SOPHIA CASTILLO
I entered our room to see Adrian getting dressed.
He had just a sweatpant on and he was about to wear the matching top for it. I felt a little bad for how I had spoken to him today.
"Are you going out?" I asked because he doesn't wear a shirt inside the room. He is always shirtless.
He tilted his head to look at me. "No, remember I told you that some people I knew in the past are coming over? I'm just going to the garden to meet them," he replied before looking away.
There was something about his voice that didn't sit well with me. It sounded low and I felt as if he was hurt too.
"Oh. That's true," I muttered.
I expected him to say something but he doesn't say anything. I was angry earlier but now I'm sad and if I don't speak to him knowing that I hurt his feelings earlier, I'd feel bad.
"Baby," I called, walking closer to him.
"Huh," he replied, putting on his sweatshirt.
I wrapped my arms around him from behind.
"I'm sorry," I whispered, hugging him tightly with my head resting on his back.
He didn't say anything for a while. "I'm not mad at you," he replied, slowly removing my arms from around him.
He turned so that he could be facing me. I blinked my eyes, preventing the tears that threatened to slip down my cheek.
"What happened?" He asked in a whisper, holding gaze with me.
"How close are you to Jessica?" I asked, not wanting to relent anymore as it would only make me angrier and create issues between us.
"Jessie?" He called, staring at me frantically as if he doesn't understand me.
I exhaled deeply. "Let me rephrase. How close are you to Jessica when you guys were younger? Was there a possible relationship between the both of you or not?" I asked, holding my gaze with him although I was extremely nervous.
"A possible relationship? Are you asking if we had a relationship in the past?" He asked.
"Yes." I nodded my head.
"No. Not at all," he replied.
"You didn't have a crush on her or you didn't have any feelings for her other than just friendship?" I questioned nervously.
I was nervous about his reply. What if he did? What would I do? It's all in the past anyway so why does it matter? I asked myself mentally while waiting for his reply.
"Why are you asking? Did you hear something?" He questioned.
"Just answer the question," I demanded in a firm tone.
"It's all in the past so why does it matter? I did like her as a teenager but it was when I was 13, almost fourteen. She was nice to me then and I liked her. Nothing ever went further between us and the most we did was a kiss. It wasn't even a kiss but a perk on the lips on my fourteenth birthday," he explained.
I wasn't supposed to be angry right? He crushed on her and that's it and I was just torturing myself with something of the past.
For crying out loud, I am his wife! I screamed mentally to myself. I feel so immature for what I had done and I couldn't look him in the eyes.
He curled his index finger under my chin, lifting my face so that our eyes would meet.
"Was that why you were angry? What did you hear?" He asked.
"Nothing. I don't know. I was just...." I trailed off taking a deep breath.
"The other day, you told me you wanted to help Jessica with something but you didn't tell me what it was," I said, referring to our last text.
"Oh, was that where all of this started from?" He chuckled and I frowned at him.
"Sorry, my bad. I didn't know you could be this jealous," he caressed my cheek and I slapped his hand slightly.
"It's cute. I love this side of you. And that day, I was helping her go get her cat. She got a cat over there but she gave it out before coming back and that's it," he clarified.
"Oh," I muttered.
"Yes, dear. That's it and it's funny how you began to think about a lot of things. I love you, u Sophia. I can say that and never get exhausted. I love you with all my heart and you are the only woman I ever felt this way for. No other woman," he said, staring into my eyes as if he wanted me to feel it.
"I love you too. I'm sorry for how I acted and the way I spoke to you. I didn't mean to make you feel bad or bring back the past and I'm very sorry," I told him.
He pulled me closer and wrapped his arms around me. "It's fine. I wasn't expecting you to flare up that way thought but I can never be angry with you for long," he told me and I heaved a sigh of relief.
"I love you," he replied.
"I promise to never have a situation like this happen again. If you have any questions, just ask me and that's it," he assured me and I nodded my head.
"How were you able to contact your friends that are in the garden? I thought you lost contact with everyone," I asked.
"I didn't. Jessie did and she asked if they could come over here and I said yes to it but I told her I'd have to inform you first," he explained.
"Okay. Let me quickly freshen up, I'd join you guys later," I told him.
"I could wait here for you and we will go together," he suggested and I shook my head.
"You do not have to do that. They are waiting for you and I have already taken some time. Just go. I'd join you as soon as possible," I told him.
He leaned down and kissed me on my lips before leaving me to carry on. I felt a huge amount of relief after talking things out with him.
I was just bothering myself when I know that he loves me and he has never given me a reason to doubt that.
I took my bath and went to join them afterward
"Hello," I waved at everyone before going to sit beside Adrian.
"Hello," they all replied.
"Your wife?" They asked and Adrian nodded his head.
"Oh, my gracious goodness. You are beautiful," one of them with long curly hair complimented and I blushed.
"Thank you," I replied.
"Adrian she's beautiful. You are very lucky to have her by your side," another male complimented.
"Yes. We are both lucky to have one another," Adrian interjected.
"Thank you," I replied.
"Of course, you would be thankful," Adrian snickered.
They all introduced themselves to me and I did the same. There were four males and two females excluding Jessica.
Adrian served some food to me and I began to eat. I said nothing to anyone as they conversed with one another.
They were mostly talking about their days while away from one another and I listened and ate at the same time.
"Funny as time flies. I remember the time Adrian snuck into Jessica's room in the middle of the night and was considered a thief trying to break in, before realizing he was the one," The guy with the curly hair said and they all burst into a fit of laughter.
What did I just hear? Adrian did such?
"Oh stop it. That's the past, don't remind me," Jessica said and I glanced at Adrian shortly.
He didn't tell me this. Wow, there must be so many stories that I am yet to hear.
"I remember that vividly. What were you thinking, Adrian?" The other guy said.
"He was very smitten by Jessie. He always picked flowers all the time to give her," one of the females with red hair said.
Wow. I gulped the food in my throat in one go. This is getting much more interesting than I expected. The little seconds I stared at Jessica, she seemed to be blushing, enjoying the conversation.
"Jessie didn't like him then," another female replied. She has red hair too but with freckles peppered all over her nose.
"She considered him her younger brother but when he left for holiday and came back, she told me he seemed to have grown and looked good. I mean I confirmed it then," the girl that spoke first said.
"I did ship them," the first guy that complimented me said.
"That's enough," Adrian spoke.
"That's a very long time and I was just a growing teenager. I wasn't fourteen then. I was young and she was a beautiful girl who always helped me and was nice to me so it was normal. Now that I think about it, I do not think it was more than infatuation," Adrian said and they all chuckled.
"That's true. I mean being a teenager means a lot but I did think you and Jessi would go a long way. You both grew up together and we're always spending time together too," the red-haired girl with freckles said.
"That's right. I also imagined such," Adrian laughed and I frowned.
"You imagined getting married to her?" I asked.
"Yes. That was just some little boy's dream but it didn't last," he replied.
"How have you been Henry? It has been a very long time," Adrian said.
"I'm very fine. It's great to see you after a long time, Adrian. You suddenly cut everyone off after the death of your parents and everyone just went their separate ways," Henry replied.
"Sweetheart, Henry here was my closest buddy back then," he introduced and I nodded my head.
"You both look very good together," Henry complimented and I smiled.
"Thank you guys for coming. It's such an honor to have you guys here. I mean this gathering. Today feels like fifteen years ago," Jessica said.
"We were kids then but now we are all grown. Let's toast to that," Henry suggested.
We all raised our glasses and toast.
"Cheers!" We said simultaneously before drinking the content in our glass.
