His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 165

Ch. 165 / 264 Apr 07, 2026

Connor and Annette left the bar together. Connor drove Annette to the entrance of the shopping mall in person.

After the car stopped, he looked around but did not find Austin.

  "Where is he?" Connor asked.

"He has to drive from the apartment. It is a bit far away."

Annette said as she unbuckled her seat belt and was about to get out of the car.

Connor pulled her and said unhappily, "Do you have to see him?"

Annette asked, "Do you have a problem with it?"

"You know, I hate him very much." Connor looked displeased.

Annette shrugged. "But he is my brother and the only one who helped me when I was bullied in the Black Thorn Pack."

Although it was the truth, for some reason, Connor felt uncomfortable about the way Austin looked at Annette.

The way Austin treated Jessica was more like a brother.

However, Annette was different. The relationship between Austin and her was much more than that.

Connor frowned and wondered if he was overthinking.

"I'll wait for you at the bar. Call me when you go back. I'll pick you up," Connor urged worriedly.

"Maybe Austin will send me back," Annette said. "Have a good chat with Harrison. You have not seen each other for a long time."

She pulled the door open and got out of the car. "Go back quickly. Don't make Harrison wait."

Annette closed the door and walked away. Connor started the car and turned around.

Soon, he stepped on the brake and turned to look at Annette, who was standing at the entrance of the shopping mall not far away.

More than ten minutes later, Austin ran to Annette from the right side of the parking lot.

Annette was focusing on her phone and did not notice Austin's arrival.

Before she saw the shadow in front of her, Austin leaned over and held her tightly.

Looking at the scene, Connor gritted his teeth and clenched the steering.

In his eyes, Austin was not someone who would hold his family so warmly.

Connor took out his phone angrily and dialed Annette's number.

Annette was stunned by Austin's hug. She patted his arm and said, "Austin, let go. I can't breathe."

"I haven't seen you for so many days. I miss you very much." Austin's tone was full of emotion.

  Just then, Annette's phone rang.

  "I've got a phone call."

Austin finally let go of her.

Annette took out her phone from her bag and found that it was a call from Connor. She glanced at Austin.

Austin was also looking at her phone. Fortunately, she gave Connor a special remark. Other than herself, no one knew who it was.

She turned around, took several steps away, and picked up the phone.

"I forgot to tell you not to hold Austin. There are surveillance cameras in the shopping mall. If I know that he takes advantage of you, you are not allowed to see him alone in the future. Do you hear me?"

Annette frowned and looked at the surveillance camera at the entrance of the shopping mall. She frowned and whispered, "Stop messing around."

"I won't listen to you. No one asks you to meet Austin."

Annette sighed. Connor was such a suspicious man.

She said in a low voice, "Forget it. Austin is my brother."

"If you don't promise me, I'll go back to pick you up now."

  "No. I'll listen to you."

Annette did not want to see Connor and Austin fighting each other anymore.

Hanging up the phone, Annette walked back to Austin and smiled at him.

Austin frowned and looked at her for a moment before asking hesitantly, "Is it Connor?"

Annette did not want to lie. She nodded.

  "What does he want?"

Annette said, "Nothing. It's just a call."

  "Are you his mate already?"

Annette blushed slightly. She shook her head and denied it. "Not yet."

"Not yet? So you plan to be his mate?"

Annette thought for a moment and said, "I think he is a good man."

"Annette, you can't judge others just from their appearances. Connor is not from the same world as you. You are kind and easy to trust people, while Connor is good at scheming. He saw through what kind of person you are, so he could control you."

Annette said calmly, "Austin, I am a grown woman. I can tell good from bad."

"But you have to know that it's easy for girls to be meddle-headed in love. As your brother, I can't let you go the wrong way. Connor hates the Black Thorn Pack. How can you be sure that he is not using you? Annette, anyone in the Black Thorn Pack can be hurt, but you can't. You didn't do anything wrong. I can't watch you get hurt. Do you understand?"

Annette was grateful to Austin. However, there were some things that she couldn't control.

Could she control her affection for Connor? No.

After spending time with him for so long, she felt that she could trust Connor.

Connor treated her sincerely, so Annette was willing to let her guard down.

Although she didn't say it out loud, she couldn't leave Connor anymore.

Seeing that Annette was distracted, Austin held her shoulders with both hands and said, "Ann, you won't think that I will harm you, right?"

"Of course not. I just think that it is my personal issue, and I can handle it myself."

"It also concerns the Black Thorn Pack and the Blood Moon Pack."

Annette asked, "But you want Jessica to be Connor's mate."

  "You're different from Jessica."

"I know I am different from her. Jessica is the daughter of the Alpha of the Black Thorn Pack. What about me? I'm nothing."

"Annette, you know that's not what I meant. Jessica has been spoiled since she was young. Because of her personality, she won't care much about Connor's actions. Moreover, I don't agree with Jessica marrying Connor. It is her idea. But you are different. Once Connor betrays you, it will be a fatal blow to you. Aren't you afraid of being hurt? At least, I am. You are my beloved sister, and I can't bear to see you being hurt by the Blood Moon Pack."

Annette frowned and did not know what to say.

"Ann, I'm doing this for your good. No one in this world loves you more than I do. Promise me that you won't accept Connor so easily, even if you have decided to be his mate. Is it okay?"

Annette was silent for a moment and then nodded.

She couldn't explain something clearly to Austin.

Maybe all the brothers would feel that no man was worthy of their sisters. It was common.

Annette could only let Austin rest assured. Whether she could control her heart or not was not up to her.

As she nodded, Austin let out a sigh of relief.

He knew that he had to make a decision as soon as possible. He couldn't wait any longer for things with Annette.
