Tabitha's POV
I plunged into darkness, running frantically alone.
"Where are my children?" I couldn't help wondering.
I had only one thought in my mind. That was, to find my children quickly so that they wouldn't be afraid.
I ran tirelessly for a long, long time, and suddenly a light appeared before my eyes. I found myself standing in a meadow.
At the end of the meadow, there was a rainbow bridge, and the other side was enveloped in clouds and mist. Would my children be there?
Gradually, a figure appeared on the other side of the rainbow bridge. That was Joanna.
She was wearing the dress she wore when she went to pick up her crush at the airport that day, looking very beautiful. As usual, she waved at me.
"Joanna!"
I was overjoyed and ran towards the rainbow bridge without hesitation. Just as my foot was about to step on it, I suddenly heard two baby voices.
"Mom!"
I turned around and saw two adorable kids. The boy looked like Derek, and the girl was just the spitting image of me.
"My dear, finally, there you are!"
I squatted down and tried to hold them in my arms, but when my hand reached out towards the two kids, my fingers went straight through their bodies.
I incredulously looked down at my hands, as my body gradually became transparent.
"How come?"
The children were right in front of me, but I couldn't touch them.
The two kids, meanwhile, smiled at me and their faces were like the sun in the sky.
"Mom, you must live well!" the kids said as they pushed me away, and my body fell into a bottomless abyss.
I stretched out my hand with a deep reluctance in my eyes. "No! Joanna, babies!" My body fell in the long darkness.
I suddenly opened my eyes. "My babies!"
"Tabitha, you finally woke up," came Derek's anxious voice.
I looked around only to find that neither my children nor Joanna was here.
I was in a hospital, with a strong smell of disinfectant, a white ceiling, and the liquid in the drip bottles falling down bit by bit.
After a while, my eyes finally flickered and my thoughts returned to reality. I murmured to myself, "I'm not dead?"
I looked at my hands. My right hand couldn't move and the fingers of my left hand were injured in multiple places, reminding me of the night when I tightly grasped the ground due to giving birth.
"Oh right, my children!" I thought.
"Where are my children? Where are they?" I abruptly grabbed Derek by the collar.
Derek's face darkened, unsure of what to say to me.
"Tabitha, you need to rest well first, and when your body has fully recovered..."
I, however, grabbed Derek as if I were crazy. "Tell me, where are my children?"
"They have already died."
"Died..." I was like being frozen, my eyes wide open. As tears welled up in my eyes, my body stayed motionless and stiff.
Derek gently hugged me. "Tabitha, we will have another child in the future."
His words just hit a nerve. My anger was ignited.
I desperately pushed him away. "Go away. I don't want you. I only want my children!"
"Don't move around. Be careful of the backflow of the IV drip," Derek reminded.
I lowered my head and glanced at the end of the intravenous tube on the back of my hand, which was unexpectedly stained with blood.
There was already a backflow. I tore off the tape, pulled out the syringe, and splattered a large amount of blood.
The white bedsheet suddenly had a few touches of red, which was rather eye-catching.
Staring at the back of my hand, which was bleeding, I said, "Why did you save me? It would have been better if I had died..."
My wolf howled in pain in my heart, "My children! Why do I have to go through all this?"
