Nathan and Katia never woke up for dinner the night before. Katia awoke the next morning wrapped in Nathan’s arms and snuggled against his chest. Blushing as the night before, came rushing back to her. She felt his manhood poking her belly and smiled. She won’t be smacking it out of the way anymore. She heard Aza giggle in her head. Katia looked at the clock on the table next to the bed, it showed it was 4:00 am. She wasn’t sleepy and wanted some quiet time for herself. However, every time she moved, Nathan tightened his hold on her and would mutter gibberish in his sleep.
After what seemed like an hour of slowly wiggling out of Nathan’s hold, and then inching to the side of the bed, Katia was free. She tipped toed across the floor to the closet, grabbed some black leggings and one of Nathan’s hoodies. The hoodie she grabbed was maroon and said, “I Bite Back”, so she chose her maroon sneakers to go with the outfit. She would have to remember to find out who bought clothes for her and thank them. Keeping as quiet as she could, Katia made her way into the bathroom, brushed her teeth and hair, dressed and snuck out of the room. Sighing in relief, she headed down the stairs. The pack house was mostly dark and chilly. A few pack members were awake preparing for the day. She could hear them moving around in the kitchen to start the breakfast meal. “Girly, Alpha is going to be mad when he wakes up, and you are gone. You should still be resting”. Aza warned her. “I know, but I just want some time for us. I want to go outside and smell the dark of the early morning”. Katia sounded so sorrowful when she answered back.
“What’s wrong girly?” Aza was yawning and was hoping for some more shut eye. “Be careful you are not full strength yet.”
“Aza, I am just worried. Nathan and his pack are good people. What if I made a mistake coming back, and we get them Killed?” Katia questioned.
Aza, being the wolf that she is, sent an image of herself in wolf form and standing with pearls around her neck and a haughty look on her face, “Why, girly, we are a goddess and we do not make mistakes. Besides, Selene and the family will be helping us. "She snorted.
“Oh Wolfie, you are just too much. Goddesses make mistakes too. I mean, look someone gave me a conceited immature wolf", Katia giggled back.
“Did you just insult me? Oooo, you will pay for that!” Aza threatened. “Seriously girly, we have others to help us now, and I agree with Selene and my wolf sister Loza. This is the first time we have been so close and may have a chance to stop grandfather.”
Human and wolf sat quietly and inhaled the cold crisp morning air. They sat in the autumn grass covered with frost. Katia was cold but exhilarated all at once. It had been so long since she did not have to worry about what she might do wrong to cause her next punishment. These pack lands were beautiful with the lush green forest that was beginning to change its colors to the yellows, oranges, reds, and browns of fall. The green grass was getting brown spots throughout the fields and leaves were tumbling down on the ground.
“Wolfie, I can just see all the leaves raked into piles and the pups jumping into them.” She laughed. “Do you think we could do that too? We never got to do anything like that.”
“Girly, I think our Alpha mate will let us have as much fun as we want.” Aza replied, feeling the sadness that they did not get to be child and pup growing up. They did not get to play games or with other children.
Katia cocked her head to the side, listening to someone shout orders and the footsteps running in her direction. Nathan, Chipper, and Kelp came to a stumbling halt just in front of her. Chipper almost tripped over her small form sitting there. She stared up at them with her big purple eyes and waited to find out what was going on.
Nathan spoke first, “Little one, you scared me when I awoke, and you were gone. Then no one saw you anywhere in the pack house. It is cold out here, and you have no coat on.” Chipper had linked everyone else letting them know the Luna had been found and was safe. He watched as Nathan picked her up bridal style and started back to the house.
Luna answered linked back, “I wanted to be outside with beautiful colors and smells of our natural world. I am sorry. I did not mean to worry anyone.”
“No reason to apologize me lady,” Chipper said with a horrible British accent. “The Alpha here takes to having notions of losing his fair damsel, he does.”
“For the love of the goddess, Chip knock it off. Okay everyone, let's get some breakfast.” The Alpha said, leaning into his mate’s neck and kissing her mark.
Katia snuggled into his chest and shivered from the shot of electricity that shot through her body when he kissed her mark. She smiled into his chest, thinking maybe she had really gotten lucky like her sister claims.
As they walk back, Katia listens to the men teasing Nathan. Kelp is chiming in now, “I thought a wild animal had gotten into the pack house. I had just entered the kitchen through the back door, and I heard a tortured roar.” Looking at Katia, Kelp continued, “Nathan comes running in naked and hair tangled hanging around his face, yelling where is she? The kitchen staff are standing there dumbfounded, not knowing what to do. One of the women asks him who he is looking for, and he says your luna.”
At this point, Katia notices that Nathan is turning red in the face and is giving Kelp a dirty look. It didn’t seem to bother Kelp at all as he continued, “So the woman looks at the Alpha with a horrific look and says to him, you lost the Luna?” Katia giggled with that hoarse whispery sound at Kelp’s attempt to imitate the woman.
Nathan is quietly growling at Kelp to try and shut him up. However, Kelp does not take the hint still. “Little ghost, the kitchen staff is watching their Alpha walk around the kitchen, mumbling about where she could be, as he opens every cabinet in the room and looks inside. When he opens the oven to look inside, the woman proceeds to tell your mate that they certainly are not cooking you for breakfast.”
Katia is full out laughing as only she can. Nathan looks like he wants to murder Kelp. So, Chipper picks the story up from there. “Alpha snaps out of whatever mental state he was in and explains he woke up and couldn’t find you. We looked everywhere in the pack house and decided to organize a search party to look outside.”
Nathan growled huskily, “That is when we stumbled upon you outside. Little one, you should have awoken me. I would have come outside with you. You are still healing and may have fallen or worse.”
Reaching up, Katia stoked his cheek, “I am truly sorry, Nathan. I wanted to be alone. This is all new to me. I wanted to enjoy the quiet and try to process my new life and what is to come.”
