Tabitha's POV
"Dad, you can't leave. If you go, who will protect me in the future? They will bully me, just like when I was a child."
"My poor daughter."
At that moment, Dad shifted into a silver-gray wolf, his eyes filled with love and concern.
I tried my best to persuade him, "Dad, you haven't even seen the birth of my babies. How can you leave? Can you bear to let me suffer alone in this world? My babies don't have a father. Do you want them to be without a grandfather too?"
John's wolf twitched his ears slightly and his expression changed a bit.
He looked at me gently, his eyes seemed to be saying, "Tabitha, you are the person I worry about the most."
I grabbed his claw tightly and said, "So, you have to stay, Dad. The babies cannot be without a grandfather. I know you're tired, but do it for me, for the babies. If you leave, I won't have any family left to rely on in this world."
John's wolf did not answer. He just looked at me silently, and I didn't know what he was thinking.
My tears rolled down in big drops as I knelt in front of John's wolf.
"I have already lost my mother. I don't want to lose you too, Dad. Aren't you the one who loves me the most? Please don't go, okay?"
John's wolf sighed helplessly and let out a low sob. "Okay, I won't leave."
"Dad!" I abruptly opened my eyes and woke up from the dream. My wolf paced uneasily in my heart. "I hope Dad really doesn't leave me."
Derek quickly grabbed my hand. "Tabitha, how do you feel? Are you alright?"
I ignored his questions. "Where's my dad? How is he?"
Just then, Rolf rushed over quickly. "Good news, John just showed a will to survive."
I lifted the blanket and was about to get out of bed. "Where is he?"
"He's in the Intensive Care Unit. Just after a round of resuscitation had been completed, fortunately, John suddenly showed a will to survive. The doctors managed to rescue him smoothly. Currently, it is not allowed to visit him. Tabitha, you can only take a look from outside."
"Okay, let me take a look."
I came to the Intensive Care Unit and looked at John, who was in a coma, from a distance through the glass.
At the thought of the dream I had just had, tears slid down once again.
The past two years of trauma, along with over half a year of living as a vegetable, and the blow he just experienced.
John was really tired. He wanted to give up his life and leave this world.
It was me who forcibly kept him here, so he could continue to survive relying on the instrument.
But as I watched John, surrounded by doctors and nurses, with various instruments inserted into his body, I felt a twinge of guilt in my heart.
Was I too selfish? Dad was already desperate with this world.
I insisted on holding him back and making him stay, regardless of the physical and mental torment he was going through.
Even so, I didn't want to experience the pain of saying goodbye to loved ones again.
If John left, I would really have no family.
"Tabitha, you still have me." Derek's voice echoed in my ears.
I pushed away his hand and a cold voice came out of my mouth. "Don't touch me! Stay away from me!"
John became what he was now all thanks to Derek, so why was he still pretending to be kind and worried?
Derek parted his lips, but he couldn't utter a complete sentence.
"Tabitha, I..."
"I don't want to see you, Alpha Derek."
I held my stomach, and the wound throbbed faintly.
I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my stomach. The long-lost sensation of pain hit me, turning my world upside down.
Derek quickly supported me. "Tabitha, are you okay?"
I was in so much pain that I couldn't speak. I furrowed my brows and weakly said, "It hurts..."
"Sit down quickly. I'll call the doctor to come."
"No need." I weakly tugged at his sleeve. "Get me some food and pour a glass of water. I'm fine."
