The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 610

Ch. 600 / 790 May 05, 2026

Bella’s breath quickened as she stood before the locked chest in Kael’s quarters, her heart pounding in her ears. The faint glow from the chest beckoned her like a siren’s call, urging her to uncover the secrets hidden inside. With trembling fingers, she knelt in front of it, her mind racing with thoughts of what she might find. This was her only chance. If she could just open it—if she could just get to the truth—then maybe everything would finally make sense.

Her fingers traced the markings on the chest again, their familiarity sending a shiver down her spine. They were the same as the symbols on her medallion. She had to know what they meant, what connection they had to her. The medallion, her bloodline, the Crescenten—everything was tied together, but it was all just out of reach. Until now.

She fumbled for a moment with the lock, her mind focused solely on getting it open. Then, with a quiet click, the chest’s lock gave way. Bella opened the lid slowly, her hands trembling as she peered inside.

There, nestled inside a velvet lining, was an ancient parchment. Her breath caught in her throat as she pulled it out, her fingers brushing over the brittle paper. The ink was faded, but the words were still legible.

“The Wolf of Two Worlds shall rise, neither of the earth nor the sky, bound to both but belonging to neither. One will guide them, the other will fall. The prophecy shall be fulfilled, and the fate of the packs will be sealed.”

Bella stared at the words, her mind struggling to process their meaning. A Wolf of Two Worlds? The phrase resonated with her, but she couldn’t quite grasp why. Could it be referring to her? She had always felt like an outsider, like she didn’t truly belong to Crescent Howl, but this… This was something entirely different. Something much bigger.

Before she could contemplate it further, a voice suddenly rang out behind her, sharp and cold.

“Well, well, well. What do we have here?” Esmera’s voice dripped with venom.

Bella froze, her heart pounding in her chest as she turned to face the woman who had tormented her since the moment she’d arrived. Esmera stood in the doorway, her eyes narrowed with suspicion and rage. She had a blade in her hand, its edge gleaming in the dim light of the room.

Esmera’s lips curled into a cruel smile. “I knew you were a troublemaker, Bella. But this… This is crossing a line.”

Bella’s mind raced, her body tensing. She had to think fast. “I don’t know what you mean,” she said, her voice steady despite the fear clawing at her chest. “I was just—”

“Don’t lie to me,” Esmera interrupted, taking a step forward. “You’ve been poking around where you shouldn’t. This is none of your business.” She waved the blade in front of her, its gleam reflecting in her cold, dark eyes. “But I can make it my business, if you don’t stop.”

Bella stood her ground, refusing to back down. “This is my business now,” she retorted, her voice unwavering. “Whatever’s in here… It’s more than just about Crescent Howl. It’s about me. It’s about who I really am.”

Esmera laughed, a harsh sound that made Bella’s skin crawl. “You think you have any right to know the truth?” she sneered. “You’re nothing but a rogue. A servant. You always will be.”

Bella’s hands curled into fists, but she didn’t back away. “I won’t let you control me anymore.”

Esmera’s smile faltered for just a moment, replaced by a flash of fury. She stepped closer, the blade still in her hand, its sharp edge now dangerously close to Bella’s throat. “You should’ve stayed a servant,” Esmera hissed, her voice low and venomous. “But now, you’ve gone too far. If I have to, I’ll make sure you regret it.”

The air between them thickened with tension. Bella’s heart raced, but she didn’t flinch. She had come too far to let Esmera intimidate her now. The words of the prophecy echoed in her mind—Wolf of Two Worlds. She didn’t know what it meant, but she was beginning to understand that this wasn’t just about her survival. This was about something much bigger, something she had no control over.

But if she didn’t fight now, she might never have the chance to figure it out.

Esmera’s cold, menacing gaze never left Bella’s face as she raised the blade higher. “You’ll never understand what you’re up against,” she spat, “but you will. Soon enough.”

Bella stood her ground, refusing to let the fear consume her. She knew she couldn’t win a fight against Esmera, not with the blade in her hand. But she had something more powerful than fear—resolve.

“I’ll make you understand,” Bella whispered, more to herself than to Esmera. “I will.”

The air was thick with danger as Esmera took another step forward, the blade now just inches from Bella’s skin. But before either of them could make a move, the sound of footsteps echoed in the hallway, growing louder. The tension in the room snapped like a taut string, and Esmera quickly stepped back, her eyes darting toward the door.

“You got lucky this time,” Esmera muttered, her gaze darkening. “But don’t think this is over. It’s only just beginning.”

With one final glare, she turned on her heel and stalked out of the room, the sound of her footsteps fading into the distance.

Bella’s breath came in ragged gasps as she clutched the prophecy in her hands, her mind racing with the weight of what she had just uncovered. The blade had been a close call, but it wasn’t the worst of it. The prophecy—the Wolf of Two Worlds—was calling to her, pulling her into a world she hadn’t chosen, but one she could no longer ignore.

Esmera threatens Bella with a blade, hissing, “You should’ve stayed a servant.”
