Alpha's Wife Hunt

Chapter 323

Ch. 323 / 840 May 06, 2026

Tabitha's POV

For safety reasons, I took a helicopter back to the city.

As soon as I got home, Dad rushed over, eager to know if Derek and I had patched things up.

"How did everything go with Derek today?"

Faced with his concerned expression, I had no choice but to lie. "It was all good, Dad. Nothing to worry about. We spent the whole day together."

"That's good to know. I was worried you still held a grudge against him. The twins are growing up day by day, and they can sense stuff too. Only when you stay relaxed and happy can they be healthy."

With that, he smiled and took me to see his latest work, a beautiful handmade wooden bed.

"Check this out! I've been working on this crib for days, and finally, it's done."

The crib had cute little animals carved into each corner, and they were polished smooth enough that even if the babies bit them, they wouldn't get hurt.

There was even a bedbell hanging above it. The crib was so delicate, even comparable to those in the baby care stores.

"Dad, your hands are magic!"

He beamed, "Though I can't provide material stuff for your kids as a grandpa given my status now, I'll make sure they get all the love and support they need from me. Since you're carrying twins, I made the crib extra big."

"That's great! I'm sure they are gonna love it. But Dad, there's something I wanna ask..."

The word grandpa reminded me of my own background.

It was reasonable that Holly didn't pay much attention, but didn't Dad notice that his kid got swapped?

While I was thinking, he rummaged through his small box and pulled out several wooden toys.

"Take a look at these rattles! I made two of them so that the twins can play together in their crib. Honestly, in the past two years, I had no will to live at all. If it weren't for you, I would've given up and died a long time ago.

"Now that I managed to pull through, the life's getting better. After the babies are born, I'll definitely take good care of them. By the way, what were you about to say just now?"

I swallowed the words that were on the tip of my tongue. 'Maybe later,' I thought to myself.

Anyway, there was plenty of time ahead. I would wait until Dad recovered a bit more before bringing it up.

After all, he didn't know that Holly had already died. If he accidentally found out about it, it would definitely be a huge blow.

"It's nothing," I finally replied.

Suddenly, Dad sighed, "It's all my fault. I failed to keep the heirloom of the Silver Moon Pack! It would've been perfect to pass that moonstone necklace set on to your babies."

When Hope Ranch got auctioned off, many of his valuable belongings were sold too, including a painting by a renowned artist.

The other stuff wasn't as big of a deal, but the loss of the moonstone necklace set really bothered him.

"It's okay, Dad. I'll find out where it is and redeem it for you when I do. Don't worry. Everything will be fine. It's getting late now. You should get some rest."

"You're right. You should go to bed, too. Pregnant women can't stay up late. I'm just overexcited. I'll go to sleep after finishing these carvings."

Seeing Dad's smiling face, I felt that my patience was worth it. Nothing beat having family by my side.

"Okay, but remember, don't tire yourself out." As I stood up to leave, Dad suddenly stood up to stop me, as if recalling something. "Wait!"

He took out an obsidian pendant from under the pillow and said, "Put it on. It'll keep you safe."

"Dad, you know I didn't believe in any of this at all."

"I know you don't, but I do. I want you to be safe. Please put it on for the sake of your old man."

I finally nodded.

"Dad, don't worry. I'll be just fine."

"Get back to your room and rest up. You can't overwork yourself during these first three months of your pregnancy, get it?"

"Yeah."

After giving him a few more reminders, I returned to my room, trying to get some sleep, but today's events left me wide awake.

I couldn't stop thinking about who hired Lucian. Who on earth wanted to harm me?

I tossed and turned in my bed, unable to fall asleep no matter how. Finally, I picked up my phone, trying to kill time, only to be bombarded with news about Derek's wedding tomorrow.

Great, now I was even more annoyed. I turned off my phone in frustration and tossed it aside.

Gazing at the bright moon outside the window, I wondered how excited Daphne must be feeling right now.

Was she tossing and turning just like I did that night before mating with Derek?

As I was thinking, a figure suddenly appeared in my room.

I sat up straight, looking at the man under the moonlight.

"What the hell are you doing here?" I piped up with irritation.
