I called as soon as the power came back on. She was standing here a minute ago before the power went off so where did she go to?
I came down from the podium.
"Did you see Sophia?" I asked Sarah.
"No. She was standing on the podium with you some minutes ago. Did you leave or what?" Sarah asked.
Sophia parents approached me with Annabella.
"What's wrong?" they asked me.
Maybe she went to the bathroom urgently, I thought to myself before going to the bathroom to look for her after excusing myself.
Sarah and Anna followed behind me. I searched the bathroom but couldn't find her. Where could she be?
I went back to the hall but she wasn't here. "What happened?" My father in law asked.
"It's Sophia. She was standing with me on the Podium for a few minutes only to see that she was gone," I explained.
I was suddenly worried that she should be around. Maybe I was being too worried because she just informed me that she was pregnant but where could she have gone?
"Maybe she's outside. Let me go and check," my father in law said before leaving us.
I searched around with my eyes, hoping to see that she was nowhere to be seen.
My father in law returned after some minutes and Sophia wasn't by his side.
"She's not outside. She was standing close to you before the power went out so where could she have gone in such a short period?" Annabella remarked.
I don't know myself because If I did, I would not be here.
I began to worry as I couldn't see her. It's her birthday and she should've been here so her disappearing felt so strange to me.
"Sophia!" I called out as I looked around for her.
If this was a prank of hers, she should end it already because it is starting to drive me insane and I do not have the heart for it.
"Have you seen her!" Sarah asked when we met while in the process of finding Sophia.
"No," I shook my head.
"Why do I have a terrible feeling about this?" Sarah muttered.
"I'm also having terrible feelings about this. I will have to check the CCTV cameras to see where she went. Maybe I might get something there." I said remembering the CCTV camera that was in the hall.
"That's true," Sarah said.
On the way to the cctv room, I came across Jessica.
"Hi. I'm so sorry that I am late. I had to do something on the way and went back. Where is Sophia? I want to wish her a happy birthday and also this is my gift," she said, revealing the present wrapped in her hands.
I do not know what to tell her. How do I tell her that I cannot find Sophia so she'd have to wait until we do.
"Is there a problem?" She asked.
"Not really. You can go in. I will meet you there with Sophia," I informed her, wanting to be optimistic that Sophia was around and she was just hiding from us.
"Okay." She said before walking away.
Sarah and I made our way to the Cctv room.
"What! How come its blank? She was standing here and then it went blank and that's it?" I was extremely surprised by what I was seeing on the footage.
Sophia was standing beside me and then it went blank afterwards. Something wasn't right and I didn't need to think much about it.
I'm involved with the police. Sophia can't just disappear or hide knowing it's her big day and it would only create unnecessary drama.
"Something is not right," Sarah mumbled beside me.
"How come there is no footage afterwards? Did someone perhaps delete it because it's showing what happened after the lights came up next," the head of them said.
It was obvious that someone tampered with the footage. Where is my wife and what has happened to her!
She's pregnant for crying out loud. I ran my finger through my hair, not knowing what to do right now.
"I want the CCTV footage. Something happened when the power went out and if I do not get the clip before tomorrow, I promise you all that you will regret not being and to," I earned sternly before walking out of the room.
"Do you think something Might have happened to her or someone took her?" Sarah said.
Who would have taken her? Why would they take her and what's their purpose? I needed that footage to know why it happened because I won't be letting anyone go free if I am unable to find out where my wife tonight.
"What happened? Any news about her yet?" Sophia's mother asked.
"Mom, dad, I think something happened to Sophia" Sarah revealed to her parents and aloud gasped commences.
"What do you mean by that? What could have possibly happened to her and on her birthday too? How and when did it happen? Someone please enlighten me," her mother questioned.
" I do not know but one thing is certain and that is when the power went out, something happened and I'm such a good for leaving her when I should have been by her side," I scolded myself.
Maybe if I had been with her, this would not have happened.
I didn't hear any struggle and I had not moved very far away from her.
"Fuck!" I cursed.
"Sir!" I heard someone call and I turned to the direction I had heard the voice.
"Thankfully we have to units and we checked. We have gotten the clip of what happened during the power out," the man informed Metz
I followed behind him with haste.
"The person deleted the clips here not knowing them at there is another room too," the head of them said.
He played the footage and I began to watch. Something did happen during the power out. Someone dragged Sophia away.
"Oh my goodness!" It was Sophia's mother that had said that.
"Who took my baby? Why do they want her?" She said.
"Can you please zoom it. I want to see the face of the men. Those who took my wife will pay and I will make sure to ruin them!" I deadpanned.
One thing was certain, only those who knew us could have some this as the tags were given to certain people.
Who kidnapped Sophia? What do they want from her and why haven't they contacted me to tell me of their demands.
The pit of my stomach was boiling with anger and i clenched my fish to control it.
