Love after Divorce

36: Jealousy?

Ch. 36 / 127 Apr 15, 2026

Mason narrates:

I have to admit I didn't like that at all, that it's normal to have sex because our bodies are asking for it. Just imagining Paige with another man bothers me, not as a man, it's like imagining my younger sister having sex, kind of gross.

Of course, if you repeat that to yourself you might believe it.

I couldn't get that "Don't wait for me early at home" out of my mind I'm sure he's not going out with the girls, Ethan always visits me when they go out, so he's not left alone, he's too scared to do that.

After much thought I decide to go get her from the company, I see her get in her car and then go to a hotel, what am I supposed to be doing? I don't have to be watching what she does, she is free to have sex with whomever she wants, we don't have a real marriage.

Just like you should be with a Peyton who must be anxious to see you and ask for more than what happened at the office.

I stay in the car waiting for my wife, what I see leaves me speechless, what is Paige doing dressed like that and wearing glasses? No matter how hard I try not to look like her, I would recognize her anywhere and everywhere.

I follow her and she enters a bar, smiling I enter behind her, I see her look around and send her a WhatsApp message that leaves her more than amazed, I approach her body and tell her that I recognize her anyway.

My cell phone rings at that moment, however, I end the call without seeing who it was.

"What are you doing here? How did you find me?" she asks nervously.

"Just a coincidence seeing you enter. I didn't know you came here. I guess we're here for the same thing," I reply with a smile.

She doesn't smile; instead, she looks angry.

"At least I try not to be recognized, unlike you, who doesn't care about preserving my image as your wife. What a husband I have," she says angrily.

"It's not like that. I just came to clear my mind, not to seek what you clearly are seeking," I reproach.

"Well, you see, you're not the only one with needs," she replies, shrugging off what I said.

"That's apparent," is all I can respond.

A guy approaches, and she smiles at him. Inside, I want to punch him. This guy looks at me and asks Paige, "Is this idiot bothering you?" My eyes widen at the question.

"I'm not bothering her," I start to say.

"Not for now, but thanks. In that case, I'll let you know," Paige replies flirtatiously, a side of her I didn't know.

I'm stunned by what my wife said and how she said it. We're alone again, and she keeps that smirk on her face while I'm furious.

"I don't find what happened funny at all. In fact, I think we should go home," I tell her seriously.

"Excuse me? You mean, you think you should go home. I'm not leaving with you. You know what I came here for, and I won't leave without getting it. You can go back to the girl from your office, and we can both have a wonderful night. Isn't my idea great?" she comments, smiling.

"Are you serious?" I ask, doubting her.

"Why wouldn't I be?" she replies with another question.

"I'm not going to respond to that. If that's what you want, fine. See you at home," I respond, annoyed, and I leave the place.

Why the hell am I angry? I might as well take advantage of this night to go with Peyton. I don't have to worry about my wife; she'll be happily doing the same thing as me.

I reach for my cell phone and call Peyton, she is upset about the wait, and I tell her I'm on my way, which surprises her because normally I would go home because of the time. That takes the edge off and I'm on my way to the best night I've had in a long time.

I arrive totally frustrated at Peyton's, I walk into the room, and she is waiting for me in beautiful and very sexy lingerie, which brings my bad mood down considerably. She is lying on the bed with her hands tied above her head, this woman sure knows how to drive me crazy just by looking at her.

As I make my way to the bed I undress, I'm not going to think about Paige anymore, now I'm just going to enjoy the surprise of my beautiful girl, I'm going to forget about everything else.

As I predicted the night was fantastic. I finally slept over here; I don't think my wife will ever sleep at home. Besides, it was the best night of my life. Peyton is still asleep next to me, I look at her and she looks beautiful, I don't know how a woman like her noticed me. I say I have my thing, but she is on another level, she is the most beautiful in the universe in my eyes.

I look at the time and realize that I have to leave to go change clothes so I don't go to the office with the same as yesterday, that will make more than one person start rumors, especially my secretary.

Now I remember that I must talk to her, since she saw Peyton leave after Riley and she must have understood what happened in my office, although I am sure she will keep silent so as not to lose her job. She has been working for me for many years, at least I think so.

I kiss Peyton on the forehead, she stirs from the touch, looks at me sleepily and smiles exhausted.

"I have to go to the company, but I'll stop by the house for some clothes first," I explain, kissing her hair.

"I think I'll go back to sleep before learning to walk again," she says, yawning.

"Rest, my love. You can talk to me when you have energy," I say, getting up.

I hear her nod with a groan, and I head home. When I arrive, I see my wife's car parked in the garage, which means she got home before me.

I go straight to the room I occupy, take a shower, and when I come down for a quick breakfast, I find Paige sitting alone, having breakfast.

"Good morning," I say, smiling just to let her know I had an excellent night.

"Good morning," she replies, smiling just like me.

It annoys me that she's happy. That means she enjoyed the previous night.

What the hell do you expect? Do you want me to mourn for you? Don't be foolish. It's fine what she did. After all, you did the same.

Damn conscience, keep quiet. I tell myself, frustrated. I have a cup of coffee without any appetite for anything else, at least for now. I'll eat something at the office later. Meanwhile, Paige is eating like crazy. I had never seen her eat breakfast like that. She must be really hungry.

I bite my tongue to avoid making any comments. I finish the coffee, get up, look at her, and say without knowing why,

"I'm not sure what time I'll be back today. I have a lot of work." She doesn't reply with words, just a "mmmm" as acknowledgment. I shake my head and leave for work. I need to breathe and figure out why I said I wouldn't be back early because of work. What's wrong with me? Sometimes I don't even understand myself.

I arrive at the office, and I don't have to say anything to my secretary. When she sees me, she gestures to lock her lips and I understand she's referring to what happened yesterday. I nod and thank her.

The rest of the day is normal, but I keep thinking about my mood swings when it comes to Paige.

It must be from not having had a little sister and that I have a hard time understanding that she knows what she's doing, she's not a child. I have to get that into my head, so I don't have to worry about her adventures anymore. If I have them, she can have them too.
