Derek's POV
Tabitha learned about John's situation from the doctor, and I didn't know what she felt like.
The good news was that John was fine, but the bad news was that he fell into a coma again.
Tabitha sighed heavily. I knew that she and the unborn children were John's last hope in this world. If it weren't for Tabitha, John would have been dead by now.
I strode in, casting a tall shadow over Tabitha. "Tabitha," I said.
As soon as Tabitha saw me, her face was filled with desolation, and her voice was tinged with hatred. She said, "What are you here for? To see if I'm dead?"
Once upon a time, those eyes used to be filled with love and gentleness when she looked at me. Now there was only contempt and hatred left.
My mind was filled with her adorable image when she deeply loved me in the past. How could I have expected that the two of us would gradually end up like this today?
Now, she would feel annoyed even with just one glance at me.
I sighed silently and said, "Tabitha, I will find your biological parents for you."
I knew Tabitha's personality too well. Now I had to do it this way to attract her attention to me.
Sure enough, Tabitha, who had already turned away, turned her head towards me and asked, "What did you say?"
"I just found out that you and Daphne were swapped."
When it came to the mystery of her origin, Tabitha reluctantly said a few more words to me, "You don't need to waste your energy on it. Mark had already inquired about it when he was alive.
"The hospital back then was burned down in a fire, and even the administrator was long gone. There's no way to investigate it."
"There is one more person who knows the truth."
Tabitha's eyes flickered. "Are you talking about Megan?"
"Yes, she is the instigator. No one knows who your biological father is better than her."
"She might not tell you. I was planning to wait until Dad recovered before asking him, but I didn't expect such a thing to happen." Tabitha looked extremely fragile.
I felt sorry for her. Why would all those happen to her?
I gently embraced her shoulders and said softly, "Tabitha, I've told you that you still have me. I will always be with you.
"I've called off my marriage with Daphne. I'm not marrying her. You are the one and only Luna of the Black Thorn Pack."
If it weren't for Daphne's foolish acts, I wouldn't have disregarded Randall's dying request.
Unfortunately, Tabitha no longer cared. She looked at me with cold eyes and showed me a mocking smile. "Do you think that I still care about you now?"
"I know you might not care about me, and you might even hate me, but this is the truth I've promised you to find out, Tabitha. I'm not trying to shift the blame. I admit that I'm responsible for John's incident, but there's a hidden hand working behind me."
My expression was calm and composed, but my voice was filled with intensity. "Elena's death has raised more and more questions. Recently, I've noticed something wrong. These seemingly unrelated events are actually connected, and I even suspect that everything might have been directed toward you from the very beginning."
"Me?"
"Yes, Elena's death might have been just a trigger. The person behind the scenes could be connected to where you came from.
"For now, this is just my speculation, but I will work to uncover the truth as quickly as possible. Tabitha, what happened today might be a coincidence, but it might not be next time.
"Whether it's related to you or not, I hope you won't reject my offer. Let me protect you for the sake of our children."
