Lena was about to say something.
However, Annette did not give Lena a chance. "Lena, I know you are jealous of me, but you shouldn't have crossed the line. You snatched Kyle away, and you hurt me. You are not qualified to say that I ruined you. I can forget what you did in the past. However, this time, you not only slandered and gossiped about me maliciously, but you also leaked other people's personal information. I will never let you go. I will pursue the matter to the end."
Lena sneered. "I don't believe that you can send me to prison."
"It is not me who will send you to prison. But you broke the law."
Annette had checked before she came. As long as she insisted on pursuing the matter, with the lawyer sent by Connor, Lena would go to prison.
Some people were not worthy of sympathy. This time, Annette would not give in.
She turned to look at the lawyer and said, "She broke the law, please help me get her punished."
"Don't worry, Ms. Hall."
It was past six in the evening when they left the police station.
It was getting dark. Annette looked up at the sky and sighed.
Her former friend betrayed her and even became her enemy. She did not know what she had done wrong.
She used to think that as long as she was kind, she would receive the same kindness. But now, she found that kindness needed the support of power.
Connor had also been misunderstood by people. At the thought of that, Annette felt a little distressed.
She said inwardly, 'He felt sad before, just like me now. In the future, I should be nicer to him.'
The next day, the school announced the results of the police investigation.
Even so, the rumors about Annette in the school did not stop.
In the evening, Marcus returned home at half past eight. When he got out of the car at the door, he happened to meet Connor's car.
Connor rolled down the window and asked Marcus, "Where did you go? Why did you come back so late?"
"I went to the bar to check the renovation process."
Connor said with coldness, "You didn't work so hard when you were in school."
"This is what I enjoy doing."
As Connor was about to close the window, Marcus pressed it.
"By the way, Annette must be sad these days. You should comfort her."
"Did something happen again?" Connor frowned.
"No. It's still about the rumors."
"Haven't they been clarified?"
"Yes. The police have announced the results. But the rumors in the school are just like gossip in the entertainment industry. Even if the celebrity stood out and clarified everything, people would still refuse to believe it. Annette is kind of famous in our school, so there are always more discussions about her. I think it will take longer to quiet them down."
Connor said in a deep voice, "I see. Go back and rest."
Marcus shrugged and turned to enter the house.
Connor walked in, and Dwayne welcomed him.
Connor asked, "Where's Annette?"
"Ms. Hall just went upstairs after dinner," Dwayne replied.
Connor handed the coat to Dwayne and went upstairs.
Annette was reading in her room. When she saw him come back, she smiled, "Dwayne said you would have dinner outside. I thought you would come back late."
"You're at home. How can I let you be alone at home?"
Annette smiled and glared at him.
Connor asked, "Is there anything else at school that troubles you?"
Annette shook her head. "No. Everything has been settled. I'm waiting for Darren to apologize to me."
Connor raised his eyebrows. He thought that she was still unwilling to share her feelings with him.
Since the rumors had not ended, he couldn't ignore them.
He raised his hand and rubbed Annette's head. "Ann."
Annette looked up at him and asked, "What's wrong?"
"I will always stand by your side and protect you."
Annette didn't know why Connor suddenly said so.
Connor smiled, "Go on with your reading. I'll go take a shower."
Annette sat on the bay window and looked at the closed bathroom door. Her heart was beating so fast that it almost jumped out of her chest.
On Friday afternoon, Connor arrived at the entrance of the stadium five minutes earlier.
When he got out of the car and saw Annette, he smiled at her lovingly.
Alanna noticed his smile and looked at Annette in confusion.
Annette lowered her head nervously.
She complained, 'What happened to Connor? He has hidden our relationship well. But why did he make it so obvious now?'
Connor entered the stadium and began his lecture.
Alanna stood beside Annette and whispered, "Did I see wrong? Alpha Connor smiled at you just now."
Annette smiled awkwardly. "You must get it wrong."
"But..."
Annette put her finger on her lips. "Let's talk in the office later."
Alanna nodded quickly.
Annette looked at Connor's back, her eyes full of tenderness.
The class was over, but the students below the stage still wanted to hear more of it.
Connor turned to Annette, still holding the microphone in his hand. He pretended to say inadvertently, "Ann, come with me to Darren's office later."
Annette was stunned.
What was going on with Connor today?
Sounds of discussion sounded below the stage.
Sara reached out and poked the stunned Annette. "Annette."
Annette came back to her senses and looked at Connor.
Connor handed the microphone to Eden, who was not far away. He walked to Annette and put his hand on her shoulder naturally. "Let's go."
Just as he took her out of the stadium, it was in an uproar instantly.
Alanna walked to Sara and stuttered, "Sara... What happened just now? Alpha Connor called her Ann. Did I hear it wrong? Am I dreaming?"
She pinched her arm and said, "It hurts. It's not a dream. Oh my goodness! What did I miss?"
Sara did not say a word and just looked around.
She was also a little confused. She could not figure out Connor's purpose.
There were already many rumors about Annette. Connor acted intimately with Annette, and more and more people would talk about her.
Connor took Annette out of the stadium. Annette struggled out of his arms.
"Alpha Connor, can you explain to me what you are doing now?" Annette asked.
Connor said calmly, "I'll take you to Darren."
"We made an appointment that we should treat each other as strangers in school. What were you doing just now? I think everyone in school will know that I have an improper relationship with you in less than half an hour."
Connor said with a straight face, "I hope so. Otherwise, wouldn't my efforts be a waste?"
"Why?"
"I want them to know that I have taken a fancy to you. In the future, if anyone dares to say that you have a relationship with other men, I can deal with them justifiably."
"It is human nature to be curious about others' things. So people are talking about me. Can you stop all of them?"
Connor rubbed Annette's hair. "I will pick a few of them and make them suffer. This way, I won't have to keep a distance from you when I give a lecture in school in the future. I think it's good."
Annette looked at him speechlessly.
There would be new rumors about her soon.
