filled with sincerity. "No, I really like it. Thank you, Theodore."
Theodore seemed to breathe a sigh of relief and continued, "You won't feel bored living here, will you?"
I shook my head gently, my tone resolute, "Not at all. I love this kind of simple and quiet atmosphere. It's more comfortable for me."
As I spoke, I surveyed the room and noticed that all the daily necessities were provided, even fragrant candles and coffee machines, which made me feel even warmer.
At that moment, Theodore spoke again, his tone steady yet reassuring, "A cleaning lady will come every week to tidy up. Just focus on your studies, and don't worry about anything else."
"Considering you've arranged everything so well, how should we calculate the rent?"
I asked subconsciously, knowing that such a great house must come with a hefty price.
"Add it to your debt," Theodore replied straightforwardly, without any ambiguity.
His candid demeanor made me laugh. I was thinking that he was really him.
I nodded readily and agreed, "It's a good deal."
Derrick, hearing Theodore's response, widened his eyes in disbelief, his face full of astonishment.
His expression seemed to say, "How could you do this, bro?" which almost made me laugh out loud.
However, I was also touched by Theodore's special care, causing ripples in my heart.
At the beginning of this unfamiliar and challenging academic journey, this warmth was especially precious.
"We have other matters to attend to, so we won't disturb you anymore. You can settle in."
Derrick said urgently, pulling Theodore to leave.
I didn't understand why he reacted so strongly.
'Click!'
The door was shut by Derrick.
In the afternoon, I wore a simple casual outfit to go to school for registration. I didn't dress up deliberately. I just wanted to start this new campus journey comfortably.
Unexpectedly, as I walked on campus, I attracted a lot of attention.
"Wow, she's really stunning. Is she a freshman?"
"Have you seen her before? Is she even from our school?"
"I think I saw her during the entrance exam, right? She's a freshman, isn't she?"
The students around me chatted, casting glances at me from time to time.
I could feel curiosity and admiration in those gazes, which made me a bit uncomfortable, but I tried to remain calm.
At that moment, a handsome man ran towards me with a sunny smile and asked proactively, "Hey, are you a new student here?"
I nodded gently and replied, "Sort of."
He enthusiastically continued, "Where is your dormitory? I can walk you there."
"No, thank you," I politely declined his offer.
"How about I take you to register? I'm a junior, and freshmen registration should be at the first teaching building."
He seemed unwilling to end our conversation so soon and still wanted to help.
"No, I'm going to the second teaching building," I calmly stated my destination.
"The second teaching building?" He was clearly stunned, a puzzled look on his face.
I nodded again to confirm, "I'm going to the second teaching building for registration."
"But the second teaching building..." He stopped mid-sentence, and I knew what he was thinking. The second teaching building was usually where graduate students registered.
He began to scrutinize me closely. In his eyes, I was just a young girl in my early twenties, not at all like the female graduate students he was used to seeing, who had spent years in academic pursuits.
"The second teaching building is right over there. I can see it. Thank you," I said, not wanting to explain further, just offering a friendly smile before turning towards the second teaching building.
I could feel his puzzled and probing gaze on my back, but I didn't stop.
Melinda's POV
I've been staying in the dormitory for several days, and Cliff has shown no intention of seeing me.
He hasn't even made a phone call, and Raven and Fawn have noticed that.
Raven couldn't help but ask, "Melinda, where's your boyfriend? Why hasn't he contacted you?"
"Yeah, did you guys break up because of that woman?"
Fawn also chimed in with a question.
I forced a smile and said, "He's just on a business trip. Don't read too much into it."
"Wow, is this the woman you guys mentioned last time who likes Melinda's boyfriend?"
Suddenly, another roommate put her phone in front of everyone, showing a side profile photo of Vanya on the school's confession wall.
Although the photo was a bit blurry, one could recognize Vanya at a glance.
"Really, why is this woman back at school?"
Raven complained, "What a nuisance. Maybe she's here to cause trouble for Melinda this time."
My heart was pounding.
Today was the day for new students to enroll. How could Vanya possibly be at school?
