Vanya's POV
After Aldridge hung up the phone, I couldn't help but let out a cold laugh.
Mirabel was already plotting to get her hands on the inheritance my father left me.
At the slightest sign of movement, she couldn't wait to instigate Aldridge to investigate my bank account.
It seemed she had long planned to seek personal gain from it.
I immediately dialed the bank's private line, and the call was quickly answered, "Hello, Ms. Dalton, how may we assist you?"
"I want to transfer assets to another account," I stated decisively.
I silently swore in my heart that I would not let Mirabel's conspiracy succeed.
"Alright, Ms. Dalton. We will have a specialist at your service shortly."
I said coldly, "If any family members inquire about my bank assets, please ask for my permission first."
"Understood, Ms. Dalton."
I hung up the phone.
I used some money to buy that obsidian rough, and my father's legacy had always been stored in that account, known only to Aldridge.
It was unexpected that Aldridge would tell Mirabel about such an important matter.
It was clear that Mirabel was not someone to be underestimated.
On the day of enrollment, I woke up early, and Jenny had already prepared everything I needed.
Watching me pack alone, Jenny couldn't help but say, "Where's Alpha Cliff? Knowing today is your first day of school, and he doesn't even come back to help."
"It's okay, Jenny. I'm more relaxed without him," I replied.
Hearing this, Jenny paused and said, "In the past, Luna Vanya, didn't you wish for Alpha Cliff to come home every day?"
'Ding ding—'
My phone rang. I glanced at the missed call on my phone. It was from Theodore.
He had been like a missing person for the past few days, no news at all. Why was he calling suddenly?
A low, amused voice came from the other end of the phone, "Today is your first day of school. Congratulations."
"You must have known about my exam results already, right?"
"More or less," there was a pause on the other end, "Have you packed everything you need for school?"
"I was just about to..."
Before I could finish, I realized something. Soon, my gaze fell on the outside of the floor-to-ceiling window, where a black Porsche was parked downstairs, and Theodore had already gotten out of the car.
"I'll drive you."
I couldn't tell if I was mistaken, but I heard a hint of tenderness in Theodore's voice.
Derrick came to help move the luggage. Seeing these two strange men, Jenny seemed a bit at a loss.
"I, I can help..."
Jenny tried to lift the luggage, but Derrick naturally took it from her hands, making a shushing gesture.
He winked, his peach blossom eyes full of charm. "This kind of thing is a man's job."
Even Jenny, who was no longer young, couldn't help but blush.
Watching Derrick's antics, Theodore just took the bag from my hand. "Get in the car."
"Derrick rented a house next to the school. It's very convenient for you to live there."
"Rented a house? I remember the houses next to Wolfe are not cheap."
After I received the admission notice, I had already gone to see. Those houses were not only expensive but also very scarce.
By the time I went to look, the houses had basically been rented out.
"It cost me a fortune!"
Derrick gritted his teeth, but he only dared to complain in a low voice.
While driving, Derrick glanced at Theodore in the rearview mirror and muttered something.
"What did you say?" I didn't hear clearly, so I asked again.
Theodore said, "He said, it's okay, not too expensive."
At that moment, the car turned sharply and stopped suddenly. I didn't sit steady, and the next second, I fell into a broad, hard embrace.
A cold, steady voice came into her ears from above, "Derrick, drive more carefully."
"Got it!" Derrick replied irritably.
I don't know why he suddenly got angry.
The car slowly pulled up outside the upscale community opposite Wolfe. Before I had time to look around, Theodore had placed an electronic card gently in my hand.
He leaned slightly, looking at me intently, and said softly, "Your personal information has been entered. You can swipe this card to enter and exit in the future. This community has excellent confidentiality, and most of the residents are prominent figures in the industry. It will be beneficial for you to make new friends and expand your network."
I looked up at the imposing community building in front of me.
Before coming to Wolfe, I had thought about renting a place here, but the houses were not simply described by the word "expensive."
Wanting to move in required a series of strict qualification assessments, which was extremely difficult.
Theodore was able to handle all this for me, and it was imaginable that he must have gone through a lot of trouble.
"Go inside and see if the layout of the house suits your taste," Theodore's voice rang out again, his eyes full of softness, as if he was afraid I would not like it, cautiously expecting.
With some curiosity, I walked into the building and took the elevator to the fifteenth floor, which was in the middle, with a broad view and unique scenery.
When I took out the electronic card and opened the door, a faint fragrance came to my nose.
The interior decoration style of the house hit my eyes, high-end and simple, every detail precisely hitting my aesthetic point.
It was exactly the style I had always liked.
