Katia pov
I heard everything that happened and said in the last few moments. The laughter coming from the male walking out the door is deep and rumbly. It is also contagious. Forgetting that I could not talk in this realm, I giggle out, “Me either.” Which ends up sounding like some feral creature trying to growl and whisper at the same time.
Everyone in the room spun around and stood staring at me. Aza is in my head saying, “Do something.” What does she want me to do? Jump up off the bed and dance a jig? She starts laughing and dancing around in my head saying, “Oh goddess no! Might scare everyone and make them think you lost your mine.” So, we just lie there staring back at them. Can’t really move too much anyway with all the tubes and wires running everywhere.
Mark and Kelp come forwards. Kelp is holding a pretty girl around the waist and acting like it is his lifeline. She must be his mate. Kelp still comes to me dragging her with him and says, “Hey little ghost, you’re back. We missed you and could you please stop trying to leave us? Oh yeah, look what I found.!”
The girl is giggling in his arms. “Hi Luna! I am Dalia, Kelp’s mate, and Alpha Nathan’s sister.” She flashes me the sweetest smile and I hope that we get to know one another and become friends.
Of course, Mark, Mister Fussy, moves to the front so I can see him and all the while he is asking Kelp about Aza. “How is her wolf? Did they both make it back? What the hell is you wanting to die all the time? Don’t you ever kill yourself again! You hear me Alpha Luna?” He was looking at me now with tears streaming down his cheeks and I felt horrible starting to understand how many people my decision affected.
Slightly lifting my fingers and trying to wiggle them around the tubes running into them, I linked him, “Mark, I am sorry. I could not deal with the pain of the rejection on top of everything else. Mine and Wolfie’s hopes, dreams, and future were taken from us. We did not know what to do and were so tired of this life.”
Tears formed in my own eyes as I saw how much I hurt them again. “Xey I came back.”
Mark saw my hand just kind of flopping around like a fish and grabbed hold of it. As he was asking me, “Why? Why did you come back this time? You two have finally let go of this world and we weren’t there to pull you back.” Someone hanging in the back was growling. The growl was making my body tingle in the most wonderful way. It was like little shivers all over me, but they were warm shivers. The heat was traveling to the core of my womanhood, and I was getting all tingly there too.
Suddenly, the most handsome man I have ever seen came toward the bed, “If you know what is good for you, you’ll stop touching my mate. She is awake now and you are unmatched. My wolf can no longer tolerate you touching her.”
As he moved closer, Katia’s eyes widened, taking in all of the man moving in her direction, “Goddess Aza, he is huge. I hope Selene knows what she is doing mating us. He could snap us like a twig.”
“Yeah, but with this one I have a feeling we would die with a smile on our faces and come back just so he could do it again. Mmmm, look at all those muscles. Wonder what the muscle between his legs looks like all swollen and hard.” Aza sighed.
“Stop that wolfie! You are becoming a dirty girl!” Katia tried to reprimand her wolf, but she was wondering the same thing. The man was just staring at her, and it was making her all hot and tingly.
Mark had let go of her hand and taken a step to the side and back to make room for the man calling her his mate. She knew it was true because she could feel the pull of the mate bond. It was very strong with this one. Letting her know that he was her original fated mate given to her by her sister, and they had finally found one another. Now it was time to find out if he truly was different than the others she had known. It was unnerving the way he was standing there staring at her. She wanted to communicate with him, but it would take too much strength to link him without the mate bond sealed or a blood connection. So, she continued to stare back at him while lying in the bed.
As they stared at one another, Katia noticed how piercing his eyes were. They were such a light shade of grey that she thought they were silver at first. His had been kissed by the sun everywhere she could see skin. She started blushing when she wondered if down there was tanned also. Of course, he noticed the blush right away and asked, “What are you blushing so like my little mate? Should some of the people here leave? Are there too many visitors with you just waking up?” Nathan forgot she could not speak like everyone else. It took a lot of effort to use what voice she had.
Katia, thoroughly embarrassed that he had caught her blushing because of a naughty thought, blurted, “I was thinking the color of your eyes reminded of the belly of an armadillo, your hair reminds me of dirt, and your skin is sun kissed like a brand-new piece of leather.” She smiled although her voice was such a raspy growl, she was able to say all of what she was thinking and pay him a compliment on his good looks.
Everyone else in the room burst out laughing!
While her wolf immediately rolled onto her back laughing and kicking her four legs, “Oh My goddess, girly, you just told your new mate that his eyes look like an armadillo belly, his hair looks like dirt, and he has leather for skin.”
“I was complimenting him” Katia whined back to her.
“What? Will you compare his ears to an elephant?” her wolf continued to laugh.
Suddenly, the Alpha grabs hold of her hand and says, “Thank you. Now let’s figure out how we are going to communicate so I can find out more about my beautiful mate.”
Katia sees his hand move to push her hair back behind her ear and flinches. She saw the look of hurt on his face, but she couldn’t help it. It is learned behavior from all the abuse. She wants to shrink into the bed and tunnel under the covers to hide. “Wolfie, I don’t know if I can do this. I know what Selene, mama, and papa said about him not being like other Alphas. How can they be so sure? What if it is something to do with whatever grandpapa does to prevent us from living long in this realm?”
“Then we take him out and go back to our realm, as we agreed. I think he is different though. His wolf is constantly assuring me we are safe.” Aza tells her.
Nathan says, “The doctor is on his way, and he wants to do a complete physical. Everyone is out now and when he is done, we will gather back here to make some decisions.”
Everyone leaves except the Alpha and Katia works her throat to put together the words she needs to say, “I want you to leave to. Please! I don’t wish for my body to be displayed like a work of abusive art to you.”
She has tears in her eyes when she tells the Alpha this and he cannot think of anything he could say that would change her mind. His little luna continues, “Please Alpha, I mean no disrespect. I am not ready to talk about this subject yet.”
Seeing her tears, he nods and leaves. His wolf, Kalen, grumbles in the recesses of his mind, “Nathan, that girl and her wolf are so injured that I swear if anyone is alive that caused this, I will rip them to shreds.” Kalen then lets out a chuff and tells him, “Oh and my little mate does not realize as we are communicating with one another I am able to pull some things from her mind and Kane is right. Our mate is special, and you are about to get hit with the surprise of your life.”
