Connor laughed proudly. "That's simple. Amanda has evidence of Thea having an affair with Melvin back then. In addition, I asked Hari to find evidence of her taking Jessica's money. With those, does Thea still have another choice?"
A while later, Connor added, "And don't forget that it was me who told Hari to do those things."
Annette found it funny. She knew that Connor worked so hard for her.
Anyway, Jessica's accusation had almost been resolved, although not everyone would believe the news.
Not long after she hung up the phone, Annette received Catherine's thanks.
"Annette, thank you for asking Mr. Norman to arrange the job for me."
Annette didn't expect Connor to arrange everything that afternoon. She was touched.
An hour later, Connor came back.
Dwayne hurried to greet him.
"Alpha Connor, you are back."
"Where is Annette?"
"Ms. Hall is in the kitchen."
Connor frowned and asked, "What is she doing in the kitchen?"
"Ms. Hall said she wanted to prepare dinner for you in person. We all tried to persuade her, but we failed."
Connor handed the coat to Dwayne. He walked to the kitchen, pushed the door open, and walked in.
Annette wore a smile as she spoke to him, "You're back."
Connor said unhappily, "Why are you in the kitchen?"
Seeing that he was a little angry, Annette said hurriedly, "Didn't I cook in the kitchen before? I didn't see you angry back then."
"You are pregnant now. You should lie down and rest."
Annette looked at him speechlessly. Did he need to be so cautious?
Connor turned and left the kitchen.
Annette followed him out.
Connor said to Dwayne, "There will be no Ms. Hall in the future. Only Mrs. Norman. Remember it."
"OK."
Annette nodded at Dwayne in embarrassment and followed Connor upstairs.
After entering the bedroom, she closed the door. She looked at Connor and said, "What happened to you today? Why are you so angry?"
Connor glanced at her unhappily and said, "Don't go into the kitchen again in the future."
Just as Annette was about to speak, Connor stepped forward and kissed her.
After a while, he let go of her and said proudly, "Go ahead."
Annette raised her hand to cover her lips.
She thought Connor was so unreasonable.
"I went to the kitchen to cook dinner for you. Thank you for helping me fight back Jessica and arrange a job for Catherine."
Connor rubbed her head lovingly.
"Well, all I need is a kiss from you."
When the dinner was ready, Dwayne went upstairs to inform Connor and Annette.
Before they finished dinner, Dwayne received a call.
Soon, he came back and said to Connor, "Alpha Connor, Ms. Grace is back."
Annette looked up at Connor.
Connor said with an indifferent expression, "Why did she come back?"
Dwayne turned to Annette and said worriedly, "I don't know either. Ms. Grace didn't say anything."
Connor put down the fork unhappily.
At that moment, Alina walked in.
Alina smiled, "You are having dinner now. It seemed that I came at the right time."
Connor said indifferently, "Don't you have any chefs at home?"
Alina replied awkwardly, "Connor, you don't have to be so harsh with your words."
Annette said to Dwayne immediately, "Dwayne, prepare a set of tableware for Ms. Grace."
Just as Dwayne was about to leave, Alina said, "It's OK. Since someone doesn't welcome me, I won't be joining them. Connor, come out for a moment. I have something to tell you."
She turned around and walked out.
Connor said coldly, "What do you want to talk about? Just talk here."
Alina frowned and turned to look at him. She said with disappointment, "I came back today because Lucas asked me to deliver a message for him. I don't want to hurt anyone. Are you sure you want me to talk here?"
Connor did not move. Seeing that they were in a deadlock, Annette said, "Since Ms. Grace is here, you should go out with her for a while."
Connor patted Annette's hand to reassure her. "Enjoy the food. I'll be back in a minute."
Annette smiled at him.
Alina and Connor left.
Annette lowered her eyes.
Dwayne stepped forward and said, "Don't worry. Alpha Connor will protect you."
Annette smiled at Dwayne and was grateful for his comfort.
Suddenly, her phone rang. She took it out and looked at the caller ID.
It was Austin. She hung up without hesitation.
After what happened last night, Annette was disappointed with Austin.
Austin stopped calling her.
Instead, he texted Annette.
"Ann, I'm sorry. I know that you are still mad at me, but I never regret it. I did that for your good. Hope you'll calm down soon. If you are no longer mad, come and meet me. I have something to tell you."
Annette did not reply.
Her attention was all on Connor, who was outside talking with Alina.
She wanted to know what Connor and Alina were talking about.
At the thought of that, she felt that the steak was not delicious anymore.
Alina walked to the backyard and sat down.
It was winter, and it was cold in the evening.
Connor did not say anything and just sat down opposite Alina.
"What did Lucas ask you to tell me?"
Alina stared at Connor's windbreaker and said, "I'm cold."
Connor said coldly, "Then go inside and talk."
Alina sighed, "If it was in the past, you would give me your coat."
Connor said, "People should not indulge in memory of the past."
"But I can only live in the past because only you can make me happy." Alina lowered her eyes and said with a disappointed expression, "You won't understand."
Connor said in a deep voice, "Indeed, I don't understand. Alina, you and I have been on different paths. We are not even on the parallel paths, understand?"
"I don't want to understand."
Connor said calmly, "I know you do. You are just pretending to be muddle-headed. Tell me, what did Lucas say?"
"He didn't ask me to come." Alina looked up at Connor with sadness.
"So, you were lying just now?"
Alina asked sadly, "If I didn't say that, would you be willing to come out?"
Connor said angrily, "Alina, you are so self-righteous."
"What else can I do? I am worried about you and I don't want to hurt Ms. Hall. I can only use such an excuse to ask you out."
Connor was annoyed. "You don't have to worry about me. Am I unable to handle my life? You should pay more attention to yourself."
Alina bit her lip in embarrassment and said, "Connor, why did you pursue me back then? Do you know how difficult it is to forget you?"
