Derek's POV
The salesperson, perhaps noticing I was standing there for quite some time, spoke up, "Alpha Derek, do you like this wedding dress? It may not fit Miss Sutton perfectly, but she can try it on. There is still some time before the wedding, and we can make adjustments according to her measurements ASAP."
I shook my head and left decisively.
I owed Tabitha way more than just a wedding or a dress.
I doubted I would ever be able to repay what I owed her in this lifetime.
After I changed into the tuxedo selected by Daphne, the salesperson squatted beside me to straighten my trousers, showering me with compliments.
"Alpha Derek, you are truly handsome, elegant, and dashing. Your wedding with Miss Sutton will definitely garner worldwide attention."
I had worn formal attire many times before, but it was the first time for me to wear a wedding tuxedo. However, it wasn't for marrying the love of my life.
I kept a straight face, not feeling the least delighted.
"Alpha Derek, is there something you're not happy with? Just let me know. We still have time to fix things," offered the salesperson, her tone nervous.
"No need. Just wrap up this suit and the wedding dress that I looked at earlier."
"Sure thing, Alpha Derek."
When I came out, Daphne had already taken off her wedding dress, waiting for me in a wheelchair.
"Derek, I've made lunch reservations. Let's eat together!" she suggested.
I glanced at my watch. replying, "I've got a meeting. You go ahead."
"Derek." She reached out and grabbed my sleeve, her face showing a hint of nervousness. "Our wedding will happen as planned, right?"
We were supposed to hold it last month, but I pushed it back by a whole month citing Kyrian's injury as an excuse.
I bet she must be feeling anxious.
"Yeah, everything's set. Don't worry. I gotta go now," I gently pulled my sleeve from her grip and replied coldly.
I got in the car, but I didn't tell Rolf to start driving. After a while, he turned back and asked, "Alpha Derek, are we going back to the office?"
"No. Go do something for me."
"Sure thing. What is it?"
"Help me set up a wedding venue—ASAP."
Rolf scratched his head. "But your wedding with Miss Sutton is still a week away. If we do it now, those flowers will wither, won't they?"
"I owed Tabitha a wedding."
"But..." He hesitated before finally nodding. "Alright."
I knew deep down that no matter what I did, I wouldn't earn Tabitha's forgiveness, but I still wanted to try my best to make it up to her.
"I'm not going to the office. Let's go to the baby care store. And bring me a designer."
"Are you redecorating your house again?"
"To be precise—it's for a nursery."
"I think the one Tabitha decorated before was really nice. Plus, it was in your love nest. She decked out every detail."
I shook my head in denial. "That villa holds nothing but sad memories for her. From now on, I want her to be safe, happy, and healthy."
My wolf murmured inside me, "Let's hope there's still time to make up for your mistakes."
Third person's POV
Daphne watched Derek's departing figure, feeling perturbed. Now, the only thing she could hold onto was this promise he made.
Turning around, she had nothing except bodyguards by her side.
Her poker-faced father was gone, same as her loving mother.
Even her kids were sent away by Derek. Right now, all she had left was him.
She swore to herself that she wouldn't let anyone ruin this wedding.
With that thought, she dialed a number, ordering, "Look up someone for me. Her name's Tabitha."
"Okay."
"I wanna know everything about her."
"Got it."
