I scribbled and showed it to her. "I wanted to be sure first and did not want to worry Jayden unnecessarily. And besides Hudson is helping me with everything and if I told Jayden that I was suspicious of Hudson's father, And Jayden you know how he would react right ! And they are exceptionally good friends, so I did not want any misunderstanding in between them."
"Callie, what about his father?" What do you think now?
"Well, he might have given me the warning because he was concerned about Hudson's security but I know that there is much more to it so I will have to visit him again. The last few days have been turbulent for him so I won't disturb him right now."
"Okay, but promise me you will tell me whatever you do and be careful," Scarlett said lovingly.
I nodded my head and held her hand.
Just then my phone started ringing and then a message popped up, I smiled and looked at the message but the next instant I felt a jolt hit me and looking at my expression Scarlett knew something was up.
"What is it Callie? What's wrong?" Scarlett whispered and snatched my phone.
And as she read the message, even she was shocked.
"Callie, Jayden has been admitted to the central hospital. Come here as soon as possible."
She was still for some time then called Hudson back.
After listening to him for some time, she ended the call and held my hand.
"Callie we need to go to the hospital, hurry up." Scarlett pulled me up and dragged me out of the mansion.
********************
I was sitting beside Hudson as he held me in my arms. Scarlett was inside the ICU checking on Jayden. I had already seen him, they had removed the bullet from his arm but because of loss of blood he was still unconscious but the good part was he was out of danger.
I was relieved and snuggled deeply in Hudson's arms.
After a while, Scarlett came out looking like hell. I knew how much she loved my brother. Though she never accepted it, it was always there. And today she looked so broke, . I got up and made her sit on the chair and held her tightly.
While Hudson excused himself to go to the cafeteria to get some coffee for us. Liam followed behind him.
I spoke very softly so that no one could hear. "Scar, Jayden is out of danger now, so don't worry everything is going to be fine. And you better tell him how you feel about him or you will never get that chance,"
Scarlett was crying but in between hiccups she managed to say. "How did you know?"
I smiled a little and whispered. "Well you wear your emotions on your face and it's visible Scar and I will be more than happy if you become my sister in-Law."
Scarlett did not say anything more but clung to me.
Hudson's POV
Hudson carried two cups of coffee for Callie and Scarlett and returned to the ICU corridor, where they were seated. He put the cups down on the table and stared at Callie. The bright lights on the ceiling poured at a graceful angle, falling upon her face and he could see the sparkle of her eyes as stared at him, while she hugged Scarlett. The sensual margins of her lips were looking voluptuous and kissable. Her hair was very messy. The little makeup she wore had long since lost its life, staining her eyelids and cheeks as she had cried continuously and she looked so exhausted. She was going through so much that he wanted to kidnap her and take her somewhere where no one could touch her.
He cleared his throat and said jokingly.
"You two better drink the amazing coffee I carried from the canteen or my exercise would be a waste ladies."
I and Scarlett smiled and immediately picked up our coffee cups.
It was such a relief, as my throat had gone dry and I might have been dehydrated.
Scarlett looked at Hudson and asked. " How did it happen? Who would want to kill Jayden?"
Hudson was quiet for a second as he knew he had to tell them he sat down and said casually.
"The same person who tried to kill Callie, I guess."
We were both looking at Hudson anxiously to explain what had happened and he was being mysterious. I wrote on the pad and showed it to him.
"Hudson, you better tell us what happened? And how did you bring Jay to the hospital?"
Hudson read it and quietly sat beside me and took my hand in his and held it warmly.
" I was on my way back to the office, as I had to sign a few important papers, so after dropping you home I suddenly realised that Kay, Who is Jayden and my friend had called me in the morning telling me that he would come to Seattle in the weekend, so I thought of talking to Jayden about what we should plan for him. The call got through and he picked it up and just when he said hello, I heard him shriek painfully. I was shouting and asking him what was the matter but he did not reply then the noises became loud, so I drove at a high speed and reached your company and rushed towards his office.
"But when I reached there I saw two masked men trying to shoot Jayden who was dodging and running around the office to save himself. You know I carry a gun with me Callie so it was easy for me to shoot one of them but the other guy got alert and he escaped. Thankfully I reached there on time so there was less damage but because the shooter had shot him straight into his arm, he lost a lot of blood and fainted, so I carried him to the hospital."
"The police are investigating the matter and the other guy whom I had shot on his leg has been taken to the remand hospital. He is fine now and is being investigated. Callie this is getting dangerous and even if we have pulled away from the project the killer is still on the loose so we need to be careful."
Then he paused a moment and looked at Scarlett and asked. "Scarlett, did anything happen in the company today?"
Scarlett shook her head and spoke. "Not that I remember anything specific but today Jayden and I found that there were many glitches in the company's growth record for the past twelve years and it was tampered by someone and we had decided to investigate in secretly, as we did not want to questions Uncle Scott's devotion. He is the backbone of the company and now that you have asked I am sure there is some mystery to it."
I took my pad and wrote on it after listening to what they had to say.
"I think it's better we don't discuss it here, we will talk on our way back home."
