Alpha's Little Miracle

Chapter 80

Ch. 80 / 127 Aug 27, 2025

LUCIEN’S POV

I watched Angelou cry for a long while, and Alpha Grayson and I kept our silence, as that seemed to be the only way to comfort her.

“I’m so sorry, Alpha Lucien.” She apologized, wiping her nose and sniffing. Alpha Grayson took out a napkin and gave it to her. “Thank you.” She said, wiping her hands and face with it. “Monica’s having a private burial. We’re not letting anyone witness it. It’ll be just us, and our daughter, like it ought to have been. If only we had more moments together. Thanks for listening to me bawl and cry, and good luck with the vampires you’re chasing.”

Angelou looked away, blinking more tears back.

“If there are more of those creatures that killed Monica, please avenge my daughter.” She pleaded, looking down at her hands, which she had knit together.

After about half an hour later, Alpha Grayson and Angelou stood to leave. They had drank the tea even in its already cold state, and we had talked more about the silent vampires.

However, when they were about to leave, I decided to take them into Monica’s apartment so they could take whatever they felt they would need.

“Oh, that would be sweet of you.” Angelou said with a sad, but grateful smile, and I led them to Monica’s house. At Monica’s house, I dipped my hand into the flowerpot I had seen her hide a certain key in, countless times and luckily, it was in there.

Monica always had a spare key hidden in the pot, and I guessed she had been one who lost things frequently.

I turned the lock and led them in. Almost immediately, Angelou ran to a little mug on the table like she had known it had been there.

“Oh, Monica.” She let out softly.

Then almost immediately, she started grabbing everything she could find and carry, hugging them to her.

“Angelou!” Alpha Grayson called, sharply.

“I’m taking it all.” Angelou insisted, with a shaky, but determined voice.

Angelou ended up taking half the things in the house, loading it into the car, and I had to alert the house owner that Monica’s parents were taking her things away. It was only then that Angelou was able to take everything she needed to take.

When they had left, I locked up my house and left for the forest. Walking in deeper and deeper until I was far away from the city.

Then I sat with my back against a tree, thinking and brooding over everything that had happened.

There was the grief I had caused Angelou and Alpha Grayson, and there was Adria, the vampire I had fallen in love with.

I had to cut Adria off, but how was I supposed to do it? Avoiding her was really going to be an issue because we were at the same college. At some point, I’d have to face her.

After thinking about it for a while, I called the school and informed them I had to take an urgent leave due to personal matters.

Days passed, and I practically lived in the forest, feeding on fruits even though I had no appetite and thinking of everything from the time I had met Adria to the current dilemma I was in.

Then, on the fifth day of me being in the forest, I had an unexpected visitor.

It was Mrs. Williams—Adria’s mother.

“Good day ma’am.” I greeted, sitting up straight.

“It was quite difficult to find you.” She replied, crunching dried twigs underneath her foot as she moved to sit against a tree opposite me.

“Oh.” I replied, wondering why she had tried to find me, but not voicing it out.

“Adria’s been having a hard time, and you clearly are. I know it’s hard, and you’re trying to think things out, but I really don’t think leaving her is the best option.” She began, in a soothing voice.

“It seems to be, to me. We’re just not meant to be together.”

“Love is powerful. With love, you can overcome everything in the world, and I have faith in the love you and Adria share. I know this can later be a thing of the past you both can laugh about.” She continued, but I couldn’t see it happening.

“Even without us wanting to fight, our inner men will fight. The wolf in me will not stand her, and the vampire she is, will not stand down. We will constantly fight with each other, and our people will not stand for it. You might not know, but we’re currently chasing down killer vampires who keep on killing humans. What am I if I kill vampires, yet keep another close to me? It is simply not possible. We cannot be together.”

“I would advise you to give it a lot of thought. Physical injuries, and a war, can hurt a person indeed, but losing one’s true love can scar for life.” She advised, and her words were added to my list of things to think about.

ADRIA’S POV

For almost a week, Lucien didn’t show up at school. I spent three days at home recovering, and every time Stacy visited my bedside after classes, I was always devastated to hear he hadn’t returned.

And for two days at school, I didn’t see him either. My messages went unread, and he wasn’t even home. My mother had also been sad about it, but she didn’t say a word.

Some nights, I cried, and wished on every star I saw to have him back and for us not to end just like that.

But, everything had been in vain.

My course mates were careful around me as they thought I was traumatized about my experience of Monica kidnapping me and then being killed by a wild animal.

I liked it that way.

I didn’t need them flocking around me and pretending to be nice just so I could spill the full story to them.

Then finally, the next day, I was going to my next class when I saw Lucien and my heart skipped. He looked even more handsome than the last time I remembered him properly, and I was one of the girls in the hallway who had stopped just to stare at him.

The only difference was that they were giggling and chattering to their friends about him in admiration, dying from his beauty, but I wasn’t even smiling, let alone giggling.

Although his face looked tight and a little cold, it didn’t stop my heart from beating loudly. Was he going to acknowledge me?

I stared at him without looking anywhere else, until he was very close, but….

Lucien passed me by.
