Alpha's Little Miracle

Chapter 75

Ch. 75 / 127 Aug 27, 2025

LUCIEN’S POV

As much as I loved Adria, I knew it would not be accepted. Our love was forbidden. How could Adria have been a vampire? It was very evident that she was a pure breed vampire because there were no punctures on her skin, and she had been too strong for a human turned vampire.

Why had the moon goddess given me a vampire as a mate? Getting a human was acceptable, but a vampire? What was I to do? Vampires were sworn enemies of the wolves. There was no future for them both.

I lamented about the whole thing as I walked back to my house. I didn’t even take a cab because I needed to think. Adria herself wasn’t aware because if she was, I’d have been able to tell because she’d be uncomfortable with me saying stuff about vampires and wolves being the worst enemies to each other.

Why did it have to be when we’d gone too far that this discovery was made? I had fallen too deep—too deep, to start to wonder how I’d redeem myself.

On my front porch, I sat and dialed Zayne’s number. He picked it almost immediately, and I started with a sigh.

“Is anything wrong, Alpha Lucien?” He asked, with a look of concern on his face.

I gave another sigh. “Adria is a vampire.”

For a full minute, Zayne didn’t say a word. He had lost his tongue, his brain was trying to process what he had just heard, and I could almost hear him debating with himself and asking the same questions I needed answers to.

“H…how?” He asked, looking shocked.

“I don’t know much about it. She attacked me tonight, and she was willing to kill me. I think Monica’s bite triggered the vampire in her. It was trying to fight the bite and to achieve that, it had to come out of her, and take over.” I explained in the best way I could, and Zayne was distraught. “As for her being my mate. I have no clue how it came to be.”

ADRIA’S POV

I woke up with a little scream. Not because my dream had not been terrifying, but because I didn’t have the strength to scream.

My body was damp with sweat and I felt like my head was breaking apart. I didn’t know how long I had slept, but nightmares had invaded my dreams in and out.

The dreams were even worse. I saw myself biting people’s necks and having their blood run down my face delightfully, and each time I was chased down desolate and thorny paths, I felt the pain. It was a dream, but I was in pain constantly and the dreams went on non-stop.

Then my door opened and I watched my mother come in. She looked at me and her eyes widened when she saw me awake.

“Adria!” She called, running to me, and sitting on my bed, holding my cheeks, then running her hands over my body. “You’re burning, darling. You have a temperature.” She fussed, leaving my side to go to my table, and she started bringing out her weird bottles with the herbal mixtures she always had.

“Mum.” I called, and she looked at me.

“I’m here, darling. Wait a second. How do you feel?” She asked, placing the bottles on a chair, then bringing them to me. “You’ve been asleep for four days now. You only stir and scream out in your nightmares. Everyone has been so worried. Stacy and the guys, Lucien, they’ve… they’ve all been coming to visit non-stop, and it’s just been so…” She was saying frantically as she mixed the drugs, with tears gathering in her eyes and her voice breaking.

The drugs sizzled and brought out steam, and just then, a memory flashed before my eyes. It was a memory of her drug being forced down my throat. Bitter and burning hot as it went down my throat and almost immediately, I recalled everything that had happened the last time I was awake.

I had become something that I only saw in my dreams. That night, I had become the other me that always haunts my dreams.

“I’ve never felt so hopeless before and…” My mother’s tears fell rapidly down her cheeks as she continued to mix the drugs.

“Mum. What’s wrong with me? I… I became a… I… “ I was saying, but more memories of the fight with Lucien poured into my mind, and it felt like only yesterday that I had tried to kill Lucien. “Is there something I don’t know, mother? Is there a story about me you are keeping?” I asked, moving to grab her skirt, and she choked in her tears.

Then she finally stopped the mixing of her potion.

“I knew this day would come.” She said, sniffing, and I blinked hard, as if it would confirm that I wasn’t dreaming. “But the thing is, I don’t even know where to start.” She looked up as if she would find answers to my question, and it took a while before she spoke, but I waited patiently.

Then, she began. “First… these… these are not drugs.” She stared at the drugs she had been mixing, and my gaze fell to them. “They are potions.”

“Po…?” I couldn’t complete my words.

“I am a witch.” She said, and my mind was blown beyond proportion.

My mother was a witch like in the movies? But… but she hadn’t given a single clue, she had… How… How could she be a witch?

My mother? A witch? I knew werewolves and vampires existed so definitely, witches did, but it was challenging to believe my mother was actually one.

Just then, I recalled her so-called herbal mixtures always worked immediately—like magic.

“I’ve been keeping your true self hidden with my powers, and I’ve been healing you with my potions. Adria… I apologize for not telling you. You… you weren’t really supposed to know. That was why I didn’t say a word.”

“I’m a witch too?” I asked, wondering when witches began to have the urge to bite.

“No. You’re the daughter of the Vampire Queen.”
