The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 607

Ch. 597 / 790 May 05, 2026

The air was thick with tension as Kael and Bella made their way through the dense forest, their boots crunching softly on the underbrush. The night was eerily quiet, the only sound the occasional call of a distant owl or rustle of leaves in the wind. Bella felt a sense of unease creeping up her spine, the weight of the darkness pressing in on her.

She glanced at Kael, walking ahead of her, his tall frame steady and confident. He seemed unbothered by the quiet, his posture relaxed, though Bella could sense the alertness in his every movement. His wolf was close to the surface, and she could almost feel the power radiating off him.

“You ready for this?” Kael’s voice broke the silence, turning slightly to look at her.

Bella nodded, though her heart was pounding. She had no idea what to expect on this patrol, but Kael had insisted that she come along. “Yeah,” she replied, though the unease in her chest wasn’t going away. “But why do we need to patrol tonight? Is something wrong?”

Kael’s gaze shifted back to the path ahead. “We’ve had reports of Nyxthorn activity near our borders. We need to keep an eye on things.” His voice was firm, but there was a note of something else in it—something Bella couldn’t quite place.

As they moved deeper into the forest, the air seemed to grow colder, and the feeling of being watched intensified. Bella instinctively tightened her grip on the hilt of the dagger at her side. She had never been on a mission like this, and the thought of facing Nyxthorn warriors made her stomach churn.

Suddenly, Kael stopped in his tracks, his body going rigid. Bella barely had time to react before he motioned for her to stay low, his finger pressed to his lips in a silent command.

Bella crouched down beside him, her heart racing. Kael’s eyes scanned the darkness ahead, narrowing as he caught sight of movement in the distance. There were figures—dark shapes moving through the trees, too well-coordinated to be mere animals.

“Nyxthorn,” Kael muttered, his voice low and deadly.

Bella’s breath caught in her throat as she realized who they were facing. Nyxthorn. The rival pack. The same pack that had been sending spies and threats to Crescent Howl.

“Stay close,” Kael whispered, pulling his dagger from its sheath. “And be ready.”

They moved silently through the trees, their steps barely making a sound. Bella felt the tension rising as they approached the Nyxthorn warriors, their figures now fully visible in the moonlight. There were four of them, their dark clothing blending with the shadows of the forest.

“Well, well,” one of the Nyxthorn warriors sneered, his eyes glinting in the dim light. “Look who we have here.” His gaze flickered over Kael before settling on Bella, a smirk forming on his lips. “The rogue.”

Kael stepped forward, his stance defensive. “Leave her out of this. You’re here for me, not her.”

The warrior’s smirk grew wider, but there was something dangerous in it now. “Oh, we’re not just here for you, Kael. We’re here for her.”

Bella’s heart skipped a beat, and she could feel her pulse quicken. “Me?” she echoed, her voice barely a whisper.

The warrior’s eyes glinted with something dark. “Yes, Bella. We’ve been waiting for this moment.”

Kael’s eyes blazed with fury, and he took a step toward the warrior, his voice low but filled with warning. “You don’t get to take her. Not while I’m here.”

The Nyxthorn warrior chuckled darkly, then nodded to the others. “If you say so, but this is bigger than you, Kael. It’s bigger than all of Crescent Howl.”

Before Kael could respond, the air shifted—everything seemed to happen in an instant. The Nyxthorn warriors sprang into action, their weapons drawn. Kael was already in motion, his wolf taking over as he leapt forward to meet them. Bella barely had time to react before one of the warriors rushed at her.

Instinct took over as Bella dodged the strike, her dagger flashing in the moonlight. She managed to land a hit, but the warrior was fast, his strength far greater than she had expected. He slammed her into a tree, knocking the air from her lungs.

“You’re a rogue, nothing but a mistake,” he growled, his hand gripping her throat.

Bella struggled, gasping for air, her vision blurring. She could feel the pressure building, her body growing weaker. But she couldn’t let him win. Not now.

Kael’s growl filled the air as he knocked another warrior to the ground. He was a force of nature, each movement calculated and brutal. Bella watched as he fought with all his might, his strength and skill undeniable. But there was no time to admire him—she had to get out of this.

The warrior tightened his grip, and Bella’s vision was beginning to fade. But then, something inside her snapped. She felt it—raw power, like a flame igniting within her. Without thinking, she summoned every ounce of strength she had left, using her wolf’s power to push the warrior away.

He flew backward, crashing into a tree with a sickening thud. Bella gasped, staring at her hands in disbelief. The power had come from nowhere, but it was there, coursing through her veins.

Kael’s voice rang out in the chaos. “Bella, now!”

Bella’s heart raced as she turned to see Kael struggling with the last warrior. She didn’t hesitate. She sprinted toward him, her legs carrying her faster than she thought possible. The warrior saw her coming and raised his weapon, but Bella was quicker. With a swipe of her dagger, she disarmed him and sent him sprawling to the ground.

The battle was over in an instant. Kael stood over the defeated warriors, his chest heaving with exertion. He turned to Bella, his expression a mix of pride and concern.

But just as they thought the battle was finished, one of the Nyxthorn warriors—bloodied and bruised but still alive—managed to sit up. His eyes locked onto Bella, a sinister smirk crossing his face.

“Shadowbound will be pleased to meet you at last,” he hissed.

Bella froze, her breath catching in her throat. Shadowbound? The name echoed in her mind, a warning, but she didn’t know why.

One of the Nyxthorn warriors calls Bella by name, saying, “Shadowbound will be pleased to meet you at last.”
