Tabitha's POV
After I finished saying so, I threw the phone aside and did what Alice told me to do.
"Tabitha, in this situation, I can't do the surgery for you. You have to rely on yourself and give birth to the pups as soon as possible. Otherwise, they will die due to lacking oxygen. Just push hard, your cervix is dilated."
I felt a baby's head descending. Without the protection of amniotic fluid, both babies were moving around in my belly.
They were like stranded fish on the beach, struggling, just like me.
"Babies, you must hold on. Daddy will come soon. Everything will be fine. I'm here with you. I'll never give up on you, and you can't give up either."
I had been through this once, but now again, I felt even more fear and pain.
My whole body was trembling crazily. I wasn't sure if it was because of fear or my low body temperature.
It was the worst delivery condition for any pregnant woman. I was in so much pain and I felt suffocated.
The other end of the phone was noisy, but Derek's voice kept coming through it.
"Tabitha, I'll be there soon. Just hold on a little longer.
"Tabitha, I love you, I really love you. No matter what happens, please don't leave me!
"The babies will be OK, and you'll be OK too.
"Tabitha..."
I had no strength left to speak. From a distance, I watched Spencer, as his bullets had run out.
And yet, people from above were like an army of ants, as one fell, another would step in.
Who was this person? Who on earth would spend so much money just to kill me?
What grudge or hatred did this person have against me that he/she would hire so many mercenaries?
Was it Elena?
But subconsciously, I felt that Elena couldn't have done such a thing. Poison and Wolf Shadow's people were good at using poison. If she wanted to take my life, she could have killed me quietly two years ago.
Elena wanted to torment me more than kill me. With such a big operation, it wasn't Elena's style.
But besides Elena, I couldn't figure out who I had offended.
The pain was making me numb and I fiercely dug my left hand into the damp soil on the ground, trying to alleviate the pain.
My gaze gradually lost focus as I watched the heavy rain as if I had returned to that snowy night when I lost my first child.
Was such a tragedy going to happen again tonight? Was I going to lose them?
"Tabitha, push harder! A baby's head is out."
The encouraging voice of Alice brought me back to reality.
I dug my fingertips deep into the soil, exerting all my strength even though I had already run out of energy.
There was only one thought in my mind, and that was to bring them to the world safely.
"Babies, I'll do my best and so will you. You must live. You must make it."
I was pushing the baby out little by little. Meanwhile, Spencer was shot.
He had bought so much time for me, and I could see seven or eight people sliding towards us like zombies.
The danger was getting closer, but Alice remained focused on helping me deliver my babies.
"Tabitha, one is out."
"Baby, my baby!" My haggard face was filled with joy.
With the experience of delivering the first one, the second one was out too.
"Let me see the babies," I said breathlessly.
Alice's face looked grim. "Tabitha, they are not breathing..."
My wolf was heartbroken. "No, my babies! How could this happen?"
