My Mate Has Two Wolves

Chapter 429

Ch. 429 / 530 May 01, 2026

Mirabel had harbored secret feelings for Leo for a long time. Despite never getting close to him, she never gave up hope.

She believed that as long as she stayed in the company, she would eventually get the chance to work with Leo and enact the passionate romance in real life that she could not achieve.

But Leo's words shattered her hopes completely.

Mirabel was consumed with anger and hatred, wishing she could see Sunny suffer a thousand deaths.

She spent a large amount of money to hire someone to ruin Sunny after Leo and Sunny broke up—either by ruining her innocence or disfiguring her.

Unfortunately, both attempts failed.

Now, Mirabel felt guilty and uneasy whenever she saw Sunny and Leo together.

But her burning resentment almost drove her to lose her sanity.

Sunny felt a chill and turned to see Mirabel and some other female stars chatting at the lounge bar.

She frowned, wondering if it was just a trick of the mind. Why did her back suddenly feel cold?

"Want to go over there?" Leo noticed her staring at the bar.

The female stars there waved at Leo, putting on sweet smiles.

Sunny shook her head. "No, I don't get along with them."

"Do you think someone in the company is jealous of you being my girlfriend and is trying to harm you?" Leo asked casually.

Sunny's heart sank as she looked back at the bar. "It's possible. I'm quite unpopular now."

"Want to verify it yourself?" Leo encouraged her to investigate.

"How?" Sunny blinked.

"Go chat with them and observe their reactions. You might find some clues," Leo said, knowing Sunny didn't like to mingle but trusting her courage.

Determined to uncover the mastermind behind the kidnapping, Sunny approached the bar.

The group of female stars, who had been discussing her, looked awkward as she approached. Mirabel's face was especially gloomy.

Sunny ordered a fruit wine and sat down among them, scanning the surroundings.

"Sunny, have a drink with us?" One female star, envious but not hateful, seeing her reunion with Leo and speculating she might become the boss's wife, deliberately tried to befriend her.

"Sure," Sunny smiled and sat down.

Mirabel, seeing the attention shift to Sunny, was consumed with jealousy. The female stars who had been fawning over her moments ago now turned to Sunny, making her feel betrayed.

Sunny, with her experience as a reporter, was skilled at reading people's emotions.

She scanned the crowd and noticed that while others might not like her, they harbored no real ill will—except for Mirabel, whose eyes blazed with undisguised hatred.

"Oops!" One of them deliberately bumped into Sunny's left hand and exclaimed dramatically.

Everyone looked at her injury, and some asked with concern, "Sunny, isn't your injury healed yet? It's been so long."

Sunny shook her head. "It wasn't handled properly at first, got infected, and hasn't recovered."

Mirabel's eyes gleamed with satisfaction, thinking it would be best if this arm were useless.

Sunny had been watching Mirabel closely and caught the smug look on her face as she raised her glass.

Her heart skipped a beat. Could her injury actually make Mirabel this happy?

"That couple of thugs were too cruel to such a pretty girl. They should stay in jail longer!" a female star feigned indignation.

Sunny remained calm. "Those two have been caught and confessed to being instigated by someone. The police will interrogate them, and I believe the punishment for intentional injury won't be light."

At the mention of this, Mirabel's hand trembled, and the glass slipped from her grasp and shattered.

Everyone was stunned and looked at her.

Mirabel forced herself to stay calm. "I slipped my hand. Sorry to spoil the mood."

Sunny was now certain. Her deliberate probe had triggered such a strong reaction from Mirabel.

Considering their previous conflicts and script competition, Sunny concluded that Mirabel was likely the mastermind behind the kidnapping.

Sunny glared coldly at Mirabel, who, feeling guilty, found an excuse to leave hastily.

Watching Mirabel's retreating figure, Sunny's eyes flashed with determination.

Having finally found a lead, she was not about to let it slip away. She immediately followed Mirabel.

Mirabel quickly entered the elevator, and just as the doors were about to close, Sunny's voice rang out, "Wait!"

Mirabel's heart raced as she looked up nervously to meet Sunny's smiling eyes.

"Mirabel, I heard you approached Leo privately when I wasn't in the company, trying to take my script. Is that true?" Sunny deliberately brought up the topic Mirabel dreaded most, observing her reaction.

Mirabel's face paled instantly. Her meticulously made-up face turned deathly white. She pressed her lips tightly together and remained silent.

After the elevator doors opened, she hurried towards her own dressing room.

Sunny persisted, "Your silence implies admission. You always thought so highly of yourself. I didn't expect you to do such despicable things."

Mirabel, with a fiery temper, had long resented Sunny for monopolizing resources and winning Leo's favor. Now, provoked by Sunny, she glared at her and snapped, "Don't accuse me falsely! That script was supposed to be mine. You stole it. Now you're calling me cunning. Who's more vicious is yet to be seen!"

"Oh? So you resent me for stealing your script and hired someone to harm me? That makes sense," Sunny sneered.

Mirabel's face paled again. "Don't make things up! I just dislike you. I didn't try to hurt you."

"Okay. I believe you're not a cruel person. I've watched your dramas. Your acting is good, and you're very touching as a good person. Maybe I was just being paranoid. Don't take it to heart," Sunny feigned guilt.

Confused, Mirabel could only coldly hum.

Sunny continued to pressure her, "Anyway, the police have already caught those two people, and they've confessed to being instigated by someone. I'll just wait for the news."
