Third Person's POV
Richard said mysteriously, "Just wait and see. Someone will expose it."
"Isn't it supposed to be made public?" Nick asked curiously.
"If it were made public, Emerson might just be so angry that he'd die," Richard glanced in the direction of Emerson.
Nick nodded in agreement. "His condition does seem really serious. Dad, are you starting to care about Emerson?"
"I just don't want him to collapse so soon," a complex expression flickered across Richard's face.
Nick let out a cold laugh. "I thought your hatred for him had already faded."
"He gave me life, but at the same time, he subjected me to countless blows and torments. I don't even know whether to hate him or respect him," Richard snorted coldly.
At that moment, the sound of flattery from the crowd outside the main door could be heard. Nick looked over and saw Blake and Catherine walking in, receiving everyone's congratulations.
Since it was an engagement party and not a formal wedding, Catherine was not wearing a white wedding dress but a burgundy evening gown.
This gown was no ordinary piece. It was adorned with over a thousand diamonds, and the patterns on it were exquisitely beautiful and extremely festive.
Blake, on the other hand, was dressed in a black suit, standing tall and handsome with a straight posture.
As soon as the two made their appearance, they immediately captured everyone's attention. The women were envious and jealous of Catherine, while the men were overshadowed by Blake's presence.
Nick, watching this scene, had a dazed look in his eyes and a gloomy expression on his face.
On the other side...
Leo woke up and quickly propped himself up to check the wound on Sunny.
Sunny was still asleep, but her sleep was restless. Her eyebrows were furrowed, and her expression was pained.
With her arm injured, she had tossed and turned until late last night and was plagued by nightmares after falling asleep.
Leo noticed her arm was exposed outside the blanket and felt cold to the touch. He quickly and gently pulled the blanket over her, but accidentally woke Sunny up in the process.
Sunny opened her eyes and was startled to see the face so close to hers.
"Are you awake now?" Her complexion had improved a bit. She was relieved to wake up and be rid of the nightmares, and she was glad to still be in his arms.
Leo responded with a nod and said, "Don't move around. I'm going to attend Blake's engagement party today. Are you coming?"
"Me? I'll pass." Sunny shook her head. It wasn't that she didn't want to go. She just felt embarrassed.
Leo didn't insist and nodded. "Alright, you stay home and rest. Call me if you need anything."
"Okay." Sunny breathed a sigh of relief, grateful that he didn't force her.
After getting out of bed and freshening up, Leo didn't head to the closet to pick out clothes. Instead, he first boiled some hot water and placed it by the bedside, then went into the kitchen.
Sunny, unable to sleep anymore, got up in her loose pajamas and walked out. She heard noises and the sizzling sound of oil coming from the kitchen.
She walked over in surprise and saw Leo, dressed in a blue robe, frying eggs, toasting bread, and warming milk on a small stove. The aroma was overwhelming. She could hardly believe her eyes.
Leo glanced over and said indifferently, "Didn't I tell you to stay in bed? Why are you up?"
"I can't sleep anymore!" Sunny smiled and asked, "What are you doing?"
"Making breakfast for you." Leo's tone was flat, as if it were the most ordinary thing in the world.
But this shocked Sunny. The big star who never did household chores was actually making breakfast for her first thing in the morning. Where had he learned to do this?
Seeing her leaning on her injured arm, watching him silently with a gleam in her eyes, Leo asked, "Moved by me again?" He walked over and saw the tearful look in her eyes. "Come on, don't be like that!"
Sunny wiped away her tears and asked softly, "Leo, why are you being so nice to me again?"
"You're injured. I can't very well hold a grudge against a wounded person, can I?" Leo joked.
Sunny knew he was changing the subject and looked down, tears falling. "I'm afraid that after enjoying your kindness, I'll suddenly lose it. That kind of letdown is too painful."
Leo frowned, hearing her sound so wronged, and said, "Don't worry. I won't be irresponsible anymore. Trust me!" He reached out and caught her falling tears.
Sunny trembled and asked, "Can I still trust you?" She used to believe his words without a doubt.
"Do you have any other choice but to trust me?" Leo gave a smug smile.
Sunny thought to herself that she did have other choices, but she didn't want to pick any that didn't involve him.
"My eggs are going to burn!" Leo noticed the eggs were getting burnt and hurriedly flipped them in a fluster.
Seeing his flustered appearance, Sunny couldn't help but laugh. The sorrowful atmosphere dissipated instantly.
"You told me not to come in and disturb you!" Leo was a bit annoyed.
"It's okay. I'll eat whatever you make." Sunny was delighted.
"That's the spirit!" Leo nodded with satisfaction.
A few minutes later, the food was laid out on the table. The two sat down. Leo spread some sauce on the bread and handed it to Sunny."Eat up."
With her left arm injured, Sunny had to let Leo help her. She took a bite of the bread, and the sweet flavor seemed to seep into her soul.
After finishing his meal, Leo went to pick out a suit and called to Sunny while choosing a tie, "Come help me pick one!"
Sunny was taken aback. "My taste is bad. Just pick it yourself."
"I'm giving you this chance!" Leo leaned against the cabinet.
Sunny's heart fluttered, feeling like she was exercising a wife's right.
"How about this one?" Sunny pointed to a tie and asked.
Leo's expression froze for a moment. He said indifferently, "Just as I thought, your taste really isn't that great!"
Sunny was speechless. She had warned him beforehand.
But although Leo complained, he still chose that tie. Sunny was puzzled, "You said it doesn't look good. Why are you still wearing it?"
Leo didn't care. "You picked it, so it has a different meaning." He tied the tie, kissed Sunny, and said, "I'm off!"
