The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 592

Ch. 582 / 790 May 05, 2026

Bella trudged through the woods, her legs heavy and her heart even heavier. The crisp night air nipped at her skin, but the cold couldn’t numb the sting of Esmera’s words.

Her den wasn’t far now—a small, secluded space at the edge of the pack’s territory. It wasn’t much, just a tiny cabin she’d been given when she joined the pack, but it was her only sanctuary. As she approached, her chest tightened. Something felt… off.

The faint smell of paint hit her first. Then she saw it.

Her stomach dropped as her gaze landed on the crude, red letters smeared across the wooden door: Rogue.

Her hands trembled as she pushed the door open, stepping inside. The damage was worse than she’d imagined. Her few belongings had been tossed around, her mattress slashed, and the walls were covered in more hateful messages.

“Stay away.”

“You don’t belong here.”

“Run before it’s too late.”

Bella stood frozen, the weight of the words crushing her. She wanted to scream, to cry, but nothing came out. Her den had been her only safe place, and now it was a reminder that she wasn’t welcome here.

She reached out to touch the nearest message, her fingers brushing over the dried paint. The word rogue stared back at her, bold and cruel. Her mind raced, trying to figure out who could’ve done this.

Was it Esmera? Her lackeys? Or the entire Crescent Howl pack?

A lump formed in her throat as her eyes scanned the destruction. Her sketchbook, the one thing she cherished, lay torn on the floor, its pages ripped and crumpled. She crouched down, picking up a fragment. On it was a half-finished drawing of a wolf standing proudly on a cliff, howling at the moon.

The sight of it broke her. A tear slid down her cheek, quickly followed by another.

The sound of voices broke through her thoughts. Bella stiffened, quickly stepping into the shadows near the window. Two figures were walking past her den, their low conversation carrying through the night.

“Alpha should’ve never let her stay,” one of them grumbled. It was Elder Marcus, his gray hair glinting under the moonlight.

“She’s been nothing but trouble,” agreed the other voice. Elder Ruth, her hunched frame silhouetted against the trees.

Bella held her breath, her heart pounding.

“You know what they say about her origins,” Ruth continued, her voice dropping to a whisper.

Marcus snorted. “Rumors. That’s all they are.”

“Are they?” Ruth challenged, stopping in her tracks. “Think about it, Marcus. No family, no known pack. And yet, she’s here, right before her first shift. It’s too convenient.”

Marcus hesitated, his expression darkening.

“And what if it’s true?” Ruth pressed. “What if she’s one of them?”

Bella’s brow furrowed. Them?

Marcus sighed heavily. “If she shifts… we’re all doomed.”

The words hit Bella like a blow to the chest. She felt her knees weaken, but she bit down hard on her lip to keep herself steady.

“Then what do we do?” Ruth asked, her voice tense.

“We wait. And if she shows any sign of being a threat…” Marcus trailed off, but the meaning was clear.

Bella’s blood ran cold.

The elders moved on, their voices fading into the distance. Bella leaned against the wall, her breaths shallow and uneven.

If she shifts, we’re all doomed.

The words replayed in her mind, mixing with Esmera’s chilling promise: When you shift, I’ll make sure it’s your last.

Bella sank to the floor, her fingers curling into fists. What was it about her shift that scared them so much? What did they know about her that she didn’t?

She looked around her vandalized den, the hateful messages glaring back at her. It wasn’t just Esmera. The whole pack saw her as a threat.

But why?

Bella swallowed hard, the tears finally spilling over. She had spent years trying to fit in, trying to prove she wasn’t the outcast they thought she was. But tonight, it felt like she was fighting a losing battle.

The whispers about her origins, the threats, the isolation—it all pointed to one thing.

She wasn’t just unwanted. She was feared.

For the first time, Bella felt a flicker of anger rising through the despair. They didn’t even know her, yet they hated her for reasons she couldn’t understand.

No more, she thought, wiping her tears away. If they thought she was dangerous, then she’d give them a reason to respect her.

Bella stood, her legs unsteady but her resolve firm. She wouldn’t run, no matter how much they wanted her to. She would find out the truth about herself—why she was different, why her shift mattered—and she would prove them all wrong.

Her gaze fell to the hateful messages on the walls one last time. Then, with a determined breath, she grabbed a rag and began to wipe the paint away.

The night deepened, and though her hands ached from scrubbing, Bella didn’t stop. She worked until the hateful words were gone, leaving the walls clean but scarred with faint stains—a reminder of the cruelty she’d endured.

As she finally slumped onto the torn mattress, exhaustion pulling at her, Bella whispered into the silence, “I’ll prove them wrong. One day, they’ll see.”
