The Snow Moon pack doctor is a short rotund man with green eyes and short dark black hair. He constantly has a pen behind his ear but can never find his pen. He walks into Katia’s room wearing his white lab coat and pushing his glasses up on his stubby nose. The man is very unusual looking for a werewolf.
Next to him is one of the nurses that has been helping with Katia’s care. She is a tall red head who reminds Katia of Coral. She has bright blue eyes and has a willowy shape. Her bright red lips are what makes you take notice of her.
The doctor clears his throat and says, “Alright young lady, let’s see how bad things are now that you have finally woken up.” He starts prodding and poking. Raising and bending her limbs with hmm or uh huh here and there. The nurse stands there smiling at Katia from time to time or helping Katia to maneuver around the wires and tubes still connected to her.
Katia is embarrassed by all the attention and the way he looks over his glasses at her after seeing and inspecting certain scars.
The doctor is obviously linking with the nurse when the nurse says, “Luna, this is our pack doctor. You can call him Opie. My name is Lana. The doctor would like me to help you remove your clothing so he may inspect the injuries we observed on your torso when you arrived. We realize some are old and just scars, but he wants to make sure they have healed as well as possible and the new injuries are healing properly also.
Katia blushed but nodded that she was okay with the examination and allowed the nurse to help her remove her clothing. Doctor Opie continued to poke, prod, bend, and inspect every inch of her body. The little grunts and growls worried Katia, she didn’t want them to think that she welcomed this kind of abuse and, as far as suicide, well, that was none of their business.
Doctor Opie finally finished the examination and said, “Luna, you have been through it and I will never understand how another wolf could do this to anyone, let alone their own kind. Who ever tried to take care of you, the last couple of years, must have been in the medical field because they did a damn good job healing you when your wolf could not.”
His and the nurse’s eyes glazed over, meaning they were linking. Lana took hold of her hand and said, “Luna, I know this is embarrassing for you and hate to see how badly you were tortured, but we noticed scarring between your legs. The doctor wants me to ask if you were ever raped?”
Katia shook her head no, blushing the whole time. She pushed the words, “He tried but did not succeed” out of her throat and mouth.
They both nodded and the doctor was looking for his pen once more. Nurse Lana handed him another from her pocket. He made some notes and stuck the pen behind his ear. Katia did not know how he did, but he now had three pens behind each ear.
Looking at Katia, the doctor asked, “Well, Luna, is there anything we can do for you before I make my report to the Alpha and decide the best way to treat you?”
Katia’s throat was really starting to hurt from using what voice she had so much but garbled out, “Could I have a shower and something cold to drink?”
The doctor smiled and answered, “We most certainly can grant those requests for you, Luna.”
While the nurse started helping the Luna get a shower, the doctor headed to the Alpha in the waiting room to give his report. Walking past one of the other nurses on duty, he let her know that Lana could probably use her help with the Luna.
Walking into the waiting room, Alpha stood, and Doctor Opie said, “Come to my office, Alpha, with anyone else you think should hear this or may be able to help piece things together. You are not going to like a lot of what you are about to hear. The most important thing is to remember we need to do the right thing to help the Luna heal.”
The Alpha and the ranking wolves that had been gathered in Luna’s room followed the doctor to his office and they sat around the table in the conference area. The doctor opened his file and read over his notes for a few minutes. He really did need to read them again, he wanted to gather his nerves for what he was about to impart to his Alpha about his mate.
The doctor stuck his pen behind his right ear, and one fell from behind his to the floor. He cleared his throat and said, “Alpha Nathan, your Luna is seventeen years old. She is a moon touched wolf as she has dark purple eyes like your gamma. She has been abused, tortured, mutilated, starved, and almost raped. She has so many scars that I do not think I saw an area of her skin that was not scarred. Some areas have scars on top of scars. From the x-rays we took when she first arrived, it looks as if her wolf was forced to shift at a very young and immature age. Someone with medical training helped to heal her during that time, so her bones were not damaged to the point she could never shift again. I don’t think her shifts are painful and, if they are, her wolf will do what she can to protect her.”
The doctor paused to let the Alpha digest what he had just said. The Alpha gestured for him to continue. Taking a deep breath, “The Luna will never grow any bigger than she is. She had been malnourished for too many years to reverse that damage. She will always be the tiny size she is. Her wolf may be a bit larger but never the size she could have been for the same reasons. Internally, there is some damage but nothing that will not let them live a normal wolf life. She can have children and may have to make things a little easier than some others. Mentally, she and her wolf are fine. Yes, she is going to have some PTSD, but with patients and healing, she should be able to overcome some of it.”
The doctor looked around the room as he stopped speaking and not one male had a dry eye. Dalia, Alpha’s sister, was openly crying and her mate was trying to soothe her while tears ran down his cheeks. “I know that the beta and gamma from Luna’s old pack did what you could do with your medical team to help her and if you had not well it would have been much worse.”
Alpha Nathan wiped his eyes and looked out the window while asking, “What about her throat and voice? Will she ever speak any better than now? What extra damage was done from the jump over the waterfall?”
The doctor picked the pen up from the table that someone had put there on the floor earlier. He did not want to answer those questions. But jumped in anyway, “Alpha Nathan, the Luna’s throat and vocal chords are just to damaged and she will never have a normal voice. I suggest that she learns sign language sometime. The newer damage I can see from her fall into the waterfall caused so many internal injuries that I honestly have no idea how she is alive and healed this well in such a short time.”
Chipper, the Snow Moon beta, looked at Mark and Kelp, “Sorry to interrupt Ope, my man, but I am wondering why did you two not do anything to help her while the abuse and torture was happening?”
Both Mark and Kelp looked down, already carrying the guilt of not being strong enough to override an Alpha command. “We could not. When Alpha Thomas thought someone would try and help her or go against them, he would command the entire pack to not raise a finger to help her until he said otherwise.”
Nathan spoke up, “Chip, you were not there and do not know how other Alpha’s can be where their packs are concerned. Their Alpha was broken in more ways than one and there is no dealing with someone like that.”
Doctor Opie stepped forward once again, pushing a pen behind his ear which ended up standing straight up sticking out of his hair, “Young Katia is here now, and she is the mate of our Alpha. She will have what she needs to heal and maybe the moon goddess will grant her a miracle.” He stood and smiled, “Gentlemen and lady,” he bowed towards Dalia, “The nurse has let me know that the Luna is done with her shower and is asking for her beta and gamma as she keeps phrasing it.”
Alpha Nathan stood smiling also, “Well, I suggest we not keep her waiting. Go ahead Mark and Kelp. Find out what your Alpha Luna wants. I will be there shortly. I have my own questions. Like what the hell is an Alpha Luna?”
Kane suddenly laughed, “I don’t think you are going to enjoy what is coming your way. But you are about to find out the answer to your question and I would not miss this for anything.”
