The Billionaire's Lost Lover

Chapter 13

Ch. 13 / 66 Apr 18, 2026

Why was Callie acting so stubbornly? Jayden was right, she should back off and let someone else handle the project.

If that day's incident was a warning, then there is something fishy. He wanted to check on their family history because he had heard Jayden say that his mom died because of the project.

Hudson got up not wanting to leave Callie but he had to get to the bottom of the matter. "Jayden, I will take your leave as someone has to be at the sight to inspect the work. Callie, please take care of yourself and don't come to the site till you are absolutely fine. Alright, now take some rest." Hudson said with concern and Callie looked at him with many emotions visible on her face.

Author's POV

Jayden escorted him to the door.

Callie got up and went to her room and closed the door, instructing Scarlett not to bother her for some time.

When Jayden returned he found Scarlett all alone and Callie was nowhere. Scarlett informed him what Callie had said and continued with her work. But truthfully she was really worried about Callie.

She couldn't speak since her childhood and had endured a lot of hardship and bullying but she never gave up and made a name for herself as an architect just to fulfil her mother's dream. But she met with an accident. She was getting restless and called her friend Daniel for help, as she noticed that Jayden had gone out.

Callie's POV

I closed the door and opened my suitcase where I had kept my diary and after taking it out I went and sat down on the bed. I was shocked at what had happened today but when I looked at the picture hidden inside my diary, tears came flowing down. It was our family picture which was taken when I was four, mom, Dad, and Jayden were smiling so happily and I was laughing gleefully. I was very young when I lost them but when my grandmother gave me this dairy a long time back before I even dreamt of becoming an architect, I had gone through her dairy and came to know that her dream project was to build up a charitable hospital and old age home for the needy.

My great-grandfather had been a rich aristocrat in Seattle's business circle. Though my grandfather had a base in Seattle, he had moved to different continents and expanded his business, so now we are based in Budapest, my mother was the only daughter of my grandparents and after her death, my grandmother took us away with her to Budapest. It was a horrific incident that changed our lives and with Grandma's love and care, we were able to come out of our grief. But when I completed my last semester as the architect, Grandma had a heart attack and left me and Jayden alone in this world. So, Jayden is my only family. But Hudson ...... I shook my head; he was like a drug that I couldn't have enough of. I had tried to stay away from him after I left Sweden.

But today as he held me in his protective embrace, I longed for him. I do not know what life holds but I have taken my decision to complete the project no matter what happens, as my mother's dream was not for some selfish purpose but for the general public who were very dear to my mother. I got up and took out my laptop and started working on the project again to check if there was any loophole.

After an hour or so I looked at the watch and realized that it was quite late but I got what I wanted and made up my mind to check on it. And closing my laptop I laid down on the bed and my thoughts wandered again towards Hudson.

I looked at the phone and was tempted to call him but controlled myself.

**************

Hudson had returned to his office and because he had meetings lined up, he got over with it before settling down in his cabin. He was engrossed in his musings and thinking about what had happened in the afternoon. He knew that the project would have given a big revenue to anyone and so there were a lot of people who could sabotage it and they would go to any extreme to threaten the party involved in it.

And especially the project land was being eyed by a lot of people and it stretched to acres. But why did they try to hurt Callie as she was already so weak and poor thing she couldn't even defend herself?

Thinking of Callie , Hudson wanted to protect her as she was his woman and he wouldn't allow anyone to harm him.

Just then his cell phone started vibrating and when he checked the caller he couldn't ignore it, as his aunt was calling up, she was the only family left from her mother's side.

She was a very famous criminal lawyer and was married to Jackson Harris , who was the ex-mayor of Seattle and was a very famous man. It is said that he was once a CIA agent but gave up his job because he met his wife.

They do not have any children and have been happily married for the past seventeen years. Though Hudson did not like him at all. "Hello Aunt Steff, how are you?" Hudson said lovingly as he picked up the call. "Well my darling nephew, I am not good! "She exclaimed rather unhappily and Hudson smiled. "Why what happened? Are you all right." Hudson asked with concern.

"Do I seriously need to fall sick for you to come to visit me, seriously Hudson I am really disappointed. Just get your ass up here for dinner, as I am not listening to any excuses." She interrupted before Hudson could object.

Hudson smiled and promised her that he would go for dinner and cut the call, as His aunt can be really chatty. She had chosen the right profession, as she loves to talk. After hanging up the call he called his manager Liam Davis to come to his cabin.

Liam entered his cabin after a few seconds with a file and handed it over to Hudson. "I hope you did not miss anything this time?" Hudson asked with a serious expression. He had given him the job to search for Callie, alias Ivy and he had failed. Not that he was not capable but when Hudson came to know about Callie's background he knew, why he couldn't find her.

"Mr. Ford, the report is very accurate, this time I haven't missed anything," Liam assured him positively.

"Come along with me to Aunt Steff's place she has invited me to dinner and I don't want to go alone and besides she likes feeding you," Hudson said wickedly. " I will read the report on the way."

Hudson knew his aunt was a great cook but whenever he took Liam with him, she would feed him like a small child Hudson found it very funny but Liam had lost both his parents in a car accident and lived alone. He joined him when the company was just a baby and had become his right-hand man. And often visited his aunt with him.

They rushed towards the car when they reached the parking and got inside the front seat, as Liam would be driving.

As soon as the car started Hudson opened the file and started reading the report and his eyes became very sharp.
