The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 606

Ch. 596 / 790 May 05, 2026

The moon hung high in the sky, casting its pale light over the pack’s clearing. The night was still, save for the occasional rustle of leaves in the trees. But there was a tension in the air, a sense that something dark was brewing just beneath the surface.

Esmera stood in the shadows near the edge of the clearing, her eyes narrowed as she scanned the surroundings. She moved like a shadow herself, her footsteps silent on the damp earth. Her expression was one of calculation, her mind clearly focused on the task at hand.

A figure emerged from the trees, cloaked in black, moving with the same quiet grace. The spy from Nyxthorn.

Esmera’s lips curled into a sly smile as she stepped forward to meet him. She had made arrangements for this meeting, knowing that it was the only way to secure her position. Bella was a threat, and she had to be eliminated before she could challenge Esmera’s claim to the title of Luna.

“You’ve been taking too long,” Esmera hissed, her voice low and full of contempt. “I told you, we need to act fast.”

The spy, a tall man with dark eyes and a cold demeanor, didn’t flinch. “It will be done,” he said, his voice smooth and emotionless. “Bella won’t be a problem for much longer.”

Esmera’s eyes gleamed with satisfaction. “Good. We’ll take care of her. Once she’s out of the picture, Kael will have no choice but to return to me. The pack will fall back in line.”

The spy’s lips twisted into a grim smile. “I’ll make sure it happens. But remember, Nyxthorn won’t wait forever. You’ll need to deal with Kael and the other threats soon.”

Esmera nodded, her mind already working on the next steps. She had a plan, one that would rid her of Bella once and for all. But she had to be careful. Too many moves too quickly could expose her intentions.

“I’ll take care of Kael,” Esmera said, her voice icy. “You just do your part.”

The spy inclined his head, then disappeared back into the shadows, leaving Esmera alone in the clearing. She stood there for a moment, a wicked smile curling on her lips as she thought about how close she was to getting everything she wanted.

Meanwhile, Bella was in her den, tossing and turning as she fought against the nightmares that had begun to haunt her. It had started the night after the trial—strange, vivid dreams that left her shaken and confused.

In the dream, a woman with silver hair stood before her, her face calm but filled with an overwhelming sadness. Bella couldn’t place her, but the woman felt familiar, as if she had seen her before.

“You have to listen to me,” the silver-haired woman said in a soft voice. “There is a trial coming for you, one that you cannot escape. You must face it. If you don’t…” The woman’s voice trailed off, her expression turning grave.

“Face the trial?” Bella repeated, her voice trembling. “What trial? What do you mean?”

The silver-haired woman’s eyes filled with sorrow. “You are stronger than you realize. But you must make the right choice, or everything will be lost.”

Bella reached out, desperate to understand, but before she could touch the woman, she vanished, and Bella was left in darkness.

She woke with a start, her heart racing in her chest. The dream had been so real, so vivid, but it made no sense. Who was the woman? What trial was she talking about?

Bella’s breath came in short gasps as she tried to shake off the feeling of unease that clung to her. She glanced around her den, the familiar surroundings offering no comfort. The walls felt like they were closing in on her, the silence oppressive.

She rubbed her eyes, trying to clear the fog that still lingered in her mind. It was just a dream, she told herself. Just a nightmare. But the feeling of foreboding wouldn’t go away.

Bella rose from her bed and walked toward the small window in her den. The moonlight streamed through the trees, casting long shadows on the ground outside. The packhouse was quiet, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.

A faint rustling sound reached her ears, and she froze. It was the unmistakable sound of something—or someone—moving outside her den. Her instincts kicked in, and she moved quickly to the door, peering out into the night.

There was nothing there. Just the empty woods and the distant glow of the packhouse.

Bella sighed, her hand gripping the doorframe as she tried to steady her racing heart. Maybe it was just the aftermath of the dream playing tricks on her mind.

But as she stepped back into her den, her eyes fell on something that made her blood run cold.

Claw marks. Deep, jagged gouges in the walls, as if something—or someone—had scraped its claws down the stone surface.

Bella’s breath caught in her throat as she stared at the marks. She didn’t remember doing this. She had been asleep, hadn’t she? But there they were, unmistakable and terrifying.

The marks were too deep to be from an animal. They were too… precise.

She took a step forward, her mind racing. Had she done this in her sleep? Or had something else caused these marks?

Her heart hammered in her chest as she turned around, the sense of unease growing stronger with each passing second. What was happening to her? And why did it feel like everything was unraveling, piece by piece?

Bella wakes up to find claw marks gouged into the walls of her den—marks she doesn’t remember making.
