The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 594

Ch. 584 / 790 May 05, 2026

The forest was eerily silent, with only the rustle of leaves in the cold breeze breaking the stillness. Bella moved cautiously, her steps slow and deliberate. Her body still ached from the strange tremors she’d felt the night before. Though the pain had subsided, an odd sensation lingered in her chest—a deep, unsettling pull she couldn’t explain.

She glanced around, her senses sharper than usual. The forest had always been her refuge, a place where she could escape the cruelty of the pack. But today, it felt different. The shadows seemed darker, the air heavier.

A twig snapped behind her, and Bella froze.

“Who’s there?” she called, her voice trembling slightly.

For a moment, there was no response. Then, a figure stepped out from the shadows.

He was tall, with sharp features and piercing silver eyes that glinted in the dim light. His dark hair was wild, and his clothes were ragged, as if he’d been living on the run for years. But what stood out most was the aura of danger that surrounded him.

“Bella Laurent,” the man said, his voice low and smooth.

Bella took a cautious step back, her heart racing. “How do you know my name?”

The man smirked, tilting his head slightly. “I know more about you than you think.”

She swallowed hard, trying to steady her breathing. “Who are you?”

“Zeryth,” he said simply, taking a step closer.

Bella’s instincts screamed at her to run, but her legs wouldn’t move. There was something about him—something that felt both threatening and familiar.

“What do you want?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

“To warn you,” Zeryth replied, his expression growing serious. “You need to leave this place. Now, before it’s too late.”

Bella frowned, confusion mixing with fear. “Why? What’s going on?”

Zeryth’s eyes softened, but only slightly. “Your shift is coming. When it does, you’ll be vulnerable. They’ll come for you.”

“They?” Bella asked, her pulse quickening. “Who’s ‘they’? The pack?”

“No,” Zeryth said, his tone sharp. “The pack isn’t your biggest threat. They don’t even know what you are.”

“What I am?” Bella repeated, her voice rising. “What are you talking about?”

Zeryth sighed, running a hand through his messy hair. “You don’t know, do you? Of course, you don’t. They’ve kept you in the dark.”

“Know what?” Bella demanded, frustration bubbling in her chest. “If you’re going to warn me, at least tell me the truth!”

Zeryth hesitated, his silver eyes scanning her face. “Your heritage, Bella. The reason you don’t belong here. The reason you’ve always been different.”

Her breath caught in her throat. “What do you mean? My parents—”

“Your parents aren’t who you think they are,” Zeryth interrupted, his voice cold. “And neither are you.”

Bella’s mind spun, his words striking a nerve she didn’t even know existed. She thought back to the whispers she’d overheard from the elders, the cruel remarks from the pack, the hateful words painted on her walls.

Rogue.

You don’t belong here.

“What are you saying?” she asked, her voice trembling. “That I’m not… a wolf?”

“You’re not one of them,” Zeryth said, his voice soft but firm. “You never were.”

Bella took another step back, shaking her head. “You’re lying. I’m part of this pack. I’ve been here since I was a child—”

“And yet, they hate you,” Zeryth cut in, his silver eyes boring into hers. “They fear you. They know there’s something about you that doesn’t fit. They just don’t know what it is.”

Bella clenched her fists, anger and confusion swirling inside her. “If you know so much, then tell me! What am I?”

Zeryth hesitated, his expression unreadable. For a moment, Bella thought he might actually answer. But then he shook his head.

“Not yet,” he said quietly. “You’re not ready to hear it.”

Bella’s frustration boiled over. “Why are you even here if you won’t tell me the truth? Why warn me at all?”

“Because I owe it to you,” Zeryth said, his voice softening. “You may not understand now, but you will. Soon.”

Before Bella could respond, Zeryth stepped back into the shadows. His movements were so fluid, so silent, that it was almost as if he was part of the darkness itself.

“Wait!” Bella called, taking a step forward. “Don’t go! Tell me what’s happening!”

Zeryth paused, his silver eyes glowing faintly in the dim light. “Leave this place, Bella. Before your shift. It’s the only way to protect yourself.”

Then, he vanished into the shadows, his voice lingering like a ghost.

“You’re not one of them.”

Bella stood frozen, her mind racing. The forest was silent again, but her thoughts were anything but.

Her hands trembled as she replayed Zeryth’s words in her head. You’re not one of them.

What did he mean? What wasn’t she ready to hear? And why did his warning feel so urgent, so real?
