Melinda's POV
I kept asking myself, could Vanya really have been admitted to the graduate program?
No, it was impossible!
I had experienced the difficulty of the entrance exam questions myself.
Vanya, a Luna of the pack who had never received financial education, how could she pass?
"Actually, no. I saw that this woman reported to the second teaching building today. She seems to be a newly recruited graduate student in finance. I don't know what her family background is, but because she's good-looking, she's been confessed on the confession wall by several guys today, saying they want her number."
I heard my roommate say this.
"Slut!" Raven had always been intolerant of such women who used their looks to attract attention.
Fawn also couldn't help but click her tongue, "Did she really pass or not? Could it be through some dealings?"
"You don't know? Wolfe has unwritten rules. With her looks, she probably got in through illegal dealings."
Fawn's face was full of disdain. In her opinion, Vanya, being so beautiful, could thrive anywhere without needing to study finance at Wolfe.
Fawn turned to me and said, "I think she's trying to steal your boyfriend and deliberately provoking you."
I felt my face pale, and their words seemed to fade away.
There was only one thought racing in my mind. 'Vanya is here. Won't the lies I told before be easily exposed?'
"Melinda? What's wrong?" Raven waved her hand in front of my eyes, trying to awaken me from my reverie.
I snapped back to reality and said with forced composure, "I... I'm fine. I suddenly don't feel well. I won't go to class this afternoon."
Lying alone in bed, my mind was a mess, and my thoughts were all about how Vanya got into Wolfe.
Could it be that she didn't rely on Cliff but bought her way in?
Thinking of this, I couldn't help but tightly grip the blanket, my heart full of anger and unwillingness.
How much effort I had put in to get into this school!
Over the years, I had studied hard and worked diligently to stand where I am today.
But those rich people?
They were born with everything and now could easily achieve my long-held dream just by spending some money.
This was so unfair!
After everyone left the dormitory, I hesitated for a long time and finally called Cliff.
Unlike before, this time, the phone rang for a long time before being answered.
In the past, no matter how busy Cliff was, he would always answer my call at the first ring, but now...
"Alpha Cliff, Luna Vanya was admitted to the graduate program, right?" I tried to make my voice sound steady, but the slight choke betrayed me.
I knew I had just cried, and my voice couldn't be completely normal.
Cliff was silent for a moment, then slowly said, "Yes."
"How could Luna Vanya so easily be admitted to the graduate program? I've seen this year's questions, and they are clearly difficult." I couldn't help but complain, feeling a bit resentful towards Cliff.
He knew how much I longed to be admitted to the graduate program at Wolfe. With his words, I could easily become a graduate student.
But he always insisted that I work hard on my own and never thought of helping me.
Now, Vanya had easily entered this school.
Cliff on the other end of the phone didn't respond, and I guessed he didn't know how to answer me.
After all, Vanya had no background in finance before. If someone with no foundation could so easily enter the top financial institution, there seemed to be only one possibility - through illegal dealings.
"Melinda, calm down and study hard. Even if you don't get into the graduate program, I will arrange for you to study abroad through Wolfe, which is more suitable for you than taking the graduate exam here." Cliff's voice came, trying to comfort me.
But his words made me more convinced that Vanya had entered the school through dealings.
Studying abroad was certainly a fair choice, but I didn't want to give up the identity of being a graduate student here.
This school enjoyed a high reputation internationally, and being a graduate student here was even more prestigious than studying abroad.
However, I also knew that for my future, I must not lose Cliff's support at this time.
Thinking of this, I whispered, "Alpha Cliff, are you still angry with me?"
"Melinda..." Cliff wanted to say something but stopped.
"I know I'm wishful thinking. You've been very kind to me, and I'm grateful. I can't control my wolf, and I can feel it craving its mate, but I know you can't choose me as your mate. I'm sorry... I won't do that again."
I tried to make my tone sound sincere, hoping to regain Cliff's favor.
"It's best if you think this way." Cliff's tone softened a bit, "If your foot still hurts, remember to call me, and I'll have Elliot take you to the hospital."
"Okay." I simply responded and hung up the phone.
Looking at the phone screen, a trace of loneliness flashed through my heart.
Once, whenever I said I was not feeling well, Cliff would personally come to take care of me, but now...
Could all this be because of Vanya's appearance?
I distinctly remembered that Cliff used to dislike Vanya very much.
He even scolded Vanya for me.
