Annette asked Lucas in surprise, "What do you mean by that?"
"You don't know?"
Annette smiled bitterly. She had only heard of grudges between the Blood Moon Pack and the Black Thorn Pack, but she had never known what exactly they were.
"I don't know."
"Back then, Kate, the second daughter of the Black Thorn Pack, cheated on Bartz, my father's younger brother, and even killed him. The hatred between the Blood Moon Pack and the Black Thorn Pack can never be removed. The men of the Blood Moon Pack will never find their mates from the Black Thorn Pack."
As Lucas spoke, he became a little emotional.
Annette clenched her fists and lowered her head.
"Ms. Hall, you are a kind and tolerant person. I will be frank with you. As Connor's elder brother, I will never allow him to be with you. If you don't want to be hurt in the future, please leave Connor as soon as possible. Otherwise..."
Lucas looked at Annette, his eyes full of coldness. "I will let everyone know that you are the illegitimate daughter of the Alpha of the Black Thorn Pack and that you are trying to seduce the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack for benefits."
Annette looked at Lucas nervously.
"Please don't." She shook her head and said, "I will leave Connor."
Lucas said coldly, "You'd better keep your word. I won't wait for long. I will only give you one day. Tomorrow morning, I hope you can move out of the Blood Moon Pack and never see Connor again."
He turned his wheelchair and opened the door.
The pack guards at the door pushed his wheelchair forward and left.
Annette sat in the private room and could not calm down for a long time.
She and Connor had finally reached this day.
They would eventually have to separate. And they would never be able to spend the rest of their lives together.
Annette pressed her heart gently. In the end, she failed to control it.
She didn't know how long she had been sitting there.
Her phone rang.
When she saw that it was a call from Connor, she picked up the phone.
Connor said anxiously, "Where are you?"
"I'm outside."
"Where's Lucas? Did you see him? Don't listen to what he says. Tell me the address and I'll go to you."
Annette took a deep breath and tried to stay calm. "He's gone. Don't come pick me up. I'll go back myself. I have something to tell you."
She hung up the phone as soon as she finished her words.
She clasped her hands gently and felt inexplicably depressed.
She could not avoid separating from Connor. She could only face it!
An hour later, Annette returned to the villa in the Blood Moon Pack.
Connor was pacing back and forth in the living room.
As she showed up, he quickly stepped forward and asked, "Why did you come back so late?"
"I took a taxi back. It was a little far."
Although Annette's expression was the same as usual, Connor felt that something was off.
"What did Lucas say to you?"
Annette said, "I'll cook for you tonight."
"And then?"
Annette smiled, "Let's talk about the rest later."
As she spoke, she was about to go to the kitchen.
However, Connor grabbed her wrist and called her name. "Annette."
Annette looked back at him with a smile.
"Let's talk after dinner."
She turned around to leave, but Connor pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly.
"Don't try to brush me off. Don't fake a smile at me."
Annette pressed her chin against Connor's chest.
His embrace was always so warm.
"If you want to talk now, ask them to leave."
Connor said to Dwayne, "Take everyone out. No one is allowed to come in without my orders."
Dwayne said to the servants, "Everyone, follow me."
Everyone left.
Connor looked at Annette. "You can say it now."
"In a while, I will go upstairs to pack my things. I have to leave here."
Connor clenched his fists and tried to be calm. "I just asked what Lucas said."
"I don't think we can be together anymore."
Connor said through gritted teeth, "Annette."
"I have thought about it carefully. No matter what others think about you, you are a good person in my eyes. In the past, I was afraid that I would fall in love with you, so I always reminded myself to reject you. But you are so charming, and without any doubts, I did fall in love with you. However, I love myself more. Before I completely fell in love with you, I have to leave you." Annette pretended to be relaxed.
Connor did not know what Lucas had told Annette.
But the result was the same. That was Lucas had succeeded.
"Have you ever thought about my feelings?"
Annette shook her head, and her expression was cold. "No matter what you do to me, you have never considered my feelings."
"Do you think you can avoid me just by leaving here?"
"That's why I came back and talked to you. I hope you won't pester me anymore. The time limit we agreed on is almost up. My affection for you is far less than love."
Connor was angry in his heart.
But Annette did not seem to notice it.
When a couple was with each other, the worst thing was that one was thinking about how to break up, while the other was planning their future.
Connor felt that he was like a fool.
And Annette was the one that turned him into a fool.
She was not even willing to fight for their future.
"Connor, I'm sorry. I won't see you again in the future. I will do what I say this time."
Annette turned and walked upstairs.
She did not have much luggage other than some information and documents upstairs.
After entering the room, she put the documents into her bag and the books in her handbag.
Just as Annette was about to leave, Connor walked in.
His eyes were cold. He closed the door and locked it.
Annette saw his movements and was a little nervous.
She took two steps back and forced herself to calm down. "I'm done packing up my things. And I don't have anything else to say. If you are the same, I'll take my leave."
Connor did not move, and Annette did not dare to move.
She did not know what would happen if she walked out now.
Connor mocked himself. "It is ridiculous. This morning, I booked a venue to make you happy. However, in the afternoon, you abandoned me because Lucas knew your identity. Last time, you did the same thing when Marcus knew your identity. Annette, in your eyes, is it the easiest to give up on me? Is my effort so worthless?"
Annette lowered her eyes guiltily.
Connor ordered, "Say something."
Annette raised her head stubbornly and said, "Yes. I didn't fall in love with you, so I could give up on you easily again and again."
"You are indeed ruthless. You are the only one in the world who dares to insult me like this. I spoiled you."
"So, don't love a person who is not worth it anymore." Annette clenched her fists and walked toward the door.
