My Mate Has Two Wolves

Chapter 428

Ch. 428 / 530 May 01, 2026

Time flies, and several days passed.

One day, Sunny and Leo received a police call informing them that the two criminals who had fled abroad had been apprehended.

The indignation that had been weighing on Leo's mind was finally lifted.

If not for respecting the legal boundaries, he would have sought them out for investigation and given those bastards a taste of their own medicine, making them feel the sting of a knife.

But to ensure the longevity of the business, one must operate within the law, a principle Blake knew well and that Leo also kept in mind.

Richard could have received a lighter sentence years ago, but Emerson, considering his status as the heir to the Royal Pack and his youth, let him serve a five-year term.

This was the root of Richard's resentment. He knew that with Emerson's influence, he could have avoided prison.

But Emerson upheld justice and dealt with him strictly, which fueled Richard's discontent.

Upon arriving at the police station, Sunny and Leo's brows furrowed at the news.

"The criminals confessed that they targeted Miss Garcia because of her looks and fame, with no one instigating them," the police concluded.

Leo's face turned grim. "Are these bastards really just after her for her looks?" He doubted the motive behind the kidnapping was so simple.

"Did they confess anything else? Is there someone behind this? Can we make them tell the truth?" Leo pressed.

"We found numerous posters and albums of Miss Garcia at their residence. If they're her fanatics, this could be evidence," the police explained, with limited confessions but seemingly sufficient evidence.

"Thank you for your efforts. Please continue the interrogation. This concerns my girlfriend's safety," Leo said earnestly.

"Mr. Chavez, rest assured. We'll continue the questioning and inform you of any new developments," the police promised.

Leaving the station and back in the car, Sunny frowned. "I think they're lying. They just wanted to kidnap me, not touch me. Their look wasn't obsession, more like a mission."

Leo nodded. "They won't confess easily. There might be someone manipulating them or instilling fear."

Sunny sighed. "What organization am I up against? Will they seek revenge?"

"It's not you, it's us," Leo held her hand. "This is our challenge together. If they targeted you because of your fame, I'm to blame for bringing you into this circle."

Sunny's heart stirred, her eyes welled up, and she bit her lip. "I don't want to drag you into danger, Leo. I'm worried about you. They're clearly after me."

"If you want me to rest easy, don't say such things," Leo's face darkened. "Facing danger with you is my choice."

Sunny felt warmth in her heart. Having someone to face danger with seemed to give her the courage to stand up to the world.

"Are you sure you'll stay with me? We don't even know who our opponent is; it'll be dangerous," Sunny reminded.

Leo raised an eyebrow. "Don't underestimate me. Though I'm not as skilled as you, the Royal Pack has money. I can hire bodyguards like Blake."

"It's necessary. We must take precautions," Sunny agreed. She didn't want Leo to be in harm's way.

On the way back to the company, Leo suddenly asked, "Did you have another nightmare last night? I heard you crying in your sleep."

Sunny trembled and stammered, "Did I? I don't think so. Why would I cry in my sleep?"

"Tell me the truth. I'm worried about you," Leo insisted.

Sunny played dumb. "I really didn't. What should I say?"

Leo relented. "I actually woke up when you were crying but pretended to sleep to avoid embarrassing you."

Sunny was stunned, her expression awkward. "You..."

Leo shrugged. "I didn't mean to. I just didn't want to embarrass you."

Sunny stared at her fingers, her voice trembling. "I dreamed of Olivia again. She was kidnapped, covered in blood, and I was terrified, which made me cry."

"Did you report it as I asked?" Leo still harbored resentment towards Olivia.

Sunny shook her head. "Not yet. I think she might be hiding and should be fine."

Leo snorted. "I'll give her more time to 'enjoy freedom.' When her testimony is needed, I'll do anything to bring her back."

Sunny no longer pleaded for Olivia. Since Leo didn't report her immediately, she was already grateful.

"Thank you, Leo," Sunny said softly.

Leo grunted, unsure whether to accept her gratitude or ignore it.

Sunny sighed in relief.

Arriving at the company, Sunny followed Leo towards the elevator.

Due to her injured hand, her new drama was on hold.

Originally, after Leo and Sunny broke up, several female stars in the company hinted to Leo that they wanted the role, especially the new and popular Mirabel, who had her eyes on the drama.

Alas, when Mirabel approached Leo with anticipation, he cruelly rejected her and made a remark that sparked her murderous intent towards Sunny.

Leo declared that for any future leads he starred in, the heroine would only be Sunny.
