His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 156

Ch. 156 / 264 Apr 07, 2026

The school bus returned to school. The basketball team had won glory for the school, so Darren welcomed them in person.

In the evening, the school held a party for the celebration.

Annette was one of the student instructors who led the team, and she had to attend it.

Connor was displeased to know that she couldn't come home for dinner.

Later, he received a call from Darren, who invited him to the party.

Connor smiled happily. It seemed that he had to make a trip.

Annette could not drink. If she was drunk, he had to stand out.

Only now did Annette know that the basketball players were so good at drinking.

The party started at six o'clock. However, only fifteen minutes later, they finished two boxes of beer.

Although Annette was their student instructor, she felt completely out of place among them.

The captain of the basketball team said, "Annette, we are all drinking. Why are you only watching us? You should join us."

Annette waved her hand and refused, "No, I can't drink."

"With so many people around, what are you worried about? You are our lucky star, and we will protect you. I'll get you some wine."

Marcus thought of Connor's words in the evening and stopped the captain. "Annette can't drink. You guys go ahead."

Someone cheered, "Guys, Annette's knight is here."

Everyone laughed. Annette could only say, "Enjoy your beer. Otherwise, I would return them."

"Marcus, since when were you with Annette? You know, Annette is the perfect woman in our hearts. We are so envious of you."

"That's right. To be honest, Annette and Marcus are a good match. I think they are a perfect couple."

They were heckling, and none of them noticed that Connor walked in.

Hearing so many people joking with his younger brother and his mate, Connor was annoyed, and his face turned a little cold.

Darren's assistant invited Connor in. Other than Darren, Judica was also there.

As Connor walked in, Judica stood up and said respectfully, "Alpha Connor, long time no see."

Connor sat down with a straight face. He looked at Darren and asked, "Mr. Crace, since you want to treat me to a meal, why did you bring your daughter here?"

Darren noticed Connor's displeasure and explained, "Judica has always regarded you as her role model. She knew that I would have a meal with you and insisted on coming with me."

Connor said calmly, "Ms. Crace, how old are you?"

Judica said hurriedly, "Alpha Connor, I am 22 years old."

"You should be sensible at your age."

Judica explained, "I'm usually not like this. But I am eager to see you, so I begged Darren to bring me here."

"Do you want to see me, or do you want to be my mate?" Connor asked bluntly.

  Judica blushed.

Darren didn't know if he should say anything. He wasn't sure what Connor was feeling right now.

Seeing that Judica was silent, Connor said directly, "If it's the former possibility, Ms. Crace, I think you should be able to control your emotions at your age. Otherwise, your behavior will trouble others. I'm not a public figure. If you want to see me, you need to ask for my permission first. If it's the latter possibility, I can only tell you that you are not my type. I'm not available."

Connor vented all the anger in his heart, and his mood eased a lot. "Ms. Crace, if you have nothing to do here, please leave. Mr. Crace, please invite Annette here."

  Judica was embarrassed.

Darren said, "Alpha Connor, don't take it to heart. I've spoiled Judica. I think she can enrich her life experience by talking with an outstanding person like you."

"I came for Marcus. Mr. Crace, have you always been so self-righteous?"

Darren frowned. He turned to look at Judica and said, "Judica, apologize to Alpha Connor and then go home."

Judica said reluctantly, "I got it."

She stood up and bowed to Connor. "Alpha Connor, I'm sorry for disturbing you. I'll be leaving."

She turned around and went out. Darren followed behind her.

When they reached the door, Judica was depressed and stomped on her feet. "Did I offend Alpha Connor? Why is he so rude every time he talks to me?"

"Forget it. Alpha Connor was right. This time, we are being rude."

"Why didn't you tell him that I would come? It's all your fault," Judica complained.

"You are right. It was my fault. Go back first. I will find a chance to explain it to Alpha Connor."

Judica could do nothing and left unhappily.

Darren walked to the members of the basketball team who were drinking in the hall.

He said, "Annette, come with me. I want to discuss the student instructor's work with you."

Annette put down her drink and said to the students, "Don't drink too much, or you will cause trouble if you are drunk."

After that, she walked out with Darren.

Marcus glared at others and said, "Don't talk nonsense again. Annette used to be my tutor. That's why we are close. She and I are not in a relationship. Don't say that again, or I'll beat you up."

When Annette saw Connor, she was stunned and wondered why he was there.

"Annette, sit down," Darren reminded her.

Annette came back to her senses and nodded at Darren. She sat down at Judica's previous seat and said respectfully to Connor, "Alpha Connor, good evening."

  Connor's gaze swept over her.

Annette met his eyes and then looked away to avoid eye contact with him.

Connor raised his eyebrows. He picked up his glass and took a sip. "Annette, do you want to drink?"

"I'm sorry, Alpha Connor. It's not convenient for me to drink today."

"Annette," Darren said anxiously, "It is your honor to drink with Alpha Connor."

"I know it is my honor, but I can't drink today. Sorry, Alpha Connor."

  Connor said indifferently, "Forget it."

Darren got up and poured himself some wine. "Alpha Connor, I'll drink with you."

Connor put down his glass and said, "I'm not here to drink."

  Darren sat down awkwardly.

Connor looked at Annette and said, "Annette, I want to know Marcus' performance at school."

Annette was speechless. She complained in her heart, 'Connor is so bored. Can't he ask me about it at home? Why did he have to ask here?'

"Marcus has been doing very well. He is smart, and all the teachers praised him in front of me. In addition, he was active in school activities. This time, he participated in the basketball game and led a team to win the championship for the school."

Darren nodded. "Marcus contributed the most in this basketball game."

Connor smiled faintly and asked, "Really? Annette, I heard that you and Marcus are a perfect couple. Are you in a relationship?"

Annette was stunned for a moment. What did he mean?
