Married to the heartless Billionaire

Chapter 88. UNABLE TO REACH HER

Ch. 88 / 114 Sep 17, 2024

SOPHIA CASTILLO

My headache. I could barely open my eyes without feeling pain in the back of my eyes. I felt weak all over my body and beads of sweat formed on my forehead.

I've been seeing symptoms of fever for days now and finally, it has shown itself. I couldn't get up from the best and my breath ragged.

"Are you alright?" Annabella asked.

"I'm...not," I managed to say.

I felt weak in every part of my body and in pain too. "I think we have to go to the hospital," she said with her palm on my forehead, checking for my temperature.

"Can you... Call my husband?" I insisted.

"Sure," she replied, walking away to get my phone.

She gave it to me so that I could unlock it and she dialed Adrian's number.

"He is not answering," she said after some seconds.

She dialed again. While she dialed his number, I closed my eyes, extremely tired to open them.

"He is not answering," she said again.

"I will have to get you to the hospital. Once he sees the missed call, I'm sure he'd reply," she said.

"I... I can't get...up," I informed her.

I was that exhausted. I cannot walk and it felt as if no part of my body was functioning anymore.

"You can get up? How do you feel?" She asked.

"Sick," I replied curtly.

"Just stay still. I'd get someone to help me carry you," she told me before going out of the room.

Some minutes later, she came back with a man who helped carry me and they drive me off to the nearest hospital.

ADRIAN CASTILLO.

I frowned when I took my phone from Jessica's hands and I saw thirteen missed calls from Sophia.

And from the time the calls came, it was twelve hours ago. I had left my phone with her and we have been with each other a lot of times asides from the time I had to go to other meetings.

"Why didn't you tell me Sophia called?" I asked her.

"Oh, I forgot," he replied, laughing it off.

"It's not funny," I replied, slightly irritated.

"I never said it was. You were busy with people and each time I saw you, it slipped my mind, not as if I'd intentionally not tell you that your wife called.

"Did you answer one of the calls?" I asked.

"I did but I couldn't hear her. She called two more times asides from the missed ones and I tried asking what was wrong but I couldn't hear her," she replied.

I just hope she was fine.

I dialed her number and waited for it to go through. It rang but no response and the automated robotic woman on the phone made that clear, pissing me off.

I dialed her line more than three times, it rang but she never answered.

It made me worried. Was she mad that I didn't answer her phone call? I just hope it wasn't and she understood that I was busy.

I already told her of my schedule today so for her to call knowing that I might not keep my phone with me then it must be important.

I wanted to text her but I couldn't.

"Mathew, drive to New York University," I informed my driver as soon as I came out of the building.

He looked surprised but he didn't ask any questions and got into the car.

"What do you mean Sophia's university? Do you realize it is late? I do not think this is a nice idea," Jessica said.

"She called more than thirteen times when she could drop a message and wait for my reply," I replied.

"And so? It doesn't mean something happened to her. What if you go and she's fine? I do not think she'd appreciate you traveling from here to her university just to find her," Jessica retorted.

"I'm going there and I do not need you to tell me what to do. You can call my other driver or use an Uber to go back, whichever sits well with you," I told her, getting into the car.

She doesn't know Sophia. Sophia wouldn't call this much and not leave a text for once. I felt something was wrong in the pit of my belly. I was so angry at myself for not being able to answer the phone call.

I just hope that she's fine and nothing is wrong with her as I was thinking.

"What?" I asked Jessica who was getting into the car with me.

"I can't let you go alone. Let's go and see what happened but trust me when I tell you that it's nothing and you are just worked up," she replied, sitting down on the seat.

"It's better to see formed to just relax and wait for her to call me back," I replied.

All through the ride, I dialed her number as many times as I could but no one answered the call. She could either not be with her phone or she was ignoring my calls but that was impossible.

I didn't want to text her but I decided to should in case she was ignoring my calls.

TO MINE: Hey, please answer your calls, I'm so sorry for not answering as soon as I can. I'm very sorry.

TO MINE: Please answer your calls, I'm very worried now.

I waited for seconds which turned into minutes but still no reply.

Soon we arrived at our destination and I walked to her dorm to find her. I knew her dorm number and the floor it was but I have never been there before.

She told me those little details but refused to come to see her because she didn't want people to know who she was.

I reached the floor where her dorm was and made my way to her dorm. I kept reading the dorm number on the door until I reached hers.

I hope things are really fine and I am just worried for no reason. I knocked on the dorm and it opened but it wasn't Sophia that opened it, it was her friend, the one she keeps telling me off and the one whose a picture I've just seen.

She had a bag pack on her shoulder and she looked stressed.

"Annabella right?" I asked and she nodded her head.

"I've been trying to reach you all day," she said, coming out of the dorm.

"You have been? Why?" I asked, worried.

"I rushed Annabella to the hospital earlier today," she informed me and I felt as if my whole world was about to fall.
