His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 188

Ch. 188 / 264 Apr 07, 2026

When they got off work in the afternoon, Annette and Sara went down from the office building.

Just as they left the office, more than a dozen reporters swarmed over.

They held their microphones and surrounded Annette.

"Hello, Ms. Hall. Are you Mr. Norman's wife?"

"Ms. Hall, in the previous news, was it you the woman who was covered by Mr. Norman's clothes?"

"Can you tell us about your relationship with Mr. Norman?"

Annette took a few steps back.

Sara stepped forward to block Annette behind her. She said to the reporters, "I'm sorry, everyone. You are at a university. Annette doesn't accept any interviews. Please leave now."

With that, Sara turned around and pushed Annette. She wanted to squeeze out of the crowd and took Annette back to the office.

However, they were surrounded and couldn't move at all.

Just as they were at a loss, a reporter was dragged away, and a man forced his way into the crowd.

Everyone saw him walk to Annette, pull Annette's wrist, and leave quickly.

Only when the reporters chased after the car did Sara react. She exclaimed in her mind, 'Heavens! If I was not mistaken, the man was Austin, the current president of the Fisher Group.'

  Austin drove fast.

In less than fifteen minutes, he broke away from the reporter's car that followed him.

Annette kept looking back nervously until there was no car behind her. Only then did she feel a little more at ease.

She turned to Austin and said, "Austin, thank you. Otherwise, I would be in trouble today."

Austin's expression was grave, and he did not respond.

Looking at his expression, Annette thought, 'Damn.' She said, "Austin, I..."

"Don't talk. I don't want to hear anything right now."

Annette noticed that the scenery outside was unfamiliar. She asked, "Austin, where are you taking me?"

Austin did not say a word.

Annette was anxious. "Stop at the gas station over there. Let's talk."

Austin remained silent with a cold expression.

Just as Annette was thinking about what to do, her phone rang.

She took her phone out of her bag. Seeing that it was Connor, she quickly picked it up.

However, before she could say a word, Austin snatched the phone away.

He was somewhat emotional when he took the phone, so the car turned to the roadside. Quickly, he adjusted the steering wheel and drove back in the right direction.

Austin hung up the phone directly. He turned it off and put the phone into his pocket.

Annette was flustered and asked, "Austin, what are you doing?"

Austin roared, "If you don't want to die with me on the highway, shut your mouth!"

Annette fell silent and put her hands on her belly subconsciously.

She didn't want to die, nor did she want her child to die.

She sat in the passenger seat in anger and stopped talking to Austin.

Two hours later, Austin parked the car in front of a villa in the suburbs.

He got out of the car. He walked to the door of the passenger seat and opened it.

Annette looked up at him and was a little worried. "Where are we?"

  "Get out of the car."

After Austin said that, he turned around and walked into the villa.

Annette hesitated for a moment and followed him in.

There was no one in the villa, but it was surprisingly clean.

Austin pulled off his tie and threw it on the cabinet by the door. He walked in and sat casually on the sofa in the living room.

Annette walked to the coffee table and sat opposite him.

"Austin, I know you were angry after seeing the news. There is a grudge between the Black Thorn Pack and the Blood Moon Pack. Now, the Fisher Group is in difficulty because of the Norman Group. I know all of them. However, I am not a member of the Black Thorn Pack, and I hold no grudge against Connor."

Austin said in a cold voice, "So, do you think you did the right thing?"

Annette lowered her eyes. After a moment of hesitation, she nodded and said, "Connor is the person who treats me the best."

"He treats you well? You are so stupid. Haven't you figured it out yet? As far as I know, you have been a tutor for several months in the Blood Moon Pack. Before that, Connor didn't know that you were Lance's daughter, so he never paid any attention to you. The relationship between you and him started to get close after he knew that you were my sister. Do you understand?"

Annette recalled carefully after Austin's words.

Connor started to pursue her after she had a one-night stand with him.

The next day, Connor saw her with Austin, and he indeed misunderstood her relationship with Austin at the beginning.

"Annette, I have told you many times to keep a distance from him. Why didn't you listen to me? Do you know that he put you at a dead end?"

Annette shook her head and refused to listen to those negative comments.

"Austin, things are not as bad as you think."

"Not bad? Tell me, if others knew that you were Lance's illegitimate daughter, what would they say? It is well known that Connor is targeting the Fisher Group. Why did he choose you? Do you think you are his only choice? Annette, except me, no man in this world will treat you sincerely. Are you not hurt enough?"

"Enough," Annette turned around and said with her back to Austin, "It is my relationship. Even if I get hurt in the end, I will bear the consequences of my choice."

"How are you going to bear the consequences? Annette, you are so stubborn."

Annette clenched her fists and said, "You are good to me, and I am grateful to you. But this is not the reason for you to intervene in my life. I don't like my life being manipulated."

Austin looked at Annette's back and did not speak.

Annette hesitated for a few seconds. She wanted to turn and leave.

Just as she moved, Austin rushed over and held her in his arms.

  Annette was stunned.

"Leave him. He is the greatest enemy to me. Annette, I don't want to be your enemy. Do you understand?"

  Annette sighed.

She raised her hand and wanted to push Austin away.

However, Austin held her even tighter.

Annette said resignedly, "Let go of me. I can't breathe."

  "Annette, promise me."

"I can't promise you," Annette gave up struggling. She stood firmly and said in a soft voice, "I am his mate."

"What's so special about Connor? Why are you willing to be self-abandoned?"

Annette said unhappily, "Let go of me."

Sensing her anger, Austin slowly let go.

Annette took two steps back and kept a distance from him.

She took a deep breath and said, "I know how much you hate him and the Blood Moon Pack, but the conflicts between the Black Thorn Pack and the Blood Moon Pack have nothing to do with me. I hate the Black Thorn Pack. I am eager to see it fall apart and Lance, Leslie, and Jessica lose everything. So, for me, being with Connor is not self-deprecation but my good fortune."

With that, Annette turned and walked out.

Austin stood in place. As Annette was about to open the door, he said coldly, "Annette, don't waste your energy. You can't leave."
