Third Person's POV
Catherine was stunned into silence. The unique mind-link of the werewolves allowed her to clearly sense the pain in her partner's soul.
She instinctively released calming pheromones, and the peachy sweetness mixed with Blake's surging pine scent in the air.
This was the bond unique to destined mates.
Next second, she threw herself into his arms, hugging him tightly, closing her eyes, voice trembling, "This is why you've been tolerating your uncle, right? You don't want to worry Grandpa about our relationship."
Blake nodded, gently stroking her long hair. "Yes, if it weren't for Emerson, I would have sent him back to prison long ago."
"I'm sorry." Catherine grew more sorry for him, hugging him even tighter, wishing she could share some of his burden, not wanting him to bear it all alone.
The wolf mark on Blake's neck was slightly warm, his fingers trailing through her silky blonde hair. "Without Emerson's restraint, my claws would have torn his throat out long ago."
The alpha wolf's aura filled the room, yet turned gentle when touching his mate.
Catherine nodded, sharing the same wish, "Hope Emerson can have some peace in his final days."
"Anyway, I'm really happy today. I'm finally going to marry you." Blake gently helped her sit up, holding her face in his hands, and kissed her forehead, "You know? I've dreamed of marrying you. I've waited for this day for so long."
Hearing this, Catherine couldn't help but laugh lightly. "We've known each other for less than a year. How can you say you've waited so long?"
"If you knew I wanted to marry you half a month after meeting you, you wouldn't say that!" Blake also laughed, thinking about how quickly he was captivated by her.
Once, he was so proud, self-disciplined, and a bit unrestrained.
But when he met Catherine, it was as if he was tamed by her kindness.
Even if she was full of disdain for him, he couldn't help but want to get close to her, to catch her attention, to show his presence.
Catherine looked at him in surprise. "No way. You hated me back then. How could you want to marry me?"
"Don't you know I'm just stubborn? I like you to bits but act like I hate you. You have no idea how much I've suffered because of this. I'll definitely change this habit in the future. If I like you, I'll say it loud and clear, so you know," Blake thought about all the unnecessary suffering he had endured, feeling he truly deserved it.
Catherine laughed happily again. "Really? You are so strange, liking me but being cold to me. You do deserve to suffer."
"Yep, I deserve it. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have realized how annoying my personality is. It's you who helped me change my bad habits. I should thank you properly," Blake admitted his personality flaws.
He used to think it was shameful, but now he was proud of it, after all, not everyone can face their shortcomings.
Catherine laughed even more, then said a bit smugly, "So, how are you going to thank me? Are you going to give me a lot of money?"
Blake's eyes were slightly surprised. "Catherine, I thought you weren't greedy, but it turns out you're only after my money, not me?"
Seeing him about to get cheeky again, Catherine quickly interrupted, "I've already got you. Don't you know women are fickle and fond of novelty?"
Catherine was teasing him on purpose, wanting to see his reaction.
Sure enough, Blake's expression instantly turned a bit melancholy, staring at her with a hint of grievance. "You're already tired of me so soon?"
Catherine didn't expect the company CEO to become so insecure, which was unlike his usual style. He used to be extremely self-centered and looked down on everyone.
Catherine couldn't bear to see him looking wronged and grievous. She immediately reached out to gently touch his handsome face. "Don't worry. I won't leave you. Where could I find a man as handsome, rich, capable, and physically fit as you? Besides, you're the father of my children. Even if I don't want you, the kids definitely will."
Hearing her jokes, Blake's body suddenly pressed down toward her, his lips dangerously close to her ear. "Daring to joke about me, you need some punishment!"
When Leo returned from the engagement party, he drove a bit out of his way to buy a locally famous roast chicken.
Last time he brought Sunny here, she ate a lot and praised the roast chicken endlessly. She was quite a foodie.
Leo had just walked out of the seven-star hotel lobby and saw the drizzle in front of the door, his mood inexplicably stirred. His mind instantly flashed with Sunny's image when she was eating the roast chicken without any image.
Thinking of her being injured, having to stay at home, Leo's heart softened.
When he pushed open the door, he saw Sunny sitting on the sofa alone, looking dazed, with red eyes.
Seeing it was Leo, Sunny quickly got up and walked toward the bathroom.
Leo followed her into the bathroom and saw her wiping her eyes with a cold towel.
"What's wrong?" Leo's voice revealed concern as he saw her unusual appearance.
Sunny immediately shook her head and replied softly, "Nothing, just the wound hurts."
"Is that so? Then we should go to the hospital right away, see a doctor, in case it's infected!" Leo frowned slightly after listening, his tone somewhat urgent.
Sunny shook her head again, took a step back, and covered the wound with one hand. "No, no, no need to go. It hurt a bit just now, but it doesn't hurt now!"
Seeing that she seemed to be hiding something, Leo's expression immediately turned serious. "Sunny, what are you hiding from me? Tell me, I want to know."
