"Yes, we didn't take anything." Stacey added.
"Then why the alarm? You guys took something from the store."
"Why are you embarrassing us? We are too big for this. Stop accusing us of stealing." Anabel said.
"Then let me check your bags. I need to confirm." The salesgirl said.
"Check our bag? So you are doubting us? We didn't take anything." Anabel said.
"Then why did the anti-theft device activate? Save my time and let me check your bags." The salesgirl insisted.
"Okay, you can check and confirm there is nothing there." The salesgirl nodded and reached for Anabel's bag first. She searched through it, picking her things out. Anabel's and Stacey's eyes widened when she pulled out a pair of expensive earrings made of diamond.
"You said you didn't take anything. What do you have to say about this?" The salesgirl asked.
"This is impossible!" Anabel exclaimed, confused.
"These earrings are from our store." The salesgirl said, holding them up for everyone to see. "You stole them."
"I didn't steal anything! I have no idea how it got into my bag." Anabel defended.
"This is ridiculous. Anabel can never steal anything." Stacey tried to defend Anabel. "There must be some mistake."
The salesgirl shook her head. "The alarm doesn't lie. And these earrings are definitely from our store."
Anabel began to panic. She didn't take any earrings, but how could she prove it? "Please, you have to believe me. I didn't take them. Someone must have snuck it into my bag or something."
The salesgirl crossed her arms, clearly unconvinced. "I'm going to call security."
Just then, Daniella reappeared with a smug smile on her face. She has finished shopping and checking out. "What's going on here?" She asked.
The salesgirl turned to Daniella to explain what happened. "I found these earrings in her bag," she stated, pointing to Anabel. "She claimed she didn't steal them, but I got them from her bag."
Daniella's eyes gleamed with a malicious delight. "Well, well, well. It looks like Anabel isn't as innocent as she pretends to be. Stealing from a boutique? Has it gotten to stealing what you couldn't afford?"
"Daniella, you are not invited here." Stacey glared at Daniella in anger. "Anabel didn't steal anything."
Daniella raised an eyebrow with a broad smile. "Oh, really? Then how do you explain the earrings in her bag? Face it, Stacey. Your friend is a thief. She couldn't buy anything and chose to steal."
Anabel began to feel frustrated and humiliated. She had no idea how the earrings ended up in her bag. "I didn't take them," she repeated with a trembling voice."
Daniella stepped closer. "You are a pathetic liar, Anabel. Every day for a thief, one day for the owner. Maybe this time, you will finally get what you deserve."
Stacey got angrier and stepped between Anabel and Daniella. "Back off, Daniella. Anabel is not a thief, and you know it. You are just trying to make her look bad because you are jealous."
"Jealous? Of her?" Daniella laughed with a mocking voice. "Please. I'm just stating the fact. Anabel is a liar and a thief, and now everyone can see it."
While Stacey and Daniella were bantering, the salesgirl stepped back to call security.
Anabel and Stacey stood their ground to prove Anabel's innocence, even as Daniella continued to banter with them.
When the security guards arrived, Daniella laughed and sauntered out of the boutique with reckless abandon, leaving Anabel and Stacey to face the consequences of her malicious action.
