The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 611

Ch. 601 / 790 May 05, 2026

The tension in the room was unbearable , as if the very air had thickened with unspoken threats. Bella stood frozen, her pulse hammering in her ears, the prophecy still clutched tightly in her hands. Esmera’s words echoed in her mind, sharp and cold, but before she could react, the door to Kael’s quarters burst open.

Kael strode in, his face tight with fury. His eyes locked onto Esmera, the anger simmering just below the surface. “Enough,” he commanded, his voice low but full of authority.

Esmera didn’t flinch, but Bella could see the flicker of hesitation in her eyes. The blade she had been holding now dangled loosely at her side, though she hadn’t lowered it. “I won’t allow this,” Esmera sneered, glaring at Bella. “You’ll regret crossing me.”

Kael took another step forward, his chest rising and falling with each measured breath. “You’ve already pushed too far, Esmera,” he said, his voice unwavering. “Leave. Now.”

For a long moment, Esmera didn’t move. Then, with a sound like a snake hissing in the grass, she turned on her heel and strode out of the room, her footsteps echoing in the silence she left behind.

Bella exhaled sharply, the tension in her body beginning to ease. But the relief didn’t last long. Kael’s eyes were still on her, and the weight of his gaze made her feel like she was under a microscope. He walked toward her, his expression conflicted.

“You’re safe now,” Kael murmured, his voice softer, though still carrying a note of concern. He reached for her, his fingers brushing lightly against her arm as if to reassure her, but Bella pulled away instinctively, her mind a storm of conflicting emotions. “I won’t let her hurt you again,” he promised.

Bella met his eyes, her heart still racing. “But why does she hate me so much?” she asked, her voice tinged with confusion and frustration. “What did I ever do to her?”

Kael hesitated, his brow furrowing. He took a step back, as though unsure how much to say. “Esmera has her own reasons. Her loyalty has always been to Nyxthorn. She doesn’t trust anything—anyone—that doesn’t fit into her plan for Crescent Howl.”

“But what does she want from me?” Bella pressed, her voice growing more urgent. “Why does she care about me? What’s the connection between her and Nyxthorn?”

Kael’s jaw clenched, his eyes darkening with something like guilt. He opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted by the sound of the door crashing open again. This time, it wasn’t Esmera, but a group of elders—two of the oldest and most powerful members of the pack, their faces grim and filled with disapproval.

“You,” the elder on the left spat, his voice shaking with anger, “are a threat to everything Crescent Howl stands for.” His gaze flicked toward Kael, who stood protectively between Bella and the elders. “We warned you, Kael. She doesn’t belong here.”

Bella’s heart dropped. The elders’ words were a knife to the chest, each one landing like a blow, making her feel smaller, weaker, as though she was nothing but a burden to the pack she had once hoped would accept her.

“You know this isn’t about her,” the elder on the right growled, his voice barely more than a whisper of rage. “It’s about the pack’s survival. If she stays, if she continues to grow in power, she’ll tear everything apart. The prophecy alone—” He broke off with a snort, as though the very idea of the prophecy was something to be dismissed. “Do you really think she can lead us?”

Kael’s eyes flared with fury. “She’s not the threat,” he spat. “Esmera is. And you, all of you, are just too blind to see it.”

The elders exchanged a look, but Bella could feel the pressure mounting. She knew that their decision wasn’t just about her. It was about the very foundation of the pack, about their future and their stability. But how could they sacrifice her—her life, her freedom—just to maintain their fragile order?

“If you don’t remove her, Kael, we will,” the first elder said, his voice cold. “For the good of Crescent Howl.”

Bella took a step back, feeling the weight of the world bearing down on her. Kael had been the only one to stand by her, the only one to protect her, but now… Now the entire pack seemed to be turning on her. She couldn’t stay here. She couldn’t live like this, constantly torn between the pack that rejected her and the man who claimed to care for her. The realization hit her like a tidal wave—she was never going to fit in, no matter how hard she tried.

Kael’s voice, low and filled with resolve, cut through the heavy silence. “You will not take her from me,” he said firmly. “Not now, not ever.”

The elders exchanged frustrated glances, but none of them made a move to challenge Kael’s authority. They knew better than to push him too far, but the air between them remained thick with animosity.

“You’re making a mistake, Kael,” the second elder warned, his eyes narrowed in disgust. “If you refuse to remove her, you’ll regret it. Crescent Howl will pay the price.”

Kael’s lips pressed into a thin line, but before he could respond, Esmera’s voice rang out from the doorway. She stood there, her arms crossed, a smirk playing at the corners of her lips. “I’ve made my decision,” she announced, her voice dripping with malice. “I’m leaving Crescent Howl. I’m going to Nyxthorn.”

Bella’s stomach twisted in dread. What was Esmera playing at? What was she planning now?

Kael turned to face her, his expression unreadable. “You can’t just leave,” he said, his voice betraying his shock. “You’re part of this pack.”

Esmera’s smile widened, her eyes gleaming with satisfaction. “If you choose her,” she said, her voice like ice, “you’ll lose everything. The pack, your allies, your future—everything will be gone. And I will have Nyxthorn.” She turned on her heel and walked out of the room, her final words lingering in the air.
