Alpha's Little Miracle

Chapter 74

Ch. 74 / 127 Aug 27, 2025

LUCIEN’S POV

I was stunned to the core. Adria was a… My hand which was about to stroke her cheek, went down slowly. How had I not seen the evident signs? How had I been so oblivious to them? Her pale skin was akin to a vampires, her bony structure… it was all because her body had been fighting with the vampire in her.

Her sickness, the dreams she told me she had been having. Her vampire had awakened and was trying to take over. I couldn’t believe it. Adria a vampire? My mate?

It meant Monica’s bite had triggered everything. I blinked helplessly as I watched her scream and jerk on the bed.

“Adria…” her mum called, already with another herbal mix but the little ceramic dish fell to the floor spilling the mixture and shattering into pieces as she saw Adria’s eyes which were a bloodshot red. Her hands flew to her mouth and she looked at me.

“You must leave.” She said hastily as she bent to move closer to Adria but Adria lunged for her, willing to harm her for coming close but I stopped her by pushing her away from her mother and her gaze focused on me instead. I got up from the bed where I was a little at a disadvantage and she instantly jumped on the bed, and flew at me.

I caught her in my arms and she bared her teeth, aiming for the vein in my neck.

“Adria!” I called, pushing her away but instead her claws protracted, long and sharp and aimed it straight for my chest. I bent backwards 0ut of her reach and lunged for me with more force.

“Adria!” I called once more but she was intent on destroying me, and I had no clue how to stop her or return her to her previous state.

I held both her hands, and was surprised when she pulled on my strength and raised her legs high, pushing me backwards. I didn’t want to hurt Adria. Already, I had hurt her by overlooking Monica’s dangerousness. I wasn’t going to do it again.

Adria’s mother immediately prepared another mixture of herbs to feed to Adria with shaking hands.

“Can you hold her down? I’m going to force the liquid in.” She said hastily as she tried desperately to make sure only a drop of the liquid in her hand went into the rest.

Adria snarled and bared her teeth. She was quite strong for someone who had been unable to move more than a few inches, seconds ago.

“Damn it!” Her mother shrieked as more than a drop fell into the rest of the mixture. She poured it all to the floor recklessly and started to make another. Adria squeezed her hands out of mine when my focus had been on her mother who looked miserable and she struck.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t fast enough and her claws brushed my neck. Light, but just that single slash got blood pouring down my neck.

“Adria! Get a grip of yourself!” I shouted, then managed to hold onto her arm and turn her sharply so I could hold both of her arms together behind her.

She was too strong and kept on jerking and screaming, so I threw myself to the floor so I could hold her better.

“I’m coming.” Her mum said, bringing another mixture for Adria to drink. Adria shook and snarled, not wanting her mother to come near her and then I managed to hold her wrists with one of my hands and with the other, held back her head so her chin was tilted up and mouth open as she screamed.

Her mother poured all the contents into her mouth shakily and it gurgled in Adria’s mouth as she continued to scream, a few bits splashing out. After taking it in, she began to jerk violently with her eyes rolled up in her sockets.

I got scared, wondering what was going to happen to Adria. How could she be a vampire? Why was she a vampire? Why was she my mate? How had all these happened?

I held onto her even more strongly as she jerked violently and quickly and then the jerking reduced to once in about fifteen seconds.

Adria’s mother kept her eyes fixed on Adria in fear and worry and I couldn’t help wondering how she had kept a vampire hidden for eighteen good years. How had she done it? It only meant one thing and that was the fact that she wasn’t normal either.

Slowly, Adria relaxed against me and I watched as her eyes closed and fangs reduced. Her claws were also retracted and her hand laid limp on the floor.

“Thank you.” Her mother said breathily, staring at Adria. Then she went to Adria’s bed, and started to change the coverings. “Can you wait a while? I’ll like to change the covers.” She asked, and I nodded.

As I held Adria, she grew a little warmer. She was no longer cold like she had been before she turned into my worst enemy. I stared at her sadly, breathing peacefully was the girl I had wanted to risk my everything for. She was the human I had loved dearly. Only she hadn’t been a human. She had simply being a locked vampire.

Adria’s mum finished with the bed, and I lifted Adria gently into my arms, and laid her on the bed.

Adria’s mother sighed as she stared at Adria and then she looked at me.

“Thank you very much. I… I know you must be curious.”

“If I’m curious, I’ll ask questions. For now, I’m not that curious.” I told her and it wasn’t exactly true. I wanted to ask a million questions but was afraid of the million answers I’d get. “What if it happens again?” I asked, wondering what would happen if I wasn’t around to do what I had done.

“It won’t happen again. At least not for now.” She replied, her gaze switching back to Adria and as I looked at Adria, I was forced to acknowledge the words that had been budding at the back of my mind ever since I saw her fangs.

It was; A vampire and a werewolf can never be together.
