The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 619

Ch. 609 / 790 May 05, 2026

Bella paced back and forth in the den, her thoughts churning like a storm. The fragment of the prophecy she had discovered haunted her, its words an enigma she couldn’t ignore. “Wolf of Two Worlds”—what did it mean? And why was everyone so desperate to either protect her or destroy her because of it?

She clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms as her frustration mounted. Kael knew more than he was telling her; she was certain of it. Her encounter with Zeryth, the words of the Nyxthorn scouts, even the elders’ hushed whispers—they all pointed to one undeniable truth: she wasn’t just another wolf.

“Enough of this,” she muttered to herself, storming out of her den. She needed answers, and she was done waiting for them.

The air outside was crisp, the moon hanging low in the night sky. The packhouse loomed ahead, its windows glowing faintly with light. Bella didn’t bother knocking as she pushed the heavy door open and stepped inside.

Kael stood near the hearth, staring into the fire, his broad shoulders tense. He didn’t turn as she entered, but his voice was sharp. “Bella, it’s late. You should be resting.”

“I’m done resting,” she snapped, her voice echoing in the quiet room. “You’ve been dodging my questions long enough, Kael. I want the truth. Now.”

Kael sighed heavily, running a hand through his dark hair. “This isn’t the time—”

“Then when is?” Bella interrupted, her anger flaring. “You’ve been keeping things from me since the beginning. The medallion, the prophecy, my connection to Nyxthorn. I deserve to know what’s happening!”

Kael finally turned to face her, his expression conflicted. “It’s not that simple, Bella. The truth is dangerous. Knowing too much could put you in even more danger.”

Bella took a step closer, her eyes blazing. “I’m already in danger, Kael. My entire life has been danger. But I’m not afraid anymore. So stop treating me like a child and tell me what I need to know.”

Kael hesitated, his jaw tightening. He looked away, his gaze fixed on the fire. “The prophecy… it speaks of a wolf born of two worlds. A wolf who could either unite or destroy the packs. When the elders found you as a baby, they thought it might be you. That’s why they kept your origins a secret.”

Bella’s breath caught, her heart pounding. “And what do you think?”

Kael’s eyes met hers, filled with an emotion she couldn’t decipher. “I think you’re stronger than you realize. And I think the prophecy might be more of a warning than a destiny.”

Before Bella could respond, a distant howl pierced the night air. Her body tensed instinctively, and Kael’s expression darkened.

“Nyxthorn,” he muttered, already moving toward the door.

Bella followed, her heart racing. Outside, the pack was already mobilizing. Warriors barked orders as they armed themselves, and scouts darted through the shadows to assess the situation.

“What’s happening?” Bella asked, her voice steady despite the chaos.

“Nyxthorn warriors have breached the borders,” Kael said grimly. “They’re moving fast. We need to stop them before they reach the packhouse.”

Bella’s stomach churned, but she nodded. “I’m coming with you.”

“No,” Kael said firmly, his eyes narrowing. “You’re staying here, where it’s safe.”

Bella stepped in front of him, her chin held high. “I’m not hiding while the pack fights for me. I can help.”

Kael hesitated, his protective instincts warring with his respect for her determination. Finally, he sighed. “Stay close to me. And if things get bad, you run. Do you understand?”

Bella nodded, her resolve unshaken. “I understand.”

The two of them joined the warriors at the edge of the forest. The scent of Nyxthorn was thick in the air, mingling with the tension that hung over the pack. Bella’s heart pounded as they approached the invaders, their glowing eyes visible through the trees.

“Hold the line!” Kael commanded, his voice steady and authoritative.

The Nyxthorn warriors emerged from the shadows, their numbers greater than Bella had expected. One of them stepped forward, his eyes locking onto Bella with a predatory gleam.

“So,” he said, his voice low and menacing, “the rogue is here. Shadowbound will be pleased.”

Kael growled, stepping protectively in front of Bella. “You’re not taking her.”

The warrior smirked. “You can’t stop us.”

With that, the battle erupted. Wolves clashed in a flurry of teeth and claws, their growls and snarls filling the air. Bella stayed close to Kael, her instincts urging her to fight despite her inexperience.

One of the Nyxthorn warriors lunged at her, and she barely dodged in time. Her heart raced as she lashed out, her strength surprising both her and her opponent.

As the fight raged on, Bella felt a strange sensation building inside her. Her vision sharpened, her hearing heightened, and her muscles burned with energy. It was the same feeling she’d experienced before, but stronger—more intense.

She stumbled back, her breathing ragged as her body began to tremble uncontrollably.

“Bella!” Kael shouted, his voice cutting through the chaos.

But she barely heard him. The energy inside her was overwhelming, surging through her veins like wildfire. Her skin prickled, and she felt an unfamiliar power taking hold.

The Nyxthorn warrior who had spoken earlier stared at her, his eyes widening in fear. “It’s true,” he whispered, his voice barely audible over the din. “She’s one of them.”
