Catherine was content with Blake's indifferent expression.
"I'll take a photo and send it to the kids," Catherine said, snapping several shots of Blake without his consent.
Blake's deep gaze shifted to her, his indifference softening.
"Come here!"
Catherine's eyes widened in surprise, but she obediently sat beside him.
"Let's take one together." Blake grabbed her phone, lifted it, and pulled her into his arms before she could pose.
Before Catherine could react, Blake took several photos.
"Hey..." Catherine was confused about his intentions.
Blake swiftly sent the photos to Abigail.
Catherine's eyes widened in anger. She immediately asked, "Did you make me look ugly in those photos?"
Blake shrugged and said, "You're always beautiful in my eyes."
"Let me check the photos!" Catherine lunged for the phone. Upon seeing the photos, she was nearly incensed.
Blake looked good from every angle, smirking handsomely.
While Catherine, caught off guard and forced into his embrace, made a funny face.
"How could you send such an embarrassing photo of me to your mom?" Catherine covered her forehead, furious.
Blake found her angry yet adorable expression endearing, thinking the prank worthwhile. Her pout was something he adored.
Seeing his smile, Catherine's anger subsided. She sat opposite Blake and tried to catch him off guard to take an unflattering photo.
However, she was frustrated to find that every angle of him was strikingly handsome. Especially when he looked down with his long, thick lashes, it was captivating.
She then gave up her mischievous idea.
Halsey arrived with fruit and drinks, handing Blake a coffee.
Blake accepted it with a quiet thanks.
Halsey then brought out some old photo albums containing pictures of Catherine as a newborn.
The album held Catherine's baby photos from her first month, well-preserved by Halsey. They showed the baby's chubby cheeks.
"Is this me? I look so chubby!" Catherine was surprised.
Blake reached out for the album.
Blake, looking at the photos, was reminded of Catherine as a baby.
Halsey smiled. "I remember you came with your parents to Catherine's full-moon celebration and even kissed her forehead."
Halsey remembered it so clearly. Catherine was incredibly important to him.
Catherine stared at Blake. "We met as kids? You never mentioned it."
Blake's eyes locked onto hers. "We did, and I kissed you. I remember that."
Catherine blushed. "Really? What a coincidence!"
Halsey laughed. "Your bond was meant to be, Catherine."
Catherine felt embarrassed.
Blake sipped his coffee, admired Catherine's bashful look, and felt a stir in his heart.
Perhaps he was truly smitten with her, or maybe it was destiny.
After a few sips, Blake decided to leave the father-daughter duo to their conversation.
"I'll rest upstairs," Blake said, leaving the living room.
Thinking of Catherine's baby photos, he smiled and imagined pinching her chubby cheeks.
After Blake left, Halsey and Catherine felt more at ease.
"He treats you well. I can tell." Halsey said approvingly. "He's a gentleman with great manners."
Hearing Halsey's words, Catherine was a bit embarrassed. She managed a smile.
"That's true, he's nice to me," Catherine agreed.
Halsey smiled and looked lovingly at her, though with a hint of sadness.
"Dad, can I see my brother's photos? Do you still have them?" Thinking of her deceased brother, Catherine felt a pang of sadness and immediately thought of her own children, too overwhelmed to continue.
Halsey nodded. "I have them, but I think you shouldn't look. It might upset you."
Catherine, already feeling a dull ache in her heart, reluctantly agreed. She didn't dare to look at his photo.
"Alright, I won't look," she whispered, her eyes welling up.
