The dinner date 2

Ch. 72 / 286 Apr 29, 2026

Sylvester arrived at Anabel's company and asked her to join him in his car. She hesitated for some moments before she got in. On their way to the restaurant, they chatted about work and the latest developments in the company.

The restaurant was a cozy, upscale place with dim lighting and a romantic ambiance. Sylvester had reserved a private table by the window, offering a stunning view of the city skyline.

When they settled into their seats, a waiter approached to take their orders. Once their meals were ordered, Sylvester leaned forward with his eyes fixed on Anabel. "I'm really happy you agreed to come out tonight. I know you've been under a lot of stress lately."

Anabel smiled, but there was a hint of sadness in her eyes. "Thank you, Sylvester. I appreciate it. It's been a tough few days."

Sylvester reached across the table, gently taking her hand in his. "It's normal, everything comes with challenges. If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here for you. You don't have to go through this alone."

Anabel hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath. "It's alright. You have been of help to me. You saved my company. I still own you that. I will repay you in another way."

"No, you don't have to. What are we friends for. I'm meant to help you in a way I can. I'm not looking forward for you to repay me. I just need you in my life. I'm in love with you."

"Are you sure?" Anabel asked.

"Is there any way I can proof it to you? Mention it. Anything. I'm incomplete without you. Just give me a chance."

"I see you are serious." Anabel smiled.

"Yeah, Give me a chance to proof how I love you. Please."

"Okay, but there's something you need to know about me."

"What is that?" He asked. "You can tell me anything."

She looked down at their joined hands, her voice trembling slightly. "I'm pregnant. And I'm a divorced lady. My ex-husband and I separated a few months ago, and it's been really hard. Managing the company, dealing with the pregnancy, and trying to move on... it's been overwhelming."

Sylvester's eyes widened in feigned surprise as if he was not aware. "Anabel, I had no idea. I'm so sorry you've been going through all this. But I want you to know that it doesn't change how I feel about you."

Anabel looked up, "What do you mean?"

Sylvester took a deep breath and voiced out. "Anabel, from the moment I met you, I was drawn to your strength, your intelligence, and your kindness. I admire you more than you know. And the more I got to know you, the more I realized that I have feelings for you. Deep feelings. The kind i can't terminate."

Anabel's eyes widened in surprise. "Sylvester, I... I don't know what to say."

"You don't have to say anything right now," Sylvester continued. "I just wanted you to know how I feel. I care about you, Anabel. And I don't mind that you are pregnant or divorced. In fact, I admire you even more for handling everything with such strength."

Tears welled up in Anabel's eyes, and she quickly wiped them away. "Sylvester, I never expected this. I've been so focused on my problems that I didn't even realize..."

Sylvester squeezed her hand gently. "You don't have to go through this alone, Anabel. I'm here for you, and I want to support you in any way I can. Whether it's as a friend or something more, I'm here. Though I want us to be more than friends."

"Thank you, Sylvester. Your words mean more to me than you know. I... I need some time to process all of this. But I appreciate your honesty and your support."

Sylvester nodded "Take all the time you need, Anabel. I'll be here, no matter what."

Their conversation shifted to lighter topics as they enjoyed their meal, but the atmosphere between them had changed. There was a new sense of closeness. When they finished, Sylvester brought out his debit card and settled the bill.

As they were leaving the restaurant, they felt the cool and refreshing gentle breeze rustling over them. Sylvester walked Anabel to his car and opened the door for her as a gentle man. Anabel smiled and got in. Sylvester closed the door and rushed to the driver's seat in excitement.

"I hope you enjoyed yourself tonight, Anabel." He asked when he got in. Anabel smiled back. "I did, Sylvester. Thank you for everything. It was nice to be with you."

"I'm happy you are satisfied." Sylvester said and drove off. They drove in comfortable silence, the city lights casting a soft glow inside the car.

When they pulled up to Anabel's mansion, Sylvester turned off the engine and turned to her. "I'm very glad we did this."

"Thank you, Sylvester." Anabel replied. "You have been so kind to me. I appreciate it more than you know."

Sylvester took a deep breath and decided to take a bold step. He leaned in slightly, his eyes locked on hers. "Anabel, I care about you a lot. I want you to know that."

Anabel's eyes widened slightly, and she seemed to hold her breath. Sylvester took this as a sign to move closer, his face inching towards hers. Just as he was about to close the distance, Anabel gently placed her hand on his chest, stopping him.

"Sylvester, wait," she tried to stop him. "I... I'm not ready for this. It's too soon."

Sylvester pulled back in disappointment. "I'm sorry, Anabel. I didn't mean to rush things. I just wanted to show you how much I care."

Anabel sighed, her hand still resting on his chest. "I know, and I appreciate it. But I've been through a lot, and I need time to sort through my feelings. I hope you understand."

Sylvester nodded. "Of course, Anabel. I understand completely. Take all the time you need. I'll be here for you, no matter what."

"Thank you, Sylvester." Anabel smiled. "You are a good friend. I will be leaving now. Goodnight."

"Goodnight, Anabel," He replied, watching as she got out of the car and walked to the entrance gate.

Sylvester drove off and made a call. "Can you come over?"
