Paige narrates:
The internship at Ethan's company is fantastic, lunch and breakfast with Sarah, there are even some days of the week that we get together with Riley who has the same schedule as us.
My friend has met a guy who works at Mason's company, and she is crazy about him, the truth is that she hasn't seen a guy before, one or two one-night stands, but nothing serious. Sarah is just as surprised as I am, I never imagined seeing my friend like this.
She always laughed at us for being in love and married, I think she will be with this guy in no time.
She tells us how she brings him details to the office, that Mason has given her some work to do with him for the next week and that makes her very nervous. For that reason, we reigned us in like seals with epilepsy with Sarah, which Riley didn't like very much, although later she ended up laughing with us anyway. Sarah as always says crazy things about how you can fuck in the office while people are outside, she says it's very exciting to do it like that.
“Just remind me to disinfect everything before entering Ethan's office, please," I say with a jokingly horrified voice.
"Don't be silly, we'll do that in the moment. I'll just mention it to Riley so she can try what I'm telling her. The feeling of getting caught makes everything more intense, doing something forbidden is exquisite," Sarah comments, kissing the tips of her fingers in a French manner.
"I won't do something like that, at least not for now. I have to maintain some kind of relationship with him. I'm not going to let him have sex with me at the office without any commitment. Imagine if my name starts circulating as the easy one in the company. I might be easy, but I won't be that way in my workplace. I have an image to uphold," Riley responds calmly.
Sarah bursts into laughter, as do I. The things that my friend comes up with, well, either of them really. They're both equally crazy. I think they've rubbed off on me a bit. I've imagined doing something like that at the office, but since I work for Ethan, I can't afford to do such a thing.
Mason surprises me at closing time, coming to pick me up for a dinner date. I can't say it's something he never does because whenever he can, he invites me to dinner, and I decline, telling him I prefer to eat at home. With all the social and corporate events, I have enough pretending to do in terms of our relationship. He's cunning, my husband. He arrives without warning, and it will look very bad if I refuse to go out to dinner, especially when he comes with Ethan to my office, both of them chatting happily. I have no choice but to greet Ethan with a kiss and smile as if I'm in love.
"Thank you, my love, for coming by surprise," I say, trying to hint at something.
"My beautiful love, I'm here to pick you up for dinner. We need some time for ourselves. I've had a lot of work, and so have you," Mason says, taking hold of my waist.
"This was my idea, I confess. You two need to go out more. See you tomorrow, lovebirds," Ethan says, laughing, as he exits the room I use as my office.
Once we're alone, I try to pull away from him, but he doesn't allow it. I look at him with a furrowed brow, hoping he'll let go of me, and I say through gritted teeth,
"What do you think you're doing? We're alone, there's no reason for you to keep holding onto my waist."
"You know, you look very cute when you're angry and trying to hide it. Just like now," he whispers the last part in my ear.
"Stop doing that, let go of me, and let's go to dinner," I protest, annoyed.
"Let's go, my love," he says, laughing.
"Very funny," I say, very serious. "Idiot," I mutter more to myself than to him.
"I heard that," he says in my ear, startling me as we walk toward the elevator.
"Let's just go already," I say, almost pleading.
As we enter the elevator, I contemplate forcefully removing his hand from my waist. However, a colleague from the office enters the elevator, coincidentally taking the same one as us. I curse silently to myself.
"Today was intense," my coworker says, whose name I don't even remember.
"Yes, finally going home," I respond with a smile.
"Yeah, although it would be nice to grab a drink before heading home, don't you think?" he asks, getting closer to me.
The poor guy hasn't noticed Mason's hand on my waist. Although, from the outside, it's not noticeable since I positioned myself in front of him, hiding his hand.
"How about we go another day? I can't today, I already have plans," I reply with a smile.
"Oh, I see. Sure, another day then. I'd be happy to invite you for a drink after work," he says, excitedly.
"I don't think that's a good idea. I'm very possessive when it comes to inviting my wife out, especially with the intentions you have. Don't try to deny them, I saw the way you were looking at her. Stay away from her, or you'll have problems with me, and I don't advise it," Mason says, speaking with an intimidating tone.
The poor guy nods, unable to say anything due to the fear he feels when faced with such an intimidating figure, being stared at with a murderous expression. I elbow Mason to lower his intensity. I wouldn't make a scene of jealousy like that; he's crossing the line.
"Don't be like that, you're scaring him," I say, serious.
"I'm fine. I thought it's my floor," he says, exiting the elevator without checking which floor we're on.
"He was so scared that if the doors had opened between floors, he would have jumped into the void without thinking, lol," Mason says, laughing.
"That wasn't funny at all. You don't have to create scenes like that. I'm not foolish enough to have something with one of Ethan's employees. Besides, I'm not looking for that right now," I clarify, serious and a bit annoyed.
"Don't be mad. It was funny to see the guy almost wet his pants," he replies, holding back his laughter.
"I don't understand what that scene came to, he didn't even know you were my husband" I say touching my forehead with my fingers.
"I didn't like the way he looked at you going up the elevator, but you are very good and you never see the evil in them, I could have devoured you with my eyes if I could, I just wanted to make it clear to him that you have a husband so he won't see you like that again "replies my husband lifting his shoulders.
