Married to the heartless Billionaire

Chapter 86. OBEDIENT

Ch. 86 / 114 Sep 17, 2024

SOPHIA CASTILLO

Adrian opened his arms wide for me and I embraced him. I missed him so much and his addictive smell.

He wrapped his arms around me, almost squeezing the life out of me.

It felt good to be this close to him after a long time. Being away from him makes my heart grow fonder all of the time.

"I've missed you, my love," he pulled back from the hug and kisses me on my lips.

A kiss I was expecting to short almost become a male-out session. I heard his groan from the back of his throat and I didn't need anyone telling me that he was horny.

We pulled apart from one another when one particular human cleared her throat. That human is none other than Jessica.

She has a smile plastered on her face, more like she was forcing it. "You guys might wanna take it easy as there are a lot of single souls here," she said and I fought the urge to roll my eyes at her statement.

"Come let's go in," Adrian said to me, placing his arms around my waist with Jessica following behind us.

I didn't want to think of my worries earlier today and just focus on what Adrian and I had but I just couldn't let it go.

What was his relationship with Jessica in the past? What if they had nothing and I'm just stressing too much?

It wouldn't be bad to ask and be clarified for my peace of mind because If I didn't ask, I'd keep being bothered.

"Adrian," Jessica made us halt on our track just as we were about to climb the stairs.

"What?" He answered.

"Do not forget what we spoke about and also, please see me later," she said in a soft, too girly tone that made me cringe.

I was starting to think that the reason I do not find anything she does nice was maybe that I didn't like her.

Was I insecure? I needed to speak to someone.

Maybe I was getting the wrong vibes or maybe it was all in my head.

"I'd do that and I did not forget," he replied to her.

She smiled at him before we continued to walk. I wanted to ask what it was he had helped her with. Adrian doesn't keep secrets from me so I am sure he'd tell me what it was.

"How have you been?" He asked as we climbed the stairs.

"I've been good. How was your journey, did you check on what we talked about?" I asked, referring to the time I was sent a picture of him and Jessica.

"I wasn't able to do anything but one thing is certain, we will have to watch our back, and also the person is likely to do the same again.

He opened the door to our room and we entered. "So what were you and Jessica talking about?" I decided to ask even when my brain told me not to.

"Nothing much," he replied, taking off his suit.

"I'm exhausted. I will have to shower quickly," he said and I felt he was dismissing the topic.

I said nothing and nodded my head in response. The fact that he dismissed the topic only made me think that there was something and I wasn't going to stop until I found out what it was.

I walked out of the room because I do not want to see him or I might end up asking and speaking in a way I shouldn't.

"Where are you going to?" Sarah asked.

"I'm just going out," I replied.

"Are you alright?" She asked, referring to this morning.

I smiled at her. "Yes. I am," I replied to her before continuing on my path.

I have no idea where I was going but I knew I was going somewhere. Probably just take a stroll to clear my head and come back later when my mood was good.

"Hi, Sophia."

I didn't need to turn to look at the person who called my name because that voice belonged to Jessica.

I took in a deep breath and exhaled. "What do you want?" I asked.

"So, I wanted to speak to you about something," she said and I wonder what it was that she has in mind.

It better not be one of those stupid words of hers.

"About what?" I asked calmly.

"Some of Adrian and my old friends, the ones we group up with as teenagers want to come over. They are not staying. It's more like a get-together," she informed me.

"So what do you want me to do?" I asked.

"They are coming over, that's what I want to tell you. That's the talk Adrian and I was supposed to have. I was thinking they come over and we use the garden instead of going out," she clarified.

So this was what she wanted to talk to him about that Adrian couldn't tell me? What was hard about it for him to tell me.

"Okay. So what should I do?" I asked, not clearly understanding my part in this whole arrangement.

"Nothing. I just wanted to inform you of the lady of this place so you are aware. I know Adrian must have told you and I do not want you to think everything was my arrangement," she replied.

"Why would I think so Jessica? I have no reason to think so. It's fine. You can do whatever," I said.

"Are you leaving?" She asked.

"I don't think I have to answer you," I replied.

"You know that you don't have to treat me this way right? I mean why do we always have to act like enemies when we have nothing to fight about?" Her brows rose slightly.

That's the question. Why do we have to be enemies when we have nothing in-between us to fight for.

"I'm not your enemy and I do not consider you mine so can I go now?" I asked.

"Babe."

It was Adrian that called. He was walking down the stairs and I looked at him with a scowl on my face.

"Why did you leave? Did you need to get something?" He asked, walking closer to me.

I didn't want to speak to him with an attitude so as not to give any reason for Jessica to smile.

"I'm just going out," I replied and he stared at me with a questioning look on his face.

"You are going out? To where?" He asked.

"I'm going out. That's it," I replied.

"Are you going to drive or you are going to use a driver? I can drive you to your destination instead," he said.

"You do not have to worry. I'm going out and I'd be back later," I replied.

He pinched the bridge of his nose while staring at me with a frantic expression on his face.

He pulled me with him to a secluded spot. "What happened?" He asked and I pulled my arms from his hold.

"Nothing happened," I replied, looking away.

"Something happened and it involves me, doesn't it? I mean you are frowning at me and you pulled your hands just now so something is up. What is it?" He asked inquisitively.

"You tell me, what do you think it is?" I retorted.

He was silent for some seconds as if trying to figure out what had happened and where he had gone wrong.

"I can't think of anything. We were talking just now and so what happened?" He asked.

"A lot happened and I don't even want to speak now," I said firmly.

"Are you sure? Because if you won't tell me what happened, I won't be letting you leave," he said firmly.

I scoffed. "So what now? You are back to caging me and telling me what to do?" I folded my arms across my chest.

"What? Where did that even come from?" He sounded confused and hurt and I felt bad for saying that but I didn't let that break me.

"I'm not caging you or restricting you from going anywhere. I'm just asking that we speak before you leave and that's it," he rephrased.

I did not say anything to him not because I did not have what to say but because I felt bad for the words I had just said.

"Can I go?" I said instead.

He stood for a while, trying to read me but I did not for once give him a hint. After some seconds, he stood aside for me and I hesitated before walking away, not bothering to look back.

Maybe I should just go back and talk to him about it instead of bottling it up because it hurts me too.

I took a very long stroll and returned when it was dark. When I left, it was almost dark and when I returned, it was dark.

All through I didn't get a text or phone call from Adrian. I wonder why I was expecting it when I asked him to leave me be and Adrian was that obedient.

He does whatever I tell him. I wished he had just pulled me back and forced me to speak but he didn't.

"Stupid Adrian!" I muttered.
