Derek's POV
My mood was conflicted. I wanted to grant Tabitha freedom, but it had to be under my control.
On the island, danger was unpredictable, and any unexpected event could haunt me for life.
"Yes, Alpha Derek. I will arrange for her elimination immediately."
A few minutes later, Devin ran over in a panic and said, "Something is wrong, Alpha Derek. The tracking device on Tabitha has been turned off."
I flicked away the cigarette I was holding and stared at him. "What do you mean?"
"Not long ago, I checked the device myself and there was no issue. It's not that there's no signal—it's like it just vanished! The device is very durable and hard to destroy, so Tabitha must have turned it off herself."
I furrowed my brows. Clearly, this was Tabitha's doing.
She guessed that I would eliminate her in this round, and she had already made up her mind to enter the Black Wolf Guild, so she made the first move.
I shouldn't have underestimated her. She was no longer the innocent girl she used to be.
The island was vast, and they would be there for months. With the tracking device disabled, finding her would be extremely difficult.
"Start searching from where the signal disappeared. Move quickly."
Devin replied with a helpless look, "It's ... out in the ocean."
Alvin exclaimed, "Tabitha really cut off her escape route."
I clenched the armrests tightly, veins standing out on my hands. "Contact them and find Tabitha as soon as possible. Our identities can be exposed if necessary. Send more people over to search and inform me immediately once she is found!"
"Understood, Alpha Derek."
I know all too well about the grudge between Tabitha and Jamar. When they were parachuting, Jamar deliberately headed toward Tabitha.
Even though our guys were there too, with those strong winds at play, we lost track of her.
Now that Tabitha had abandoned her tracking device. How could I feel at ease?
Tabitha disappeared completely into the jungle.
Leo prayed in my heart, "Tabitha, please be safe and sound.
"I will find you, no matter the cost.”
Tabitha's POV
This was the freest period of my life. Despite the danger and hardship, I've finally shaken off the chains that bound me.
From the very start, this was my plan. I had been deceiving Derek.
If I hadn't done this, how else could I fully break free from him?
As long as I wasn't eliminated, advanced to the final, and got bought by Black Wolf Guild, I would completely sever from Derek.
I was very cautious and even dared not to make a fire at night, for fear of revealing my location.
I need to keep moving non-stop.
The island had a towering mountain, whose summit was where the final showdown would happen.
Along the way, I came across numerous corpses, all of whom had been killed before me.
I felt lucky, as I had not encountered any shifters yet, only some wild animals.
However, just as I was about to start climbing the mountain, my luck ran out.
No matter how cautious I'd been along the way, I couldn't dodge fate forever.
I was collecting wild fruits, and in order to leave no trace of my presence, I tried to eat fruits only.
As the sun set, Jamar appeared, leaning against a tall tree, glaring fiercely with his arms crossed. "It's been ages, you bitch. Do you know how long I've been searching for you?"
Behind another tree, one of Jamar's lackeys held a green fruit, his eyes turning sinister as he bit into it, letting the juice drip down his fingers. Against his malicious expression, it seemed almost like blood.
"You like running, huh? Let's see how you escape this time.
"There is no one here, so we can do whatever we want."
I realized I'd walked right into their trap—they must've set their sights on me already!
I instinctively stepped back, only to collide with a strong embrace.
"Where do you think you're going?"
I was somewhat surprised that the guy with his hair covering his right eye actually allied with Jamar!
In the time we'd been apart, his hair had grown long enough to cover half his face.
My wolf became alert in my heart. Now the situation became even more challenging.
